Based on fractal coding and fractal singular value neighbor distance, an improved approach for cell image recognition is proposed in this paper. fractal singular value neighbor distance is brought forward based on fractal neighbor distance and singular value decomposition. fractal coding and local singular value decomposition are used to improve the recognition rate. The experimental results show that the method can keep a good robustness to the variation of illumination, pose and expression, compared with traditional fractal neighbor distances. Furthermore, the method shows that the training time is short and recognition rate is high.

In this paper, the fractal methods of compressing still images are investigated for transmission in multimedia applications. A modified search algorithm for similar blocks in the image is proposed, which differs from the existing by parallel simultaneous comparison of rank blocks in all domain-based indicators. Domain and rank blocks are described by feature vector. The feature vector includes the mean deviation in the block, the asymmetry in the block, the difference in contrast between the pixels in the block, the average deviation of the pixel brightness within the domain (rank) block. The deviation error allows you to adjust the compression ratio. If the desired quality is not achieved, then continue to reduce the size of or rank, or domain blocks. The code sequence is formed from the brightness values, color difference signals of the rank block, its feature vector, and block addresses that are similar to it. The dependences of the compression ratio and the signal-to-noise ratio on the standard deviation of the average brightness of the rank blocks of the descendants on the brightness of the original rank block are obtained.

With the wide application of digital images in the network, the problems of information security and transmission efficiency need to be solved urgently. fractal encoding as an efficient compression method, its security is not guaranteed. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a new image compression and encryption scheme based on chaotic map and frequency division joint compression coding, which uses the combination of fractal encoding and adaptive-thresholding sparsification to compress images. Arnold scrambling and chaos-based plane scrambling diffusion are embedded in two compression processes respectively. In addition, an efficient encryption algorithm is designed based on the coupling-enhanced chaotic map, which encrypt the compressed data as a whole through simultaneous scrambling of parent blocks and sub-blocks and zigzag round-trip diffusion. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed image compression and encryption scheme is suitable for gray and color images, and can achieve higher compression ratio and improve the efficiency of fractal compression. The designed encryption algorithm is reliable, and more efficient than several advanced image encryption schemes.

The image watermarking technology is a technique of embedding hidden data in an original image. In this paper, a new watermarking method for embedding watermark bits based on Chaos-fractal coding is given. A chaotic signal is defined as being deterministic, pseudo periodic and presenting sensitivity to initial conditions. Combining a chaos system with fractal coding plays an important role in the security, invisibility and capacity of the proposed scheme. The main idea of the new proposed algorithm for coding is to determine a set of selective blocks for steady embedding. Simulation results show that the CFC algorithm (Chaos-fractal coding) has a confident capacity. The embedding technique that proposed in this paper is quite general, and can be applied to the extracting scheme with demanded changes.

In this paper, an improved Monro's zero-searching fractal coding method is presented. It is enabled to use only one affine transformation and sliding domain block structure to get the fractal approximation for each image block The method is easier and can better exploit the self-similarities between image blocks. The Peak SNR can be improved by 0.6-1.1 dB under the same condition and the encoding can be carried out very fast.

This paper proposes a new fractal coding algorithm for 3 D free multi-view HD video based on the monocular HD video fractal coding system. This algorithm combines not only motion compensation prediction and disparity compensation prediction, but also inter-component prediction, it can effectively remove redundancy. In addition, for the special features of the depth map different from the texture map, a non-rectangular block segmentation prediction mode is designed to reduce the distortion of the object edges in the depth map. Using the correlation between the depth map and the corresponding color texture map, the pattern pre-selection algorithm is designed to avoid unnecessary prediction process. The non-rectangular block split mode or the legacy intra prediction mode is adaptively selected. The experimental results show that the fractal 3D free multi-view HD video coding system proposed in this paper is superior to the MVC standard JMVC8.5 in coding performance. It reduces the coding complexity and coding rate of three-dimensional free multi-view HD video and improves coding efficiency. The code rate is reduced by an average of 67.90%, the PSNR is increased by an average of 9.15 dB, and the coding time is reduced by an average of 23.35%.

A method for fractal coding for infrared image based on adaptive matching is presented. By using the correlation between image blocks, this method limits the matching between the range blocks and domain blocks to be on the dynamic windows centered at the mean of the standard deviation of the range blocks. The length of the windows and their width are adaptively adjusted by the planar histograms of the range blocks. By comparison with the conventional methods the experiments show that the approach can not only reduce the computation cost greatly but also increase the compression ratio efficiently.

In this paper, we use the approach of fractal segmentation and improved fractal image coding, and match images by the decoded images which we use as the fractal features of original images, taking advantage of the stable features which the images of nature scenes have. Experiments show that much higher accuracy and probability of matching for images of nature scenes were obtained than using traditional methods such as mean absolute difference of graylevel or edge features.
