Vision navigation is an alternative to Global Position System(GPS) in environments where access to GPS is denied. Yet, the classical feature-based method has to extract feature observations from the image as input, which performs poor in environments with little features. To address this problem, a fusion of feature-based method and direct method is designed. The feature-based method is used in feature rich regions, while the direct method is used in regions with little features. Thus we utilize the fusion of two methods to improve the environmental adaptability of vision navigation. To improve the robustness to outliers, the Huber weight function is applied. Then the nonlinear optimization method is utilized to obtain the optimal camera pose. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can meet the needs of real-time autonomous navigation.

Three-Dimensional Material Mask Overlay Topology Optimization Approach With Truncated Octahedron Elements

This paper presents a 3D material mask overlay topology optimization approach using truncated octahedron elements and spheroidal masks. Truncated octahedron elements provide face connectivity between two juxtaposed elements, thus eliminating singular solutions inherently. A novel meshing scheme with Tetra-Kai-Decaheral or TKD (generic case of truncated octahedron) elements is proposed. The scheme is extended to parameterized generic-shaped domains. Various benefits of implementing the elements are also highlighted, and the corresponding finite element is introduced. Spheroidal negative masks are employed to determine the material within the elements. Seven design variables define each mask. A material density formulation is proposed, and sensitivity analysis for gradient-based optimization is developed. fmincon matlab function is used for the optimization. The efficacy and success of the approach are demonstrated by solving structures and compliant mechanism design problems. Compliance is minimized for the former, whereas a multi-criteria arising due to flexibility and stiffness measures is extremized for optimizing the mechanisms. Convergence of the optimization is smooth. The volume constraint is satisfied and remains active at the end of the optimization.

Image processing has become one of the most unavoidable fields of engineering. The way the applications are designed based on Image processing is simply superb. This study is drafted as a study paper aimed at reviewing the object recognition techniques supported in Image Processing Sector. Analyzing object recognition through the applications is a new approach and that is what we have tried through our paper. We have taken effort to check the utilization of Object Recognition techniques in the fields of Industrial applications which includes a. automobiles b. food and beverage sector and c. fabric sector. Then attention is paid towards robotic applications. Remote sensing is also observed to be one of the hottest sectors which deploys objects recognition techniques to a better extent. This paper presents the analysis of possible methods of a terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) data registration using 2D/3D detectors and descriptors. The developed approach, where point clouds are processed in form of panoramic images, orthoimages and 3D data, was described. The accuracy of the registration process was preliminary verified. The two approaches were analysed and compared: the 2D SIFT (Scale-Invariant feature Transform) detector and descriptor with the rasterized TLS data and the 3D SIFT detector with the 3D FPFH (Fast Point feature Histograms) descriptor. The feature points were found and preliminary matched using the OpenCV and PCL (Point Cloud Library) libraries. In order to find the best point cloud representation for the registration process, both the percentage and distribution of the correctly detected and matched points were analysed. The materials consisted of the point clouds of two chambers from the Museum of King John III's Palace in Wilanow. They were acquired using the Z+F 5006h and 5003 TLS scanners. The performed analysis showed that the lowest RMSE values were for the 2D detectors and orthoimages. However, in the case of the point number and distribution, better results were obtained for using the 3D detector.

For the design of intelligent receivers, the classification of modulation schemes becomes an increasingly important task. Interestingly, the numerous papers on this subject neglect algorithms for the classification of APSK signals, although these are recommended in the DVB-S2 standard. Therefore, a featurebased method for classification of modulation schemes typically used in satellite communications, i.e. PSK, QAM and APSK, is proposed. As features, fourth-and sixth-order cumulants of the input samples are employed in this context. The performance of the moderately complex algorithm is verified by several simulation scenarios.

This paper proposed a lane detection algorithm for urban environment. The algorithm was concerned on selecting an appropriate limited region of interest (ROI) by OTSU segmentation. Then candidates of lane markers were extracted by Canny, finally the lane boundaries were detected by Hough transform. The limited ROT helps to identification lane in an appropriate region. This process have the effect of enhancement in the speed of operation. The proposed algorithm was simulated in MATLAB. The test databases were shared by Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK). The experiments show that lane boundaries can be detected correctly although they are fade. feature-based method is usually affected by intension of image. Several characteristics of roads need to be considered further for detection more precisely.

Numerous researchers have worked on the knowledge-based semantics of words to clarify the ambiguity of (https://***/alimuttaleb/ Ali-Muttaleb/blob/master/***) synonyms in various natural-language processing fields, such as Wikipedia, websites, and social networks. This paper attempts to clarify ambiguities in the lexical semantics of taxonomy in social media. It proposes a new knowledge-based semantic representation approach that can handle ambiguity and high dimensionality issues in text mining. The proposed approach consists of two main components, namely, a feature-based method for incorporating the relationships between lexical sources and a topicbased reduction method to overcome high dimensionality issues. These components help weight and reduce the relevant features of a concept. The proposed approach captures further lexical semantic similarity between words. It also evaluates the use of (https://***) WordNet 3.1 in text clustering and constant weighting assumption in the feature-based method used to select concepts/words from social media. To address ambiguity, the semantics of concepts with small feature subset size reduction are represented, and the performance of the semantic similarity measurement is improved. The proposed method evaluates word semantic similarity using the (https://***/ alimuttaleb/semantictaxonomy/blob/master/***) MC30 dataset in WordNet and obtains the following results for semantic representation: r = 0.82, p = 0.81, m = 0.81, and nz = 0.96.

The paper presents the orientation analysis of terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) data. In the proposed data processing methodology, point clouds are considered as panoramic images and orthoimages enriched by depth maps. Computer vision ( CV) algorithms were used for the orientation;they were applied to test the correctness of the detection of tie points, as well as the accuracy, number and point distribution. For the source data, point clouds acquired from the terrestrial laser scanner Z+F 50063h for the two chambers in the Museum of King John III's Palace in Wilanow were utilized.

This paper presents a method for spatio-temporal matching of extracted vessels represented by their centrelines in X-ray angiography sequences. It can be seen also as a registration by establishing correspondences in time and in space between consecutive image frames. It allows finding a temporal mapping and one-to-one correspondences between features points while rejecting non-homologies. It relies on an elastic thin-plate spline model to estimate the non-rigid motion induced by the heart and rind the point correspondences between two images. The optimization process is led through a simulated annealing.

The article presents a reflection on the definition of the feature, which enabled the development of feature-based method for modeling of composite structural components. The need for defining feature is a direct result of the ambiguity of statements or narrow definitions and their applications. So far are well developed feature, which are used in process design (CAD) - geometric feature, design feature and in the process of manufacturing (CAM) - Technology feature, and also focused on functionality (CAE - motion simulation) functional feature. The feature representation of a fully functioning feature-based system that does the aggregation of information about the structure of a construction object made from layered composites.. This approach is based on a single, independent feature representation that can be used for design, finite element analysis, technology process planning. The paper describes the main approach to the engineering analysis with the use of FEM and a convenient method of simplifying the geometry of the model and the composition of the composite. Also discussed are possible extensions to features to enhance the finite element meshing process.
