Cascading trips caused by flow transferring are crucial for lots of well-known blackouts. For a power system with heavy load flow, once there is a fault, the system might suffer flow transferring after the fault clearing. However, for relays, they cannot know the sensing overcurrent is caused by internal faults or flow transferring. The relays will trip the overcurrent after the predefined time delay, which might result in flow, transferring again and worsen the system state. Therefore, if relays pickup due to flow transferring, the back-up relay should be blocked until the thermal limit of the line reaches. In this paper, Flow Transferring Relativity Factor (FTRF) is suggested to estimate the flow distribution after a line is tripped. Moreover, based on the relationship of node injection and branch currents, the impact of transient period on the flow distribution is analyzed. Finally, a flow transferring identification algorithm is presented to distinguish flow transferring from internal fault caused by fault clearing. The simulation results of 10-generator 39-bus New England system show that the proposed flow transferring identification algorithm works well.

we demonstrate a new operation mode of thermal gas sensor based on thermal mass extraction with identification algorithm The system is a silicon microstructure covered with zeolites operated at constant temperature while stimulated by heat pseudo-random sequence. The proposed detection principle is demonstrated at room temperature and atmospheric pressure through the detection of gas water molecules with an hydrophilic FAU-type zeolite coating.

The Reheating furnace is the major energy consumption item of equipment on a rolling steel production line within a metallurgical enterprise. Creating an optimized control system for the reheating furnace by using industrial controlled technology to control the temperature of the furnace, is the main method to promote reheating efficiency and reduce energy consumption of the furnace. The radiation coefficient of the furnace chamber is an important parameter of a reheating furnace control system. The quality of the control system is influenced directly by the coefficient. However, because that that parameter is a time based variable and the exact value of it is difficult to measure, it is settled as a constant in existing control system. As a result, the temperature of the steel slab can not be maintained accurately and output quality of a slab from a reheating furnace can not be assured. In this article, the technological process for a metallurgical reheating furnace has been analyzed, and the temperature distribution model of a slab in a reheating furnace has been built up by using the heating transfer theory. Also, a real-time identification algorithm relating to the radiation coefficient of a furnace chamber in this model has been presented, and computer simulation for this model has been performed with satisfying result: the error between the computed temperature and the real temperature of a slab being output from a reheating furnace is less than 0.05 degree centigrade.

Real-time assessment of asphalt pavement moduli and traffic loads using monitoring data from Built-in Sensors: Optimal sensor placement and identification algorithm

Asphalt pavement performance is gradually attenuated subjected to repeated traffic loads. Grasping the relationship between the repeated traffic loads and pavement modulus attenuation is crucial for understanding pavement mechanical behavior, improving pavement design methods, and guiding maintenance decisions. However, the current bottleneck is that neither the existing non-destructive testing nor monitoring methods can simultaneously obtain the infor-mation of traffic loads and pavement moduli. To fill this gap, an innovative real-time assessment method of asphalt pavement moduli and traffic loads from the aspect of structural health monitoring was proposed. On the one hand, the optimal sensor placement was determined by the theoretical relationships between moduli, loads, and mechanical responses based on elastic multi -layered theory. On the other hand, the corresponding algorithm for stepwise decoupling identi-fication of asphalt pavement moduli and traffic loads to match the optimal sensor placement was developed. Therefrom, the validity of the proposed assessment method was theoretically verified, and the effects of the viscoelastic property of asphalt materials, measurement errors, and layer thickness on the identification accuracy were comprehensively discussed. The proposed assess-ment method was applied to the realistic pavement to further prove its applicability. Results show that the proposed assessment method can both evaluate pavement moduli and traffic loads accurately. The proposed assessment method has application prospects for simultaneous real-time monitoring of the pavement modulus attenuation and traffic loads, which helps understand the pavement damage behavior, improve pavement design methods, and guide maintenance decisions.

System identification, the process of deriving mathematical models from empirical data, plays a crucial role in control systems with significant applications across electrical, electronics, and telecommunications domains. While linear system identification is relatively straightforward, nonlinear systems present substantial challenges. This complexity is particularly evident in inverse modeling scenarios, where research remains nascent despite its growing importance. Our study focuses on developing a system identification method for Radio Frequency (RF) power amplifiers-critical components in communication systems that exhibit nonlinear behavior and generate adjacent channel interference. Recent advancements in inverse modeling encompass various approaches, including machine learning-based pre-inverse models, specialized neural network architectures, and optimization techniques. Each methodology presents distinct trade-offs in terms of model accuracy, robustness, and computational efficiency. The widespread occurrence of inverse systems across various applications underscores the significance of this research direction and its potential impact on improving communication system performance.

An efficient algorithm for identification of robot parameters including drive characteristics

A procedure for estimating the dynamic model parameters of an n degree-of-freedom (DOF) robot is presented. The characteristics of the drive dynamics are included in the modelling process. In this manner, the estimated dynamic model can facilitate the design of control laws for actual implementation. Due to a regrouping procedure, the estimation model for the model parameters is formulated in an upper block triangular form. This special structure can be exploited to obtain a computational efficient estimation algorithm for the model parameters. An integral form of the estimation algorithm is then developed to eliminate the need of using joint accelerations which tend to be noisy. The complete procedure does not require prior knowledge of the manipulator's geometric parameters. Furthermore the robot manipulator needs not follow some restrictive test trajectories. The experimental results obtained from a 4-DOF SCARA robot are presented to illustrate the practical application of the method.

In general practical applications, the point spread function (PSF) of the imaging system, the imaging process, and the observation noise, are unknown a priori information. Therefore, the identification of the PSF is a challenging and difficult problem in the world. The algorithm of identification of the PSF and the restoration of the blurred images based on the priori blur models (known as the PBM algorithm) is proposed. In practical application, the priori models of the PSF mainly consist of the linear motion blur, out of focus blur and the Gaussian blur. In the situation of that the degradation process is formed by the one of the above point spread functions, the PSF can be formulated in parametric model. The corresponding parameters of the model are determined by the algorithm proposed in this paper. Thus, the PSF is obtained according to the parameter of the model consequently. First, the parameter changing scope and the increment step length of the parameters are provided based on the original guess. Second, the criterion that the Euclid length of the difference between the observed image and blurred image corresponding to the PSF is minimized is incorporated in order to determine the parameter of the PSF. Therefore, the PSF is identified by the parametric model and the original image is estimated via the ordinary image restoration algorithms. In this paper, we applied the Wiener filter to restore the original images. The experimental results show that the identified result of the PSF is reliable and accurate and the restoration effect with the identified PSF is better when the observed image have high signal to noise ratio (SNR).

Aiming at the problems of parameter identification of Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG), which exists initial-value instability question and easy to get into the local optimization, a new identification method called Optimization Initial Value and Micro-Variation Search algorithm (OIVMSA) is proposed in this paper. Firstly, calculation the identification initial-value using input-output measurement data and constraint conditions determined by physical characteristics of DFIG, this initial-value is near by the object identification value. Secondly, hunting the global optimization from such initial-value by micro-variation step length, when the problem is defined using OIVMSA, it combines the advantage of rapidness and global optimization. Simulation results show that it is very effective. Such algorithm may be used to identify actual measurement parameter of DFIG, the concerned research work are done profoundly.
