Reforestation with exotic plans may alter the natural flora due to uncontrolled expansion of the inserted species. This study evaluated the potential of the object-oriented classification method using fuzzy logic algorithm for the differentiation of forest areas in intermediate/advanced stage and areas reforested with exotic species around the Rio Canoas State Park in Santa Catarina State of Brazil, using high spatial resolution SPOT6 imagery. The study region has regional importance for the preservation of mixed ombrophilous forest remnants and is belonging to the Biosphere Reserve of the Atlantic Rainforest, and hence, it is important to monitor the advance of exotic species in the region. The methodology consisted of the creation of the hierarchical network and process tree with numerous descriptor tests in Trimble Ecognition software, principal component analysis, multi-resolution segmentation algorithm and fuzzy logic functions. It was concluded that the use of principal components associated with the red band by a simple ratio of digital levels is extremely effective for identifying the areas reforested with exotic species. fuzzy logic pertinence functions are the key in discriminating natural forest areas and areas reforested with exotic species in the study region accurately. The object-oriented classification was validated by points collected in the field and presented an overall accuracy level of 0.83 and Kappa index of 0.78, concluding that it is an efficient methodology in the delimitation of exotic species reforestation areas around Rio Canoas State Park.

The dc boosting and integration system has been increasingly used in photovoltaic power plants due to its flexible control and excellent performance. The dc boosting and integration system has complex topology and many photovoltaic branches. Because power electronic devices cannot withstand large fault currents, protection with fast operating speed is required. Thus, the starting element has to start quickly and sensitively, and the protective relays must identify the faulty section correctly based on the instantaneous value of the distorted transient fault current. Considering these, the conventional protection carries great potential for disoperation;therefore, a novel active protection is proposed. The starting elements start more sensitively, and the faulty region is correctly distinguished through identifying the fault information generated by active control. The effective fault information is derived from distorted transient instantaneous current data through the fuzzy logic algorithm. Simulation results reveal that the proposed protection can accurately operate within 1 ms when noise is up to 20 dB and transition resistance is up to 500 omega.

In this paper a Sliding Mode Control scheme (SMC) applied to the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) speed control is designed and improved. A fuzzy logic algorithm is added to mitigate chattering caused by discontinuous term in steady states, and to ensure good performances of the controller in transient states. The proposed fuzzy-SMC performance is tested in simulation and experimental results are obtained using eZdsp F28335.

The spraying of plant protection product(PPP)in orchards is a very hazardous working procedure,owing to the spray drift caused by the uneven operation of conventional axial boom *** research describes an intelligent automated system for precise(PPP)distribution in *** is based on an intelligent decision-making model using ultrasonic measurements of leaf area density under laboratory conditions,which serve to trigger electromagnetic valves(EMV)on the axial boom sprayer.A fuzzy logic algorithm was an integrated part of the intelligent system for controlling the PPP by generating the pulse width modulation signal and applying it through the EMV of the prototype boom *** results showed that by using an intelligent decision-making model,the same efficiency as with conventional methods could be achieved,but with reduced usage of plant protection ***,the intelligent automated system used 4.8 times less spray mixture than the conventional one.

The freezing of gait (FOG) is a common and highly distressing motor symptom of patients with Parkinson's Disease (PD). Effective management of FOG is difficult given its episodic nature, heterogeneous manifestation and limited responsiveness to drug treatment. Clinicians found alternative approaches, such as rhythmic cueing. We built a smartphone-based architecture in agreement with acceptability and usability requirements which is able to gather data and information useful to detect FOG. In this work fusing together the information of freeze index, energy, cadency variation and the ratio of the derivative of the energy a novel fuzzy logic based algorithm is developed. Performances of the fuzzy algorithm are compared with two other algorithms showing its capability to reduce false negative detection thus improving sensitivity and specificity.

During the period of regular epidemic prevention, reasonable ventilation management can reduce the probability of virus infection. In the paper, the STM32F429 microcontroller is used as the control center of the whole system, and the AP6181 chip is used to obtain the local weather conditions of the network API, and a screw-based window switch actuator is designed. To comprehensively consider the ventilation requirements and the human comfort which influenced by temperature and humidity, the fuzzy logic algorithm is used to make control strategies, and the system can also be remotely controlled through new designed mobile APP, which realizes the intelligent management of the laboratory ventilation system. In this paper, the simulated windows are tested. The results show that the communication success rate of the system is 96%, and the movement error of the actuator is 5mm, which can meet the requirements of laboratory ventilation system.

