This paper investigates stability and stabilization analyses issue for T-S fuzzy-model-based systems involving distributed time-delay. The novel imperfect premise matching methodlogy is employed to derive fuzzy controller, unlike conventional PDC method, this novel technique allows the designed fuzzy controller and the T-S fuzzy model to have distinct membership functions and number of rules, as a result, great flexibility and better robustness can be achieved. Moreover, with the introduction of one novel inequality which is tighter than other existing ones, relaxed LMI-based stability and stabilization criteria are obtained in term of the Lyapunov stability theory. Lastly, two numerical examples are offered to prove the valadity of the derived results.

On the basis of the simplest and deterministic chemostat model, we introduce impulsive input, nutrient recycling, and distributed time-delay into the model in this paper. By using comparison theorem, Floquet theory, and small amplitude skills in the impulsive differential equation, it proves that if the period of impulsive input is too long and the parameter of the kernel function in the delay is too small, then there exists a microorganism-eradication periodic solution that is globally asymptotically stable, and the cultivation of the microorganism fails. On the contrary, if we choose suitable impulsive strategy, such as increasing the concentration of the substrate or enhance the proportion of the concentration of the impulsive input of the substrate at periodic time to that for the microbial growth, then the system could be controlled to be permanent, and the cultivation of the microorganism will be successful. Exponential distributed time-delay nonlinear models: Monte Carlo simulations

The stochastic dynamics toward the final attractor in an exponential distributed time-delay nonlinear model is studied, in the small noise approximation. The passage time statistic for this non-Markovian type of system has been worked out using Monte Carlo simulations. We report the mean first passage time < t(e)>(MC) from the unstable state as a function of the mean time-delay epsilon lambda(-1). We have compared our Monte Carlo simulations for lambda >> 1 against previous results (Caceres, 2008) and we have found excellent agreement in the adiabatic regime. The crossover for lambda similar to 1 and a power-law behavior < t(e)>(MC) similar to lambda(-v) for lambda << 1 have also been found in agreement with recent theoretical predictions (Caceres, 2014). The stochastic dynamics toward the final attractor in exponential distributed timedelay non-linear models is presented, then the passage time statistic is studied analytically in the small noise approximation. The problem is worked out by going to the associated two-dimensional system. The mean first passage time < t(e)> from the unstable state for this non-Markovian type of system has been worked out using two different approaches: firstly, by a rigorous adiabatic Markovian approximation (in the small mean delay-time epsilon = lambda(-1));secondly, by introducing the stochastic path perturbation approach to get a non-adiabatic theory for any lambda. This first passage time distribution can be written in terms of the important parameters of the models. We have compared both approaches and we have found excellent agreement between them in the adiabatic limit. In addition, using our non-adiabatic approach we predict a crossover and a novel behavior for the relaxation scaling-time as a function of the delay parameter which for lambda << 1 goes as < t(e)> similar to 1/root lambda.

Quasi-Consensus Control for a Class of time-Varying Stochastic Nonlinear time-delay Multiagent Systems Subject to Deception Attacks

This article focuses on the consensus control problem for a class of time-varying stochastic nonlinear time-delay multiagent systems (MASs) attacked by deception attacks. The stochastic deception attack is considered in the procedure of propagating measurement information among agents. To solve the consensus control problem for addressed MASs under stochastic deception attacks, a definition of quasi-consensus is put forward. The objective of our investigation is to devise a consensus protocol to drive all agents to stay within an allowable range despite the existence of stochasticity and external malicious attacks. With the help of recursive linear matrix inequality and stochastic analysis methods, sufficient conditions are acquired to guarantee that all agents are constrained in the desirable range. Subsequently, an optimization algorithm is presented, which is to seek the locally optimal allowable distance among agents. Finally, a simulation example is presented to demonstrate the availability of our proposed algorithm.

The inclusion principle for distributed-time-delay systems is defined. The properties of input-output map equivalence and preservation of stability between two systems, one of which includes the other, are presented. Controller and observer design, using the inclusion principle, are also discussed. Finally, overlapping decompositions of distributed-time-delay systems is illustrated. The use of overlapping decompositions in controller and observer design is also presented.

