This study proposes architectural solutions and operations for the rapid implementation of distributed associative operations in supercomputers. The operations are carried out by means of interactions between supercomputer devices using wireless optical links. Some operations result in improved distributed versions of the local operations of associative memory devices and associative processors. The operations for distributed fast digital calculations are also included. The operations for analog-digital counting are proposed for quick counting the number of records in distributed big data. The structure of the connections between devices can be completely changed in comparable time to the execution time of the processor command.

Time synchronization technology is the key support technology of wireless sensor networks. It is the core mechanism to ensure the cooperation of nodes in sensor networks. The traditional time synchronization algorithm is not suitable for wireless sensor networks. Based on the analysis of the current situation of wireless sensor network time synchronization technology at home and abroad, this paper summarizes a variety of new time synchronization protocols based on scheduling time synchronization, mixed time synchronization and distributed time synchronization. Finally, the development trend of time synchronization technology is prospected.

Multi-agent adaptive consensus of networked systems on directed graphs

This paper considers adaptive consensus problem on directed graphs of multi-agent systems with unknown control directions. The proposed consensus protocol assumes that each agent receives information about delayed values of state and control signals of respective neighbors. In case of unknown sign of the high-frequency gain of agent dynamics, the proposed algorithm employs Nussbaum-like switching function. The algorithm allows for a designer to select low gain or high gain consensus protocols. Assuming that the underlying graph is strongly connected, it is proved that all agent states converge toward the same value, and the inter-agent coupling parameters are convergent functions. The addition of an optical wireless switching network with advanced functionalities to a supercomputer system is proposed. The structure of links of nodes (computer devices) a complete graph in which only links are realized is necessary. The switching units are located only in the sources and receivers. The structure of the network links can be changed quickly during execution of the single program instruction. The calculations may be executed for the data in the message without requiring additional time.

Low-Complex synchronization Algorithms for Embedded Wireless Sensor Networks

In industrial applications of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), synchronized sampling of data on each sensor node is often required. Thus, the wireless communication protocol needs to support accurate timing synchronization. If due to a high sampling rate also high data throughput is required, WSNs based on the IEEE 802.15.4 physical layer often do not provide sufficient data rate. Wireless communications based on the well-established IEEE 802.11 wireless local area network (WLAN) standard provides high data throughput but not an accurate timing synchronization unless the protocol stack is severely changed. We propose two low-complexity consensus-based synchronization algorithms for the hybrid WSN introduced, which are executable at limited embedded computing capacity, e.g., on an 8 bit microcontroller. A time division multiple access-based synchronization packet broadcasting with three-step-controlled or proportional-integral (PI)-controlled clock adjustment enables 1 kHz sensor sampling rate with a sampling jitter <15 mu s for the three-step-controlled synchronization algorithm and <1 mu s for the PI-controlled algorithm.

Monotonic Mean-Squared Convergence Conditions for Random Pairwise Consensus synchronization in Wireless Networks

Time synchronization is important for a variety of applications in wireless networks including scheduling communication resources, interference avoidance, and data fusion. This paper analyzes the problem of synchronizing nodes in a time-division-duplexed wireless network via consensus methods using only acknowledged message exchanges over existing network traffic. The nodes are assumed to communicate synchronization information randomly and asymmetrically, reflecting the random nature of the timing and the source of synchronization information gleaned from or embedded in existing network traffic. The synchronization method accounts for non-negligible propagation delays which can be disruptive to consensus techniques. To characterize both transient and asymptotic consensus behavior, general results are presented providing necessary and sufficient conditions for monotonic mean squared convergence of a distance from consensus metric at an exponential rate. While the general results apply to a broad class of random consensus models, two models are analyzed in detail: i) random asymmetric gossip and ii) fully connected random broadcast. Bounds are derived for the steady-state distance from consensus in the presence of estimation error. Numerical results are also presented verifying the analysis under different network topologies.

We present a zoned presence detection system using multiple ultrasonic array sensors. In active mode, sensors transmit consecutive bursts of sinusoidal pulses over a transmission slot in a time-division multiplexed manner. We present a transmission slot synchronization method to maintain assigned transmission slots of each sensor. The proposed method is distributed and does not rely on a central coordinator or unique identifiers for the sensors. In a transmission slot, the corresponding receiver array uses moving target processing on received echoes to derive range and direction-of-arrival, defining a zone. A tracking algorithm is used to make the zoned presence detection more robust. The presented methods are evaluated using ceiling-installed ultrasonic linear array sensors in an experimental office setup.

This research investigated the impact of synchronous distributed non immersive cloud-VR (cloud computing type of Virtual Reality) meetings using the annotation function by noting an architectural design process. The experimentation of collaborative design work at the early stage of a housing renovation project was executed by three designers. The synchronously distributed meetings using cloud-VR and a freehand sketching function were completed in two days. The annotation function was used effectively when a designer wished to show the space composition and volume shape of the planned building and so on. The proposed design environment, sharing a 3D virtual space with viewpoints, plans, sketches and other information synchronously and remotely, was feasible and effective.

In the spatial design fields such as architectural design and urban design, a consensus-building process among a variety of stakeholders like project executors, architects, residents, users, and general citizens is required. New technological developments such as cloud computing and Virtual Design Studios （VDS） enable the creation of virtual meeting systems. This paper proposes an approach towards a synchronous distributed design meeting system. In this paper, in addition to sharing a 3D virtual space for a synchronous distributed type design meeting, we developed a prototype system that enables participants to sketch or make annotations and have discussions as well as add viewpoints to them. We applied these functions to evaluate an architectural design and urban landscape examination. In conclusion, the proposed method was evaluated as being effective and feasible. Yet, it shows a few shortcomings including the fact that simultaneous operation is limited to one client, and more arbitrary shapes should be supported in future versions of the application.