With the increasing number of cases of pathogenic diseases caused by airborne transmission of microorganisms, such as Staphylococcus aureus, interest when it comes to the disinfection of surfaces is increasing. One of the many devices that have been utilized for surface disinfection is the use of Ultraviolet Light radiation, specifically UVC radiation, as a sterilizer or disinfectant. In this study, a UVC disinfecting machine based on Arduino Nano was developed with a mobile application to control and enable the device's functionalities. The UVC disinfecting machine can be manually controlled via the generated mobile application and automatically navigated using the Line Tracking algorithm. To ensure the safety of the people utilizing the device, the UVC disinfecting machine will be encircled with several motion sensors and a Wi-Fi camera module. The sensors and camera automatically disable its UVC lamp once it detects human presence by applying the algorithms of fuzzy logic and YOLOv3. This study provides a versatile, safe, and harmless UVC disinfecting machine while effectively disinfecting objects and surfaces.

This article discusses about how the variables affect the safety practice level of employees in a manufacturing organization. Brief gap analysis study is made between existing standard in calculating safety practice level index of the organization, and the proposed model of safety index. Left out variable in existing standard is added in proposed model of calculation of safety practice index. A new model is proposed to calculate safety practice level for manufacturing organization considering the expert opinion in manufacturing organization. fuzzy logic technique is used to calculate safety practice attributes and indexed variables which affect the safety level is approached through weighted scale method. fuzzy algorithm model helps the users to calculate dependent variable much faster than other techniques. Considering the complexity, which is involved in independent variables affecting safety practice level of organization, fuzzy technique gives easier calculation process. The paper discusses variables which were stipulated to safety standards taken in to consideration. With the usage of fuzzy logic technique affecting variable's magnitude is calculated and improvement actions are taken accordingly. Research scope is limited to that stipulated company standard.

Hierarchical energy-saving routing algorithm using fuzzy logic in wireless sensor networks

Currently, sensor energy assembly in wireless sensor networks is limited, and clustering methods are not effective to improve sensor energy consumption rate. Thus, a hierarchical energy-saving routing algorithm based on fuzzy logic was constructed by considering three aspects: residual energy value, centrality, and distance value between nodes and base stations. The remaining sensor nodes selected by fuzzy logic algorithm have a longer time to live and greater residual energy than those selected by low-power adaptive clustering hierarchical protocol algorithm, fuzzy unequal clustering algorithm, and fuzzy logic cluster head election algorithm. For network life cycle, the number of rounds in which the first dead node appears, in descending order, is studied: energy-saving routing algorithm (400 rounds) > new geographic cellular structure algorithm (300 rounds) > virtual grid based dynamic routes adjustment algorithm (100 rounds). Under the same experimental round, energy-saving routing algorithm's remaining energy curve always reaches its maximum. The energy-saving routing algorithm by fuzzy logic constructed by this research institute can significantly improve network energy utilization, which has certain reference value.

The fuzzy logic Method to Efficiently Optimize Electricity Consumption in Individual Housing

Electricity demand shifting and reduction still raise a huge interest for end-users at the household level, especially because of the ongoing design of a dynamic pricing approach. In particular, end-users must act as the starting point for decreasing their consumption during peak hours to prevent the need to extend the grid and thus save considerable costs. This article points out the relevance of a fuzzy logic algorithm to efficiently predict short term load consumption (STLC). This approach is the cornerstone of a new home energy management (HEM) algorithm which is able to optimize the cost of electricity consumption, while smoothing the peak demand. The fuzzy logic modeling involves a strong reliance on a complete database of real consumption data from many instrumented show houses. The proposed HEM algorithm enables any end-user to manage his electricity consumption with a high degree of flexibility and transparency, and "reshape" the load profile. For example, this can be mainly achieved using smart control of a storage system coupled with remote management of the electric appliances. The simulation results demonstrate that an accurate prediction of STLC gives the possibility of achieving optimal planning and operation of the HEM system.
