A PSO-Based Hybrid Adaptive equalization algorithm for Asynchronous Cooperative Communications

This paper proposes an adaptive equalization algorithm for asynchronous cooperative communications in ad hoc networks, where amplify-and-forward relays are adopted, each of which is equipped with single antenna. Adaptive equalization technique is carried out at the destination node in this paper to remove inter-symbol interference, which is caused by the retransmissions of the asynchronous relays. Least mean squares (LMS) has been regarded as an effective adaptive method, but it has difficulty in obtaining the optimal solution. In this paper, we present a hybrid adaptive scheme by combining particle swarm optimization (PSO) with conventional LMS algorithm, where PSO is utilized to search the optimal solution during the iterative process, and LMS is employed to avoid the local convergence, which is usually caused in PSO. Numerical simulation results show that, the proposed scheme outperforms conventional LMS algorithm in convergence performance over Rayleigh flat fading channel, and meanwhile, a signal-noise-ratio gain of 6 dB or so is obtained when BER is 10(-3).

Aiming at the problem of traditional neural network in nonlinear haze channel equalization application, this paper proposes a nonlinear haze channel equalization algorithm based on improved neural network. The algorithm uses directed search optimization as a training device for neural networks, and then uses directed search optimization algorithm to train nonlinear haze channel equalization. A new haze channel equalization strategy is proposed for the equalization of nonlinear haze channels. Finally, simulation experiments are carried out. The simulation experiments show that compared with the traditional BP, GA and PSO, the proposed algorithm uses the directional search update strategy, and the gene mutation technology can realize the local optimal equalizer with better performance.

An equalization algorithm is proposed for carrier-less amplitude and phase (CAP) modulation system, which is regarded as a good candidate for short range optical communications, like electrical power optical fiber communication, optical access network. The constant module algorithm (CMA) combined with support vector machine (SVM) performs the equalization function. The simulation system was setup for both single-band 16-CAP signal at 10Gbps and multi-band M-CAP (4-CAP, 16-CAP, 64-CAP) signal at 100Gbps. After the CMA-SVM equalization, the impaired CAP signals are compensated effectively. The phase rotation is recovered and the centralization of each constellation points is improved obviously, which demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed equalization algorithm.

equalization algorithm has a great significance to overcome the inter-symbol interference (ISI) existing in the satellite communication system. But fixed step size (FSS) LMS equalization algorithms and traditional variable step size LMS (VSSLMS) equalization algorithms do not perform well in some aspects such as convergence speed. Therefore, a VSSLMS equalization algorithm based on logarithmic function is proposed. It establishes a nonlinear function relationship between step size and autocorrelation value of the error signal. It also introduces the smoothing factor and the previous step size to control the steady-state error with small fluctuations. Compared with the similar algorithms, the proposed algorithm performs better than those algorithms in aspects of anti-noise performance, convergence speed and tracking speed. The model of the satellite communication system is presented, and the proposed algorithm is applied to the adaptive equalizer in the model. The simulation result shows that the bit error rate (BER) performance of the system is effectively improved.

This paper presents a centralized strategy for equalizing the state of charge of distributed energy storage systems in an islanded ac microgrid. The strategy is based on a simple algorithm denoted as equalization algorithm, which modifies the charge or discharge ratio on the time, for distributed energy storage systems, within a determined period of time in order to equalize the state of charge. The proposed approach has been tested in a MATLAB/Simulink model of the microgrid where the performance of the proposed strategy was verified.

This paper presents a centralized strategy for equalizing the state of charge of distributed energy storage systems in an islanded DC microgrid. The proposed strategy is based on a simple algorithm called equalization algorithm, which modifies the charge or discharge rate by weighting the virtual resistor of local droop control loops at each distributed energy storage system. The proposed strategy, can be used as an additional function of the microgrid energy management system where the state of charge of distributed ESS is equalized within a determined window of time. Finally, real-time simulation results of a low voltage DC microgrid are presented in order to verify the performance of the proposed approach.

Modulation Recognition algorithm of Multipath Channel Signal for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing

As wireless communication technology rapidly develops, multipath channel effects pose a severe challenge to the effectiveness of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems. The signal distortion caused by multipath channel effects seriously affects the performance of the system. The objective of the research is to design a deep learning-based orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system signal modulation recognition method to improve recognition accuracy in multipath channel environments. The study first uses a subspace imperceptive channel estimation algorithm to perform preliminary processing on the received signal, eliminating the influence of some multipath effects. Then, the minimum mean square error equalization algorithm is used to further balance the signal and reduce signal distortion. Finally, an improved convolutional neural network is used to construct a classifier for modulation recognition of preprocessed signals, thereby establishing an intelligent signal modulation recognition method. The results denoted that the average recognition accuracy of the research algorithm for six modulation modes, namely 16QAM, 32QAM, 64QAM, BPSK, QPSK, and 8PSK, was 0.931, and the recognition accuracy was higher at 10SNR. The testing time was 1.61x10(-4) s, and the practicality and modulation recognition accuracy were better than other methods. The research results provide a new solution for signal modulation recognition in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems, which can effectively improve the overall performance of communication systems, reduce error rates, and enhance the system's anti-interference ability.

Distributed reservoir computing based nonlinear equalizer for VCSEL based optical interconnects

We propose a distributed reservoir computing based nonlinear equalizer for 106 Gbps VCSEL based optical interconnects. By comparing with neural network and Volterra series based equalizers, the computational complexity of this proposed nonlinear equalizer is significantly reduced in the training, prediction and inference process. 106 Gbps PAM4 short-range optical transmission is demonstrated by experiment, using a VCSEL-based co-packaged optical transmitter to verify the performance of the equalizer and key parameters that affect the nonlinear compensation performance are carefully investigated. We believe that by incorporating such simplified nonlinear equalizers, it is possible to compensate for nonlinear impairments while preserving the inherent advantages of VCSEL-based optical interconnects. This optical interconnect will become a promising paradigm to overcome I/O performance penalty when communication leaving packages.

A multi-module equalization system for lithium-ion battery packs

Battery inconsistency in electric vehicles is an important factor causing battery capacity degradation and safety problems. Therefore, battery equalization technology plays an important role in improving the performance and safety of battery packs. Among the existing equalization technologies, passive equalization is inefficient and active equalization is expensive and complex. Most of the active equalization algorithms only consider the balance of the cells within the battery module, but the balance between modules are not involved. However, battery packs for electric vehicles often consist of multiple modules, cooperative equalization between modules are essentially required to improve the balance efficiency. A novel cooperative equalization system for multi-modules in the battery pack is proposed in this paper. The system combines active and passive equalization, and also includes a fast discharge function for balancing modules by a power resistor. An equalization algorithm aiming at the optimal equalization time is studied. Finally, the equalization system is verified in simulation and experiment. The experimental results show that the proposed equalizer demonstrates good performance in different consistency cases using the proposed control strategy and optimization equalization algorithm.
