Increasing the Sensitivity of the Method of Early Detection of Cyber-Attacks in Telecommunication Networks Based on Traffic Analysis by Extreme Filtering

The paper proposes a method for improving the accuracy of early detection of cyber attacks with a small impact, in which the mathematical expectation is a fraction of the total, and the pulse repetition period is quite long. Early detection of attacks against telecommunication networks is based on traffic analysis using extreme filtering. The algorithm of fuzzy logic for deciding on the results of extreme filtering is suggested. The results of an experimental evaluation of the proposed method are presented. They demonstrate that the method is sensitive even with minor effects. In order to eliminate the redundancy of the analyzed parameters, it is enough to use the standard deviation and the correlation interval for decision making.

Anti-windup embedded magnetic actuator applied for near-high-speed milling

A fuzzy anti-windup (AW) compensator is proposed and applied to the embedded cylindrical-array magnetic actuator (ECAMA) to ensure the superior performance of spindle position regulation for milling machines under actuator saturation. Since ECAMA is a type of active magnetic bearing (AMB), the supplied coil current and the induced magnetic force are both limited by the maximum current and power output of the AMB and the associated amplifier. Once the magnetic actuator is saturated, the required control input cannot be realized by ECAMA and may lead to drastic tremble of spindle position. In this work, an AW compensator, based on fuzzy logic algorithm, is therefore proposed to rectify the control input to ECAMA. By employing commercial software MATLAB/Simulink and signal processing interface, Module DS1104 by dSPACE, the efficacy of the fuzzy AW compensation is practically verified by intensive experiments.

Terrain classification using intelligent tire

A wheeled ground robot was designed and built for better understanding of the challenges involved in utilization of accelerometer based intelligent tires for mobility improvements. Since robot traction forces depend on the surface type and the friction associated with the tire-road interaction, the measured acceleration signals were used for terrain classification and surface characterization. To accomplish this, the robot was instrumented with appropriate sensors (a tri-axial accelerometer attached to the tire innerliner, a single axis accelerometer attached to the robot chassis and wheel speed sensors) and a data acquisition system. Wheel slip was measured accurately using encoders attached to driven and non-driven wheels. A fuzzy logic algorithm was developed and used for terrain classification. This algorithm uses the power of the acceleration signal and wheel slip ratio as inputs and classifies all different surfaces into four main categories;asphalt, concrete, grass, and sand. The performance of the algorithm was evaluated using experimental data and good agreements were observed between the surface types and estimated ones. (C) 2017 ISTVS. Published by Elsevier Ltd. Wireless battery charging control for electric vehicles: a user-involved approach

This study presents a user-involved wireless battery charging approach for electric vehicles, which enables the battery to reach the user-specified state by regulating the charging current provided by a wireless charger with double-sided inductor-capacitor-capacitor compensation topology. Specifically, an optimal state of charge (SOC) trajectory is first generated through formulating and solving an optimisation issue with the consideration of user demand and operating constraints. Next, a cascade control strategy is proposed to regulate the wireless charger to make the battery track the scheduled charging trajectory. The out loop control designs suitable charging current for SOC trajectory tracking, which can effectively suppress the violation of the charging constraints by on-line compensating the battery model bias. In the inner loop, a fuzzy proportion-integration (PI) algorithm is proposed to control the wireless charger to provide the charging current designed by the out loop, in which fuzzy logic algorithm is utilised to on-line tune the PI gains to improve the control performance. Extensive real-time results demonstrate the effectiveness and promise of the proposed user-involved wireless battery charging control strategy.

