Adaptive Quantized Iterative Learning Control Using encoding-decoding Strategy

This study investigates the utilization of a dynamic encoding-decoding mechanism for transferred signals to explore adaptive quantized iterative learning control. encoding-decoding pairs for error and output are designed to adjust the quantization parameters dynamically. A uniform quantizer with a finite quantization level is employed on the system measurement side, with distinct lower bounds specified for the quantizer under two encoding-decoding pairs. Zoom-out and zoom-in strategies are incorporated into the encoder and decoder, respectively, enabling adaptation of the quantizer. These two adaptive quantization mechanisms ensure convergence of the system output toward the desired reference without saturating the quantizer under any initial input. The proposed scheme relaxes the constraints on the initial input signals, simplifies the expression for the quantizer saturation bound, and concurrently reduces the magnitude of the saturation bound itself. Finally, a numerical and an experimental examples are presented to validate the proposed learning control scheme.

Optimal Tracking Performance of NCSs with Time-delay and encoding-decoding Constraints

In this paper, the tracking performance of networked control systems (NCSs) under energy constraints with time-delay and encoding-decoding is studied. Through spectral factorization and partial decomposition techniques, we can obtain the explicit representation of the optimal performance. It is shown that the optimal performance is affected by non minimum phase (NMP) zeros, unstable poles and other multiple communication constraints such as time-delay, encoding-decoding and additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). At the same time, the obtained result shows that a two-parameter compensator is superior to a one-parameter compensator. In addition, it is found that time-delay, encoding-decoding and AWGN affected the tracking capability of NCSs. Finally, an example is given for verifying the correctness of the conclusions.

Underwater Object Recognition Based on Deep encoding-decoding Network

Ocean underwater exploration is a part of oceanography that investigates the physical and biological conditions for scientific and commercial purposes. And video technology plays an important role and is extensively applied for underwater environment observation. Different from the conventional methods, video technology explores the underwater ecosystem continuously and non-invasively. However, due to the scattering and attenuation of light transport in the water, complex noise distribution and lowlight condition cause challenges for underwater video applications including object detection and recognition. In this paper, we propose a new deep encoding-decoding convolutional architecture for underwater object recognition. It uses the deep encoding-decoding network for extracting the discriminative features from the noisy low-light underwater images. To create the deconvolutional layers for classification, we apply the deconvolution kernel with a matched feature map, instead of full connection, to solve the problem of dimension disaster and low accuracy. Moreover, we introduce data augmentation and transfer learning technologies to solve the problem of data starvation. For experiments, we investigated the public datasets with our proposed method and the state-of-the-art methods. The results show that our work achieves significant accuracy. This work provides new underwater technologies applied for ocean exploration.

Impulsive Consensus of Multiagent Systems With Limited Bandwidth Based on encoding-decoding

Energy constrains are always significant to be considered in control of multiagent systems. Besides, nonlinear phenomena are often involved into such systems. In this paper, we discuss the impulsive consensus problem of nonlinear multiagent systems via impulsive protocol with limited bandwidth communication based on encoding-decoding. The scheme based on encoding-decoding with impulsive protocol is introduced to multiagent systems in general directed networks topology of which the graph is strongly connected. The impulsive protocols and limited bandwidth communication enhance the performance on energy saving and the involvement of nonlinear dynamics could suit more real-world cases. The design of encoders and decoders is presented, which is the key to achieve the goal that the information exchanged is subject to limited bandwidth communication. The conditions to guarantee the impulsive consensus and the conditions to avoid quantizer saturation arc obtained. Moreover, the convergence rate of such multiagent systems are also characterized by the analysis of the exponential consensus. The numerical simulations are presented to support the theoretical results.

One of the most important goals in theoretical neuroscience is to deter- mine what are the fundamental principles underlying the processing of information in the brain and ultimately characterize the link between neu- ronal activity and behavior. Even though many important steps have been done in this direction, we are still far from providing a clear and robust answer to this question. In this thesis I will present a set of results that will be analyzed under the encoding-decoding framework in decision-making, a fundamental part of cognition. In particular, I will present a set of elec- trophysiological, behavioral and mathematical results that have been used to study the encoding of information on the cortex of behaving monkeys and the integration of sensory with prior evidence on rats performing an outcome-coupled perceptual decision-making task.

Regulation performance limitation of networked control systems under dual-channel noise constraints

In this paper, we examine the regulation performance of single-input single-output networked control systems (NCSs). Network limitations such as time delay, noise, and insufficient bandwidth significantly challenge the regulation performance of NCSs. We derive the regulation performance limits under dual-channel Gaussian noise, encoding-decoding processes, and bandwidth constraints using coprime factorization and spectral techniques. Our findings reveal that the regulation performance of NCSs is closely associated with the nonminimum phase zeros, unstable poles, and the communication constraints of the network. We also present a numerical simulation to validate our findings.

A Novel Tree-Based Genetic Algorithm for the Multicast Protocol in Two-Tiered WSNs

Genetic algorithms(GAs) serve as a class of powerful tools to search for an effective multicast routing scheme among multiple cluster header nodes,which strongly affects the lifetime of two-tiered Wireless sensor networks(WSNs). This paper proposes a novel Genetic algorithm(GA) with a new crossover mechanism called Leaf crossover for the multicast routing among upper tier nodes in two-tiered WSNs, which outperforms the existing popular tree-based GAs by not requiring the global network link information, encoding/decoding or repair operations. Our simulation study indicates that the proposed algorithm could prolong the lifetime of multicast service, increase the packet delivery ratio as well as converge fast by comparison with existing GAs.

Optimal modified performance of MIMO networked control systems with multi-parameter constraints

The optimal modified performance of the multi-input multi-output (MIMO) networked control systems (NCSs) with encoding-decoding, channel noise in the forward channel and packet dropouts, quantization in the feedback channel is investigated in this paper. A new and efficient tracking performance index for the NCSs is presented which prevents variations in the tracking error where there is no integrator in the plant. The optimal modified performance is obtained by the method of coprime factorization and partial fraction. The results demonstrate that the optimal modified performance is related to the locations of the non-minimum phase (NMP) zeros, unstable poles of the given plant as well as their directions. In addition, the modified factor, packet dropouts probability, channel noise and encoding-decoding are also closely related to optimal modified performance of the NCSs. Noise Reduction in CT Using Learned Wavelet-Frame Shrinkage Networks

encoding-decoding (ED) CNNs have demonstrated state-of-the-art performance for noise reduction over the past years. This has triggered the pursuit of better understanding the inner workings of such architectures, which has led to the theory of deep convolutional framelets (TDCF), revealing important links between signal processing and CNNs. Specifically, the TDCF demonstrates that ReLU CNNs induce low-rankness, since these models often do not satisfy the necessary redundancy to achieve perfect reconstruction (PR). In contrast, this paper explores CNNs that do meet the PR conditions. We demonstrate that in these type of CNNs soft shrinkage and PR can be assumed. Furthermore, based on our explorations we propose the learned wavelet-frame shrinkage network, or LWFSN and its residual counterpart, the rLWFSN. The ED path of the (r)LWFSN complies with the PR conditions, while the shrinkage stage is based on the linear expansion of thresholds proposed Blu and Luisier. In addition, the LWFSN has only a fraction of the training parameters (<1%) of conventional CNNs, very small inference times, low memory footprint, while still achieving performance close to state-of-the-art alternatives, such as the tight frame (TF) U-Net and FBPConvNet, in low-dose CT denoising.
