This paper presents a new control allocation scheme for advanced coordinated vehicle dynamics control (CVDC) that takes into account vehicle operating condition and tire-surface friction coefficient. Individual tire slip and slip angles are selected as the control variables to resolve the inherent tire force nonlinear constraints. A real-time adaptable accelerated fixed-point (AFP) method is proposed to solve the magnitude and rate constrained quadratic programming control allocation (CA) problem. It could achieve faster convergence rates when control variable saturations occur. The performance of this control allocation approach is evaluated for adverse driving conditions simulated using the CarSim (R) vehicle simulation package.

The seismic mitigation performance of the negative stiffness-inerter system (NSIS) is investigated by frequency-domain analysis and time-history analysis. In the NSIS, the inerter is connected with a dashpot and a negative stiffness (NS) spring in parallel, which amplifies the stroke of the dashpot. Therefore, the inerter and the NS provide a significant damping magnification effect, and this feature is desired for reducing the structural responses effectively when subjected to earthquakes. The closed-form expressions of optimal parameters for an uncontrolled SDOF system with NSIS are proposed by the "fixed point" method. Then, the performance of NSIS is evaluated under actual earthquakes. Results show that the optimal NSIS can substantially reduce the displacement and acceleration responses of the SDOF system simultaneously under far-field earthquakes. For instance, the seismic responses for most structural period ranges can be reduced by 20%-55%. Besides, the seismic mitigation capacity of the inerter system (IS), the negative stiffness amplifying damper (NSAD), and the NSIS are compared, and these three systems utilize the optimal parameters. The results show that when the structural period is smaller than one sec, the displacement responses of NSIS are 20% less than the IS and 11.1% less than the NSAD. And, the acceleration reduction ability of the NSIS is better than the IS but worse than the NSAD.

Asynchronous iterations can be used to implement fixed-point methods such as Jacobi and Gauss-Seidel on parallel computers with high synchronization costs. However, they are rarely considered in practice due to the low convergence rate. This paper describes an implementation on GPUs of a novel Power Flow analysis model using asynchronous iterations. We present our model for the solution of the Power Flow analysis problem, prove its convergence and evaluate its performance for a GPU execution.

This article mainly focuses on studying a class of novel nonlinear Volterra-Fredholm-type integro-differential equations(VFIDE) with delay. The primary purpose of the study is to obtain results concerning Ulam-Hyers-Rassias Stability and Ulam-Hyers Stability. Additionally, the article establishes the existence of unique solutions for the considered type VFIDE. Applying the Banach contraction mapping principle without imposing strict assumptions enhances the study's suitability for qualitative analysis. Two examples are presented to validate the proposed developments and the outcomes are visually represented through graphical illustrations.

For a first order (deterministic) mean-field game with nonlocal couplings, a classical solution is constructed for the associated, so-called master equation, a partial differential equation in infinite- dimensional space with a nonlocal term, assuming the time horizon is sufficiently small and the coefficients are smooth enough, without convexity conditions on the individual Hamiltonian. The couplings, albeit smooth, are not assumed to derive from a potential, which makes the result currently the most general one for short time horizon. The approach to obtain the master equation is inspired by that of Gangbo and Święch [GŚ15] for the problem in which the Hamiltonian is quadratic and the couplings derive from a potential, but we use a non-variational method and require further results of the calculus on the Wasserstein space that has been advanced recently by Gangbo et. al. [GC17; Gan18].

The success of the current Internet relies to a large extent on a cooperation between the users and the network. The network signals its current state to the users by marking or dropping packets. The users then strive to maximize the sending rate without causing network congestion. To achieve this, the users implement a ow-control algorithm that controls the rate at which data packets are sent into the Internet. More specically, the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is used by the users to adjust the sending rate in response to changing network conditions. TCP uses the observation of packet loss events and estimates of the round trip time (RTT) to adjust its sending rate. In this thesis we investigate and propose stochastic models for TCP. The models are used to estimate network performance like throughput, link utilization, and packet loss rate. The rst part of the thesis introduces the TCP protocol and contains an extensive TCP modeling survey that summarizes the most important TCP modeling work. Reviewed models are categorized as renewal theory models, xed-point methods, uid models, processor sharing models or control theoretic models. The merits of respective category is discussed and guidelines for which framework to use for future TCP modeling is given. The second part of the thesis contains six papers on TCP modeling. Within the renewal theory framework we propose single source TCP-Tahoe and TCP-NewReno models. We investigate the performance of these protocols in both a DropTail and a RED queuing environment. The aspects of TCP performance that are inherently depending on the actual implementation of the ow-control algorithm are singled out from what depends on the queuing environment. Using the xed-point framework, we propose models that estimate packet loss rate and link utilization for a network with multiple TCP-Vegas, TCP-SACK and TCP-Reno on/off sources. A faster algorithm of ICA is devised. This method utilizes multi-step past information with the existing fixed-point method. The use of past information comes from the idea of surrogate optimization. The speed and implemented software are checked for both simulated and read data. The presented ICA, named Rapid ICA, is applied to image-to-image retrieval without indices. Images judged to be similar reflected user's opinion well. © 2010 IEEE.

Some methods for solving initial value problem used to solve the boundary value problem (BVP) of ordinary differential equation were discussed and contrasted. These methods include the finite difference method, shooting method, fixed-point method and numerical continuation method. The study results show that these methods are very effective to solve BVP. Especially, the fixed-point method and the continuation method can save computing time and memory element.

A framework for railway transit network design with first-mile shared autonomous vehicles

Providing a railway transit system (RTS) in less populated areas is a challenging task for transportation agencies due to its high construction and operating costs. With the advent of automation, shared autonomous vehicles (SAVs) as an integral part of public transit services has the potential to enhance the design of transit systems. In this paper, we present a joint optimization framework of railway transit network design and SAV first-mile service that minimizes the total cost of the combined RTS-SAV services and commuters' waiting time, while serving a dynamic travel demand in the network. The proposed model optimizes the SAV fleet size and the RTS alignment while enabling vehicle relocations to tackle the vehicle imbalance issue in the SAV service. Due to the non-linear and mixed-integer formulation, we develop a fixed-point algorithm for this joint RTS-SAV problem where we transform the original problem into a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) formulation. Our results indicate that the joint RTS-SAV services can be constructed and operated at a lower cost than either of the RTS or SAV services alone. Furthermore, the resulting joint RTS-SAV services are underpinned by a shorter railway alignment and larger fleet size rather than a multi-link extension. Additionally, the joint RTS-SAV services is robust to the variation in total demand, with respect to the railway alignment, SAV utilization and commuters' waiting time.
