This paper presents a real-time approach to the detection, isolation, and prediction of component failures in large-scale systems through the combination of two modules. The modules themselves are then used in conjunction with an inference engine, TEAMS-RT, which is part of Qualtech Systems Integrated Diagnostic Toolset, to provide the end user with accurate diagnostic and prognostic information about the state of the system. The first module is a filter used to "clean" observed test results from multiple sensors from system noise. The sensors have false alarm and missed detection probabilities that are not known a-priori, and must be estimated - ideally along with the accuracies of these estimates - online, within the inference engine. Further, recognizing a practical concern in most real systems, a sparsely instantiated observation vector must not be problematic. Multiple Hypothesis Tracking (MBT) is at the heart of the filtering algorithm and Beta prior distributions are applied to the sensor errors. The second module is a prognostic engine that uses an interacting multiple model (IMM) approach to track the "trajectory" of degrading sensors. Kalman filters estimate the movement in each dimension of the sensors. The current state and trajectory of each sensor is then used to predict the time to failure value, i.e., when the component corresponding to the sensor is no longer usable. The modules are integrated together and as part of the TEAMS-RT suite;logic is presented for the cases that they disagree.

An important part of any advanced driver assistance system is road geometry estimation. In this paper, we develop a Bayesian estimation algorithm using lane marking measurements received from a camera and measurements of the leading vehicles received from a radar-camera fusion system, to estimate the road up to 200 meters ahead in highway scenarios. The filtering algorithm uses a segmented clothoid-based road model. In order to use the heading of leading vehicles we need to detect if each vehicle is keeping lane or changing lane. Hence, we propose to jointly detect the motion state of the leading vehicles and estimate the road geometry using a multiple model filter. Finally the proposed algorithm is compared to an existing method using real data collected from highways. The results indicate that it provides a more accurate road estimation in some scenarios.

Shipping information-based management is rapidly developing, which results in increasingly research on location-sensing technologies for shipboard environment. However, these technologies have not been extensively applied on shipboard environment for two fatal limitations. Firstly, they waste resources of node when sometimes fewer nodes are asking for the positioning requirements. Secondly, they ignore the privacy protection while improving the positioning accuracy. In this paper, a new method called Multi-scale Localization Method is proposed, which is based on RSS information. A multi-precision location model is constructed from step level to room level to meet different requirements and protect privacy of people. Meanwhile, a filtering algorithm is utilized to reduce the localization error by decreasing RSSI noise. Computer simulations and real experiments have been conducted to evaluate the method on shipboard environment, the result shows that it performs well with better scalability, lower cost, and customized privacy protection.

Structure-from-Motion (SfM) applications attempt to reconstruct the three-dimensional (3D) geometry of an underlying scene from a collection of images, taken from various camera viewpoints. Traditional optimization techniques in SfM, which compute and refine camera poses and 3D structure, rely only on feature tracks, or sets of corresponding pixels, generated from color (RGB) images. With the abundance of reliable depth sensor information, these optimization procedures can be augmented to increase the accuracy of reconstruction. This paper presents a general cost function, which evaluates the quality of a reconstruction based upon a previously established angular cost function and depth data estimates. The cost function takes into account two error measures: first, the angular error between each computed 3D scene point and its corresponding feature track location, and second, the difference between the sensor depth value and its computed estimate. A bundle adjustment parameter optimization is implemented using the proposed cost function and evaluated for accuracy and performance. As opposed to traditional bundle adjustment, in the event of feature tracking errors, a corrective routine is also present to detect and correct inaccurate feature tracks. The filtering algorithm involves clustering depth estimates of the same scene point and observing the difference between the depth point estimates and the triangulated 3D point. Results on both real and synthetic data are presented and show that reconstruction accuracy is improved.

After excluding the usual device error, environmental error caused by electromagnetic interference persists in the acquisition system of heating flux of building envelope. This error makes the system instability and causes relatively large deviations of heat flux data, affecting building energy conservation measurement. To counter the problem of error in the data acquisition system, a new software filtering algorithm is put forward. The algorithm combines the idea of the mean and median filtering method, and specific algorithm formula and algorithm steps are given in this paper. Experimental results showed that the algorithm effectively improved the accuracy of data collection. For example, when I input 1mV into system from the sensor, average error of heat flux was decreased from 5.2% to 0.4%, and the maximum error was less than 2%.

