Cooperative task implement of multiple aircraft is a basic character of modern aircraft application. It highly makes requirement of task assignment and route plan. Task assignment is precondition of route plan, which can alleviate pressure of route plan in the sequel, so it can be seen as initial extension of route plan. To solve problem of task assignment and route plan of multiple missiles between land launch and mid-guidance switch, the integrated method of generic algorithm (GA) and dynamic program (DP) is presented. The software of route plan for multiple missiles of initial stage is developed. Use of the software shows engineering effectiveness of this integrated method.

generic aspect in the automated detection of obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea (OSAN) events based on only oxygen saturation (Sp02) is investigated. The objective is to develop and verify an algorithm (GTA) capable of generalizing three auto detection algorithms (ADA, DDA, MNA) which represent the classical threshold algorithms based on clinical definitions for desaturation. This is the first attempt a generic algorithm is developed for the classical threshold algorithms for automated detection of desaturation. This makes efficient the benchmarking of new automated algorithms for the detection of OSAH events based on the analysis of Sp02 alone, in terms of time, cost and resources. GTA is the consequence of recognizing a common pattern in the response characteristics of ADA, DDA, MNA and generalizing them. The most significant contribution is the reduction from three different auto detection procedures to two rules for event extraction and another two for event authentication. This has been verified against detection outcomes and operating characteristics. Full agreement is found between GTA and ADA, DDA, MNA with minimal rounding error. The credibility of assessment is founded on a standard comparison basis for all algorithms, which includes database, optimal performance criteria and evaluation method.

Vector quantization (VQ) is an effective mechanism for image data compression. Each image block is replaced with a quantized index to compress the original information;individuals can quickly restore the condensed data to the host ones using this index table. The main merits of VQ lie in fixed compression ratio and fast decompression. The codebook generation is the principal component in a VQ mechanism. A codebook must consist of a set of representative codewords. Hence, how to construct a significant codebook is the primary challenge in designing a VQ mechanism. We propose a novel codebook generation method by adopting the generic algorithm (GA) to solve optimization problems. Each codeword is considered as a gene, while the codebook is regarded as an individual in the new mechanism. Furthermore, we improve the convergence speed of GA while training a codebook. According to experimental results, the new scheme can provide high-quality codebooks for vector quantization, compared to the well-known LBG algorithm and Ying et al.'s method.

Artificial neural network-genetic algorithm based optimization for the immobilization of cellulase on the smart polymer Eudragit L-100

Cellulase was covalently immobilized on a smart polymer, Eudragit L-100 by carbodiimide coupling. Using data of central composite design, response surface methodology (RSM) and artificial neural network (ANN) were developed to investigate the effect of pH, carbodiimide concentration, and coupling time on the activity yield of immobilized cellulase. Results showed simulation and prediction accuracy of ANN was apparently higher compared to RSM. The Maximum activity yield obtained from RSM was 57.56% at pH 5.54, carbodiimide concentration 0.32%, and coupling time 3.03 h, where the experimental value was 60.87 +/- 4.79%. Using ANN as fitness function, a maximum activity yield of 69.83% was searched by genetic algorithm at pH 5.07, carbodiimide concentration 0.36%, and Coupling time 4.10 h, where the experimental value was 66.75 +/- 5.21%. ANN gave a 9.7% increase of activity yield over RSM. After reusing immobilized cellulase for 5 cycles, the remaining productivity was over 50%. (C) 2009 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Measurement of total flavone content in snow lotus (Saussurea involucrate) using near infrared spectroscopy combined with interval PLS and genetic algorithm

NIR spectroscopy technique was attempted to measure total flavone content in snow lotus in this work. Interval partial least square with genetic algorithm (iPLS-GA) was used to select the efficient spectral regions and variables in model calibration. The performance of the final model was back-evaluated according to root mean square error of calibration (RMSEC) and correlation coefficient (R-c) in calibration set, and tested by mean square error of prediction (RMSEP) and correlation coefficient (R-p) in prediction set. The optimal iPLS-GA model was obtained with 6 PLS factors, when 5 spectral regions and 53 variables were selected. The measurement results of final model were achieved as follow: RMSEC (%) = 0.8347/R-c = 0.9444 in the calibration set, and RMSEP (%) = 1.0766/R-p = 0.9006 in the prediction set. Finally, iPLS-GA moded showed its excellent performance, when compared with other 5 different PLS models. This work demonstrated that total flavone content in snow lotus could be measured by NIR spectroscopy technique, and iPLS-GA revealed its superiority in model calibration. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. As the tracked vehicles often run in harsh environments, a certain type of tracked vehicles with hydrodynamic and hydrostatic steering mechanism often have a big pressure fluctuation in the hydrostatic system in the steering process and the steering properties are seriously affected. In order to smoothly match the hydrodynamic and hydrostatic steering mechanism, we implemented the electro-hydraulic proportional valves instead of the oil-filling valves that equipped in the real vehicle and modeled the steering system in the Matlab/Simulink platform in this paper. A PID controller that optimized by the generic algorithm (GA) can control the oil flow into the hydraulic equipped according to the fluctuation of pressure was designed. The simulation results showed that the optimized system inhibit the pressure fluctuation well, with a rapid dynamic response and good steering performance.

For Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV) to flight autonomously, the decision making system must be developed to replace the remote control by the pilot. To shorten the learning time and increase the real-time response, the inverse-design (ID) method is presented to calculate the control input decision inversely by using the desired output and the predictor-corrector algorithm which uses the proportional-integral predicted initial value to compute the control inputs. In the mission description process, the quasi-uniform B-spline is used to generate the desired output by a succession of control points. The genetic algorithm (GA) is also implemented to compare the computing time and the development complexity with the ID method. Simulation shows the ID method based on the predictor-corrector algorithm can be validly and efficiency used in the autonomous flight control system decision making of the UAV, and the ID method is preponderant in online computing, development and computing time reducing than the GA. The analysis and ID method presented in this paper will produce a direct benefit in relation to the decision making method and the design of the UAV autonomous flight control system.

Applying the General Regression Neural Network to Forecast Stock Closing Price

In virtue of good generalization capability as well as Multiple Input and Multiple Output functions, the Neural Network has been extensively applied to various fields in recent years. Among neural networks, the General Regression Neural Network is frequently used in function approximation and classification forecast or continuous variables forecast. Thus, the General Regression Neural Network was intentionally adopted to predict closes in this study. In the first place, we took financial ratios of 37 Taiwanese listed private finance or insurance enterprises as sample data, and picked up the enterprises with their business performance ranking top two as the investment objectives by the Grey Relational Analysis. Next, for the purpose of choosing variables for one forecast model, the principal analysis was applied to technical indices as regards collected share prices. Finally, divided into training data and testing data, the data for variables selected was employed to develop the General Regression Neural Network forecast model.
