We consider estimation of a set of tent-map chaotic sequences. These sequences are obtained by iterating a one dimensional chaotic function in the (-1,1) domain. We demonstrate how to construct a set of n sequences, in which information in the form of n arbitrary samples in the (-1,1) domain is embedded. Additionally the signs of all sequences jointly form a valid digital codeword. Each sequence in the set consists of m elements, hence the set of sequences is equivalent to a rate 1/m analog error correcting-code. We present performance in terms of coding gain when maximum likelihood (ML) and minimum-mean-square-error (MMSE) estimation approaches are employed.

The mechanism, by means of which roundoff alters the decisions of a finite word length implementation of the algorithm compared to the infinite precision case, is analyzed and a corresponding theoretical model is developed. Min-sum algorithm(MSA) and its modification are used in LDPC decoder implementations because of its error performance and low computation complexity. In this paper a modified min-sum LDPC decoding algorithm through approximation enhancement using the smallest three minimum values is presented. The proposed algorithm improves error performance and reduces decoder iterations. From the simulation results for 5G NR LDPC codes, we show that the proposed algorithm can achieve about 1.6dB improvement of FER compared to the min-sum decoding algorithm and provide about 10% reduction of the average iteration numbers compare to NMSA with optimum normalization factor.

A novel public audio watermarking scheme based on the statistical feature manipulation in wavelet domain combined with error correction coding technique is proposed in this paper. The algorithm is shown to be rather robust against a variety of common signal processing manipulations and synchronization attacks including the very challenging random cropping and time scale modifications. The watermarked audio has very high perceptual quality and is indistinguishable from the original signal. A blind watermark detection technique without resorting to the original signal is developed to identify the embedded watermark under various types of attacks. Security is guaranteed by applying chaotic sequence during embedding and detection. Several meaningful suggestions on how to use error correction coding technique to improve the robustness are given at the end.

In this work we analyse the performance of a joint coding-precoding scheme for OFDM systems over fading channels. The design of the precoder is based on the information redistribution of the input modulated symbols amongst all the output precoded symbols. The proposed precoder decreases the variance of the instantaneous noise power at the receiver produced by the channel variability. In this sense, the noise at the output of the receiver deprecoding block can be considered as gaussian causing an improvement in the performance of the channel coding scheme employed in the system. The proposed system is evaluated under realistic radio channels which present multipath frequency-selective fadings and are affected by Doppler spread.

In future content-centric networks, content is identified independently of its location. From an end-user's perspective, individual storage systems dissolve into a seemingly omnipresent structureless `storage fog'. Content should be delivered oblivious of the network topology, using multiple storage systems simultaneously, and at minimal coordination overhead. Prior works have addressed the advantages of error correction coding for distributed storage and content delivery separately. This work takes a comprehensive approach to highlighting the tradeoff between storage overhead and transmission overhead in uncoordinated content delivery from multiple coded storage systems. Our contribution is twofold. First, we characterize the tradeoff between storage and transmission overhead when all participating storage systems employ the same code. Second, we show that the resulting stark inefficiencies can be avoided when storage systems use diverse codes. What is more, such code diversity is not just technically desirable, but presumably will be the reality in the increasingly heterogeneous networks of the future. To this end, we show that a mix of Reed-Solomon, low-density paritycheck and random linear network codes achieves close-to-optimal performance at minimal coordination and operational overhead.

This paper studies video streaming system over a wireless medium. The major challenge is to provide a robust link along the transmission/transport path and most importantly through noisy channels/networks that could add or drop bytes by unforeseeable factors. As a remedy for this phenomenon, we combine forward errorcorrection, blind compensation and traffic shaping to improve the over all performance. We report on the experiments on this unique performance improvement method. The results of our study can find applications in WiMax and AVCP.

New run length limited (RLL) block codes for optical recording with higher suppression of the low-frequency components are presented. These result from new criteria and design features in the choice of the alphabet of the codewords, in the algorithms for the minimization of the low-frequency contents and in the merging procedure. Results of the spectra calculation according to the described design have shown very good improvements in the low-frequency contents of the EFM code. Detecting and correcting errors occurring in the transmitted data through a channel is a task of great importance in digital communication. In error correction coding (ECC), some redundant data is added with the original data while transmitting. By exploiting the properties of the redundant data, the errors occurring in the data from the transmission can be detected and corrected. In this thesis, a new coding algorithm named Signal Point Target Code has been studied and various properties of the proposed code have been extended. Signal Point Target Code (SPTC) uses a predefined shape within a given signal constellation to generate a parity symbol. In this thesis, the relation between the employed shape and the performance of the proposed code have been studied and an extension of the SPTC are presented. This research presents simulation results to compare the performances of the proposed codes. The results have been simulated using different programming languages, and a comparison between those programming languages is provided. The performance of the codes are analyzed and possible future research areas have been indicated.