The spatially modulated full polarization imaging system can acquire target images and polarization information by using spatial carrier fringes to encode full Stokes parameters in a single interference image. This polarization detecting technology uses a Savart Plate (SP) as a spatial modulation module encodes two-dimensional Stokes parameters S-0 similar to S-3 and the information of four Stokes quantities can be obtained by a single detection. The principle and mathematical model of this system is analyzed in details, and the image reconstruction method is also presented. Two different frequency domain filtering algorithms for demodulation are applied to reconstruct images in numerical simulation and laboratory experiment. The frequency domain algorithm based on two-dimensional Gauss low-pass filter does not have ringing, it has obvious advantages in image reconstruction. The measured data of polarized light and depolarized light from spatially modulated full polarization imaging system is demodulated by optimal algorithm. Reconstruction results show the polarization degree of depolarization light is less than 5%, which the one of polarized light generated by a polarizer is approximate to 100%. These results are coincident with the theoretical prediction well, which verify the feasibility and validity of the algorithm.

This paper studies the problem of outlier detection on uncertain data. We start with a comprehensive model considering both uncertain objects and their instances. An uncertain object has some inherent attributes and consists of a set of instances which are modeled by a probability density distribution. We detect outliers at both the instance level and the object level. To detect outlier instances, it is a prerequisite to know normal instances. By assuming that uncertain objects with similar properties tend to have similar instances, we learn the normal instances for each uncertain object using the instances of objects with similar properties. Consequently, outlier instances can be detected by comparing against normal ones. Furthermore, we can detect outlier objects most of whose instances are outliers. Technically, we use a Bayesian inference algorithm to solve the problem, and develop an approximation algorithm and a filtering algorithm to speed up the computation. An extensive empirical study on both real data and synthetic data verifies the effectiveness and efficiency of our algorithms.

According to requirements to detect the ship draft, a detection system of dynamic ship draft based on Multi-beam sonar System is researched. The data of ship draft is obtained by using Multi-beam sonar. The abnormal data in the ship draft data are grouped based on the distribution features: the discontinuous jump data and the continuous jump data. The convolution template and median filtering algorithm for the ship draft data is adopted to eliminate the discontinuous jump abnormal data when Multi-beam sonar are used to detect the bottom of the ship. For the continuous jump abnormal data that only appears in the ship stern, the least-square linear regression and prediction algorithm is put forward to eliminate the continuous jump abnormal data. Tests show that the detection system satisfies the measurement requirements and the median filtering algorithm and the least-square linear regression and prediction algorithm are more practical and effective.

Wheelset is one of the vital components of the ***,the wheels are regularly detected by using ultrasonic technology to check cracks,especially in wheel *** order to eliminate the failure risks of wheels,daily dynamic wheelset inspecting system is needed during the light maintenance period.A way-side arrayed ultrasonic technology is described in this paper to detect wheel *** using a specially designed track structure,the arrayed ultrasonic probes are arranged between the double-track for wheel rim *** the testing results,Φ3mm side drill hole in the wheel rim can be well detected at the running speed of 30～40km/*** noise is effectively suppressed by filtering algorithm,thus to improve the signal to noise ratio and the positive alarming *** present,the technology has been successfully used in Chinese high-speed train maintenance centers,rolling stocks and locomotive maintenance depots.

We present a filtering algorithm for processing out-of-sequence measurements (OOSMs) in multi-sensor target tracking using the particle filter (PF). Measurements can arrive out-of-sequence at a fusion center due to varying data pre-processing times at the sensor platforms and communication delays in a multi-sensor target tracking system. Standard filtering algorithms such as the Kalman filter (KF), extended KF (EKF), interacting multiple model (IMM) filter, and PF can not be directly applied to process the OOSM. Processing of the OOSM requires new algorithms within the framework of KF, EKF, IMM, or PF. The ground moving target indicator (GMTI) radar sensors play an important role in military and commercial domain such as surveillance of ground moving targets and air traffic control. The GMTI measurement model is a nonlinear function of the target state. Therefore, extension of the existing linear OOSM filtering algorithms to the GMTI filtering problem with OOSMs would require extended Kalman filter (EKF) type linearization and hence would be sub-optimal. As a superior alternative to the EKF, the PF has been successfully applied to a number of nonlinear filtering problems where the EKF or IMM using EKF is sub-optimal. Our OOSM PF algorithm does not require a large amount of storage and preliminary results based on numerical simulations show that the algorithm yields comparable results as previous algorithms.