A Novel Particle Swarm Optimization Approach for Patient Clustering From Emergency Departments

In this paper, a novel particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is proposed in order to improve the accuracy of traditional clustering approaches with applications in analyzing real-time patient attendance data from an accident & emergency (A&E) department in a local U.K. hospital. In the proposed randomly occurring distributedly delayed PSO (RODDPSO) algorithm, the evolutionary state is determined by evaluating the evolutionary factor in each iteration, based on whether the velocity updating model switches from one mode to another. With the purpose of reducing the possibility of getting trapped in the local optima and also expanding the search space, randomly occurring time-delays that reflect the history of previous personal best and global best particles are introduced in the velocity updating model in a distributed manner. Eight well-known benchmark functions are employed to evaluate the proposed RODDPSO algorithm which is shown via extensive comparisons to outperform some currently popular PSO algorithms. To further illustrate the application potential, the RODDPSO algorithm is successfully exploited in the patient clustering problem for data analysis with respect to a local A&E department in West London. Experiment results demonstrate that the RODDPSO-based clustering method is superior over two other well-known clustering algorithms.

On Global Stability of delayed BAM Stochastic Neural Networks with Markovian Switching

In this paper, the stability analysis problem is investigated for stochastic bi-directional associative memory (BAM) neural networks with Markovian jumping parameters and mixed time delays. Both the global asymptotic stability and global exponential stability are dealt with. The mixed time delays consist of both the discrete delays and the distributed delays. Without assuming the symmetry of synaptic connection weights and the monotonicity and differentiability of activation functions, we employ the Lyapunov-Krasovskii stability theory and the It differential rule to establish sufficient conditions for the delayed BAM networks to be stochastically globally exponentially stable and stochastically globally asymptotically stable, respectively. These conditions are expressed in terms of the feasibility to a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Therefore, the global stability of the delayed BAM with Markovian jumping parameters can be easily checked by utilizing the numerically efficient Matlab LMI toolbox. A simple example is exploited to show the usefulness of the derived LMI-based stability conditions.

On synchronization of coupled neural networks with discrete and unbounded distributed delays

In this paper, we deal with the synchronization problem for an array of linearly coupled neural networks with simultaneous presence of both the discrete and unbounded distributed time-delays. By utilizing a novel Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and the Kronecker product, it is shown that the addressed synchronization problem is solvable if several linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) are feasible. Hence, different from the commonly used matrix norm theories (such as the M-matrix method), a unified LMI approach is developed to establish sufficient conditions for the coupled neural networks to be globally synchronized, where the LMIs can be easily solved by using the Matlab LMI toolbox and no tuning of parameters is required. It is also shown that the synchronization of coupled neural networks with bounded distributed delays is just a special case of our main results. A numerical example is provided to show the usefulness of the proposed global synchronization condition.

Exponential synchronization of complex networks with Markovian jump and mixed delays

In this Letter, we investigate the exponential synchronization problem for an array of N linearly coupled complex networks with Markovian jump and mixed time-delays. The complex network consists of m modes and the network switches from one mode to another according to a Markovian chain with known transition probability. The mixed time-delays are composed of discrete and distributed delays, both of which are mode-dependent. The nonlinearities imbedded with the complex networks are assumed to satisfy the sector condition that is more general than the commonly used Lipschitz condition. By making use of the Kronecker product and the stochastic analysis tool, we propose a novel Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional suitable for handling distributed delays and then show that the addressed synchronization problem is solvable if a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) are feasible. Therefore, a unified LMI approach is developed to establish sufficient conditions for the coupled complex network to be globally exponentially synchronized in the mean square. Note that the LMIs can be easily solved by using the Matlab LMI toolbox and no tuning of parameters is required. A simulation example is provided to demonstrate the usefulness of the main results obtained. (C) 2008 Published by Elsevier B.V.
