In this paper we considered the problem of security analysis of robust perceptual hashing in authentication application. The main goal of our analysis was to estimate the amount of trial efforts of the attacker, who is acting within the Kerckhoffs security principle, to reveal a secret key. For this purpose, we proposed to use Shannon equivocation that provides an estimate of complexity of the, key search performed based on all available prior information and presented its application to security evaluation of particular robust perceptual hashing algorithms.

A collaborative method is proposed to detect soft errors in combinational logic and memory elements of sequential logic circuits. The proposed match functions examine the current flip-flop values and the incoming flip-flop inputs produced by combinational logic to recognize the presence of soft errors. Conventional error control methods for sequential circuits focus on protecting the memory elements, rather than combinational logic. Unfortunately, the error rate of combinational logic is approaching that of memory elements as technology scales down. Modular redundancy approaches, such as triple modular redundancy (TMR), can simply protect both combinational logic and memory elements at the cost of large area and power. We apply the proposed collaborative method to a binary counter and one ITC'99 benchmark circuit to assess the system failure rate and error protection overhead. Gate-level simulation results show that our approach improves the system failure rate more than one order of magnitude over TMR. Synthesized netlists show that our method consumes 40% less area and 50% less power than TMR. Experimental results also show that our method achieves a comparable error detection rate to an error control coding method with 34% dynamic power reduction.

The paper presents the inverse problem concerned with fuzzy relations. A method for the inverse solution of a max-min compositional relation equation, based on the intermediate value theorem, is called the bisection algorithm, or binary-search method. The benefits of the inverse problem is used not only for its theoretical implications but also for its applicability on real problems of optimization and control of fuzzy logic systems.

In this paper, we develop a matrix-based formulation for the Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) computation that is derived from its polynomial-based definition. Then, using this formulation, we propose a parallel CRC computation structure with optimizations specific to the case when the degree of parallelism is greater than the degree of the generator polynomial. Afterward, through extensive simulations we obtain the optimum degrees or parallelism in terms of their critical path delays for some common generator polynomials. We also show that the time-area product follows the critical path delay plot.

To address the challenge of high manual measurement cost, heavy workload and difficulty in real-time collection, a multiparameter remote wireless monitoring system based on LoRa is proposed. The system uses sensors to form a terminal monitoring network, named the LoRa wireless data transmission radio to form a wireless communication network, and the serial port server connects with the host computer through TCP/IP protocol to establish a two-way communication between command issuing and data uploading. To meet the needs of temperature, humidity, and CO2 monitoring in the curved room, a monitoring network was built, and the temperature and humidity CO2 integrated sensor was utilized. A corresponding host computer software was developed based on C# to process the detection data. The operation results show that the transmission of multiparameter monitoring data is smooth and real-time. The system achieves wireless monitoring of temperature, humidity and CO2 concentration in the winding room, at low costs and high automation. © 2024 SPIE.

With the advent of optical mesh networks, certain new protection schemes have been defined. This encompasses both local span and end-to-end path protection. But the implementations of these protection schemes have so far been based on proprietary mechanisms developed by each vendor. This has made it virtually impractical to construct a heterogeneous network with interoperable mesh protection schemes. Also, while the notion of a standard IP-centric control plane for optical networks based on Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching (GMPLS) has gained wide acceptance, the work in this area has so far focussed exclusively on connection provisioning rather than restoration. This paper defines standard, IP-based signaling protocols for restoration in optical mesh networks. These protocols focus on a new local span protection mode and end-to-end shared protection. The main requirements on these protocols are simplicity and speed. The signaling mechanisms described in this paper are complimentary to the GMPLS provisioning mechanisms.

Significant enhancements of the flexural strength of a, and c- plane sapphire by means of "super polishing" was first reported by McHargue and Snyder [Proc. SPIE 2013, 135 (1993)). The improvement was attributed to the removal of residual mechanical polishing damage. More recently, a comprehensive series of experiments was carried out by Crystal Systems for the specific purpose of assessing the effects of various polishing procedures on the high-temperature strength of c-plane sapphire. Subsequent testing at room temperature confirmed that chemomechanical polishing improves both the effective strength and the strength distribution. In this contribution we take advantage of the methodology previously used by Klein et al. [Opt. Eng. 41, 3151 (2002)] to perform a correct Weibull statistical analysis of biaxial flexure-strength data generated in the course of Crystal Systems' investigations. We demonstrate that chemomechanical polishing procedures can improve the high-temperature characteristic strength of c-plane sapphire by 150 % and the room-temperature Weibull modulus by 100 %.

Modern global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) use Binary Offset Carrier (BOC) modulation to provide better spectral separation and code tracking accuracy, as compared to the BPSK modulation. In this paper, error control coding is combined with the BOC. These techniques primarily avoid interference by using modulation techniques that place energy at relatively vacant frequency slots in the occupied radinavigation band. Two variations of BOC - Alt BOC and Coded BOC are presented. These techniques combine coding with BOC modulation without increasing bandwidth requirement. The coded - BOC modulation scheme improves the robustness of radio navigation signals against additive noise than the conventional uncoded BOC modulation scheme.
