While fluorescence microscopy has become an essential tool in biomedical sciences, many cell types cannot be readily accessed due to their location in hollow tissue tracts (GI mucosa cells) or deep within organ tissue. Standard endoscopes generally provide insufficient resolution for tissue characterizations and obtaining biopsy is long, costly and prone to errors. Even when samples are safely taken from the patient’s body, histology cannot provide functional and dynamic information during the endoscopic procedure. We present improvements to a novel endomicroscopy technique that may advance future prospects for the possibility of “optical biopsies”.

The test is made for image processing algorithms for robotic arms, but it is suitable for any type of imageprocessing software. imageprocessing software can use quite big amount of resources, so this way it can be tested which platform, which operating system or which programming language is the most suitable for usage. The imageprocessing task is a color detection task with some line and circle overlays for robotic arm's guidance. The implementations were tested base on code line numbers, code size on disk, binary file size on disk, used memory during execution and used CPU during execution.

Sandwich structures, in the modern aerospace industry, are more sought after due to their high strength to stiffness ratio resulting in significant weight gains. Optical techniques like time-average holography and shearography are preferred in industries for inspection of huge sandwich and composite panels because of whole-field (full coverage) inspection in a lesser time leading to large savings in cost. These techniques conventionally use sinusoidal frequency sweep to capture the local resonance of defective regions. This paper highlights the difficulties with the conventional approach of time-average digital holography (TADH) and proposes a novel defect identification strategy through square wave excitation. The proposed method enhances the speed and accuracy of inspection;thereby it saves cost and increases confidence level. Extensive experiments have been carried out using honeycomb sandwich panels to demonstrate the methodology. (C) 2017 Optical Society of America
