Corners detection on finger vein images using the improved harris algorithm

An improved harris corner detection algorithm is proposed based on Barron operator, since harris corner detection algorithm has a poor accuracy in positioning complex corner detection and may miss certain real corners. Firstly, the image gradient is calculated by using Barron operator to reduce the calculation errors from Prewitt operator or Sobel operator. Secondly, the centre B-spline function is used to smooth image, filter noise, and retain the corners information better. Thirdly, a non-maximal inhibition and corners sieving method is used to determine whether the detected corners are real corners or not. A square window is centered at the pixel and eliminate the corner if the value of the corner response function is non-maximal in the window. And then divide the test image into several blocks so as to process each block independently, and use a cyclic iterative method to determine the threshold value to make sure that the real corners are accurately selected. Finally, experiments indicate the algorithm has relatively great noise proof ability and is able to extract complex corners effectively. (C) 2014 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved.

As the accuracy of standard harris algorithm is not high in the application of behavior recognition, this paper proposed a behavior recognition model based on scale adaptive local spatio-temporal characteristics harris algorithm, which firstly uses local spatio-temporal characteristics function to achieve fast convolution in order to reduce complexity of the algorithm, and then uses scale adaptive local spatio-temporal characteristics function to replace Gaussian function as the filter of the algorithm, and finally calculates the adaptive matrix and the response value of the angle points in order to improve the accuracy of behavior recognition. Simulation results show that the accuracy of the harris algorithm based on scale adaptive local spatio-temporal characteristics, proposed in this paper, is higher than the standard harris algorithm on behavior recognition.

harris is one of the most widely used corner detection algorithms which is based on intensity. Because of the practice of Gaussian smoothing link, harris algorithm has a good performance on its stability and robustness, but it is also the direct reason of the limitation of its computing speed. Furthermore, its positioning accuracy of T-type, L-type and Arrow-type corners is low. In this paper, an improved algorithm is presented to solve the efficiency and accuracy problem of harris algorithm. Firstly, we integrated the corner response function of MIC algorithm into the harris algorithm to reduce the calculation amount of Gaussian smoothing link, so that the computing speed is obviously increased. Then we investigate a 3X3 mask to calculate the number of the pixels which their gray values are similar to the central point of the mask. We found that for real corner, the number of its similar points is the minimum among its 8 neighborhoods. In view of this, we added a comparison function before the No Max Suppression step to exclude some disturbance points nearby the real corners. Hence the positioning accuracy is increased significantly. In order to compare the accuracy of the improved algorithm and harris algorithm, an evaluation standard is also proposed. The experimental results show that the detection time of the improved algorithm is only 31.2% that of the original harris algorithm, and also, the improvement on positioning accuracy of L-type, T-type and Arrow-type corners are realized.

In this paper, an improved harris algorithm for the target detection in dynamic scene due to the camera motion is presented. First, a sub-block thresholding method is proposed to solve the problem of uneven distribution of corners detected by harris algorithm. Then, the improved harris algorithm is used to extract feature points, which are used to estimate the parameters of global motion with the random-max consistency algorithm and the least-square method. Compensated by the result parameters, the reference image together with the current image arc used to detect the target with the frame difference method. Experiment results show that the algorithm can detect the moving target more accurately in dynamic scene.

Due to the invariance of scale, rotation and illumination, SIFT algorithm is commonly used in image matching. According to harris algorithm, two simplified methods of SIFT algorithm are developed to improve real-time efficiency and robustness of feature detection. In the stage of accurate keypoints localization, two improved methods are proposed to eliminate edge responses. One is the replacement of Hessian matrix by the local autocorrelation function of harris;the other is using the measure of corner response function of the Hessian matrix. The experimental results show that the improved methods can increase the performance of SIFT algorithm.

The harris corner detection algorithm is widely applied in image mosaic, which is simple and stable. However, the algorithm has a disadvantage that it obtains a lot of false corners when there exist some noise in an image. An improved harris corner detection algorithm is proposed in this paper. The new algorithm reduces the noise impact greatly. The experimental results show that the improved algorithm not only reduces false corner points greatly, but also retain the majority of true corners. As a result, it improves the detection accuracy and reduces the chance of error matching in image registration.

Comprehensive analysis of the tower in the image feature information with harris corner imprecise for complex image, we propose an improved algorithm, which use of the improved harris detection method to calculate the number of gray similar to the target pixel 8 field, analyze the gray level distribution of pixels within the local range, and then use the lag suppression method to set threshold, if corner is the objective function greater than the set threshold, the change point was identified as the final corner. The experimental results proved to be effective to determine the image of the tower area.

Largely for this reason that the threshold value of harris algorithms can only be set by experience, corner is difficult to be contrasted in areas of image contrast. A new adaptive algorithm is proposed in this paper. Firstly, image pixels are selected by Sudoku method. Secondly, image contrast can be confirmed in area of above-mentioned pixels by calculating local mean square error. Finally, the best matching pixels according to image contrast are received by using self-adaption threshold, and experimental results can demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed adaptive harris corner detection algorithm. © 2024 IEEE.

Traditional algorithm of harris needs to select a parameter for computing interest values of pixels, and its recognition ability for some types of corners is poor. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a corner detection method which is based on local standard deviation and logarithmic computing. The method decreases effecting to the response values of corners that near the candidate interested points through computing the logarithms of gradient, so it can detect different types of corner more effectively. It can redefine the interest value function according to the statistical features of the standard deviation to decide the corners. The function could avoid selecting value of parameters by person, and it could directly judge whether a candidate interested point is a corner, to make the algorithm has a higher objectivity. The experimental results show that the method can effectively detect the corners of various types, and it can achieve a more accurate effect of positioning.
