This paper describes a methodology to improve the quality of verification and an approach to dimension the arithmetic of register transfer level (RTL) model of the digital part of the mixed-signal system. This includes the refinement of the high level model of the system and generation of a MATLAB fixed-point model and test-bench for MATLAB-HDL co-simulation. Additionally an approach for the dimensioning of an adaptive equalizer in frequency domain is discussed. The proposed methodology and results of analysis are applied to verify 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Ethernet PHY IP.

This article investigates the capability for backward swimming of a carangiform-fish-like robot with only three joints. A simple dynamic model based on a fixedpoint, a point in the body without perpendicular oscillation, is first developed to analyze the feasibility of backward motion for the robot. Through this theoretical analysis, we find that the fixedpoint lies closer to the robotic fish tail with higher backward swimming speeds. Combining the theoretical analysis with experimental optimization, we further explore backward swimming patterns using particle swarm optimization. After a series of online optimal experiments, we find several locomotion gaits that can make the robotic fish swim backward, and the corresponding fixedpoints are similarly located near the tail. The backward swimming velocity is strongly correlated with the fixedpoint position along the robotic fish body, which verifies the effectiveness of our fixed-point model.

Recently, it has been pointed out that transport models should reflect all significant traveler choice behavior. In particular, trip generation, trip distribution, modal split as well as route choice should be modeled in a consistent process based on the equilibrium between transport supply and travel demand. In this paper a general fixed-point approach that allows dealing with multi-user stochastic equilibrium assignment with variable demand is presented. The main focus was on investigating the effectiveness of internal and external approaches and of different algorithmic specifications based on the method of successive averages within the internal approach. The vector demand function was assumed non-separable, non-symmetric cost functions were adopted and implementation issues, such updating step and convergence criterion, were investigated. In particular the aim was threefold: (i) compare the internal and the external approaches;(ii) investigate the effectiveness of different algorithmic specifications to solve the variable demand equilibrium assignment problem through the internal approach: (iii) investigate the incidence of the number of the links with nonseparable and/or asymmetrical cost functions. The proposed analyses were carried out with respect to two real-scale urban networks regarding medium-size urban contexts in Italy. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

This paper presents a fixed-point model for evaluating the reliability of stochastic and time-dependent networks with multiple parking facilities. The proposed model combines a supply model that simulates the time-dependent attributes of road and parking supplies and their variations with a demand model that simultaneously considers heterogeneous travelers' choices on departure time, route and parking location. In the proposed model, travelers are differentiated by their values of time, and parking locations are characterized by facility type. Schedule reliability and parking reliability are introduced as new performance indices for the evaluation of the level of service of a road network during time of day. A heuristic solution algorithm that uses a combination of the Monte Carlo simulation approach with the method of successive averages is proposed to estimate these two reliability measures. Numerical results show that the reliability performances of road networks are significantly influenced by the network congestion level and the capacities of road and parking facilities. The proposed model provides some new insights for assessing the impacts of various transport policies and infrastructure improvements at a strategic level.