In spite of the many research contributions that have been introduced in the recent literature, maximum power point trackers (MPPT) still carry important issues related to convergence speed, computation load, accuracy, ease of implementation, and so on. The fuzzy logic based MPPT presents high steady-state performances in terms of speed of convergence and accuracy. However, the complexity of implementation is the first drawback of this MPPT type especially for embedded systems. In addition, fuzzy algorithms show relatively a large computation time compared to most of conventional MPPTs. In this way, the aim of this paper is to benefit from fuzzy logic advantages along with M5P model tree based modeling. Indeed, a new fast MPPT algorithm is established by modeling the fuzzy logic algorithm using M5P model tree that translates the model on simple if-then instructions. The new model has been trained based on simulation based dataset recorded for 500 W/m(2) irradiation. The obtained model presents a good agreement with the fuzzy algorithm even for different irradiations and weather conditions. Furthermore, the developed algorithm shows improved performances compared to P&O and InCon algorithms. Moreover, satisfactory results have been obtained when the new algorithm has been subjected to one-day profile of real measurement.

Counterbalance of cutting force for advanced milling operations

The goal of this work is to concurrently counterbalance the dynamic cutting force and regulate the spindle position deviation under various milling conditions by integrating active magnetic bearing (AMB) technique, fuzzy logic algorithm and an adaptive self-tuning feedback loop. Since the dynamics of milling system is highly determined by a few operation conditions, such as speed of spindle, cut depth and feedrate, therefore the dynamic model for cutting process is more appropriate to be constructed by experiments, instead of using theoretical approach. The experimental data, either for idle or cutting, are utilized to establish the database of milling dynamics so that the system parameters can be on-line estimated by employing the proposed fuzzy logic algorithm as the cutting mission is engaged. Based on the estimated milling system model and preset operation conditions, i.e., spindle speed, cut depth and feedrate, the current cutting force can be numerically estimated. Once the current cutting force can be real-time estimated, the corresponding compensation force can be exerted by the equipped AMB to counterbalance the cutting force, in addition to the spindle position regulation by feedback of spindle position. On the other hand, for the magnetic force is nonlinear with respect to the applied electric current and air gap, the characteristics of the employed AMB is investigated also by experiments and a nonlinear mathematic model, in terms of air gap between spindle and electromagnetic pole and coil current, is developed. At the end, the experimental simulations on realistic milling are presented to verify the efficacy of the fuzzy controller for spindle position regulation and the capability of the dynamic cutting force counterbalance. Study on deep-learning-based identification of hydrometeors observed by dual polarization Doppler weather radars

Hydrometeor classification for dual polarization Doppler weather radar echo is a procedure that identifies hydrometeor types based on the scattering properties of precipitation particles to polarized electromagnetic waves. The difference in shape, size, or spatial orientation among different types of hydrometeor will produce different scattering characteristics for the electromagnetic waves in a certain polarization state. Moreover, the polarimetric measurements, which are calculated from the radar data and closely associated with these characteristics, are also different. The comprehensive utilization of these polarimetric measurements can effectively improve the identification accuracy of the phase of various hydrometeors. In this paper, a new identification method of the hydrometeor type based on deep learning (DL) and fuzzy logic algorithm is proposed: firstly, the feature extraction method based on deep learning is used for training the correlation among multiple parameters and extracting the relatively independent features. Secondly, the Softmax classifier is applied to classify the precipitation patterns, including rain, snow, and hail, and it is based on the features extracted by deep learning algorithm. Finally, the fuzzy logic algorithm is adopted to identify the hydrometeor types in various precipitation patterns. In order to test the accuracy of the classification results, the hydrometeor classifier has been applied to a stratiform cloud precipitation process, and it is found that the classification results agree well with the other polarimetric products.

With improvement and development of the science of robotics, the bionic robotic fish has attracted great attentions in recent years. Path planning is a key point in the field of bionic robotic fish control. This paper takes full account of underwater motion characteristics of bionic robotic fish, and puts forward path planning based on fuzzy logic algorithm aiming at problems of former algorithms such as deviation due to accuracy defect of shooting area and angle and tail motions;by referring to obstacle avoidance thinking and decision making process of people while walking, it makes further planning according to distance from obstacles to the robotic fish and the direction angle so as to realize accurate ball shooting.
