Hesitant fuzzy set (HFS) permits several possible values as the membership degree of an element to a set to express the decision makers' hesitance. Since its appearance, HFS has been extensively applied in multi-attribute decision making, group decision making and evaluation process. Considering that the similarity measure of hesitant fuzzy sets (HFSs) is an important index in intelligent system, and the implication function can describe many subtle differences which is very suitable for dealing with hesitant fuzzy information. In this paper, we merge implication function with HFS to investigate the similarity measure of HFSs, propose some new formulas to calculate the similarity measures of HFSs which are different from the existing similarity measures of HFSs based on the distance measure, and do some comparison analysis. Meanwhile, we introduce the union and intersection operations of HFSs, the hesitant fuzzy similar relation and the hesitant fuzzy equivalent relation, and develop the hesitant fuzzy clustering algorithm. Finally, three numerical examples are used to illustrate the effectiveness and validation of our proposed method.

Modus tollens with respect to uninorms: U-Modus Tollens

In fuzzy logic and approximate reasoning the inference rule given by the Modus Tollens usually derives into an inequality involving three logical operators: a conjunction, an implication function and a negation. Until now, in this scenario the conjunction has been commonly modeled by a t-norm, but recently the possibility of using a more general conjunction has been pointed out. In this work, we want to generalize the Modus Tollens inequality by using a conjunctive uninorm instead of a t-norm, leading to the so-called U-Modus Tollens. First, we give a study of this new property for implication functions in general and then we specially focus on residual implications derived from uninorms. In all cases, we prove that there are a lot of solutions of the U-Modus Tollens and we give a characterization of all the solutions in some particular cases. (c) 2020 The Authors. We introduce and discuss duality operators on the set of binary extended Boolean functions, i.e., on the set of binary operations on the real interval [0, 1] whose restrictions to Boolean inputs yield Boolean functions. These dualities have been divided into seven classes, and the majority of their properties depend on the class they belong to. We study composition of dualities, properties of dual classes, duality of properties of extended Boolean functions and invariantness of extended Boolean functions with respect to particular dualities. Our approach allows to transfer the results known for some studied class of extended Boolean functions into the results for the corresponding dual classes. As typical examples, one can recall the standard duality of the classes of all t-norms and t-conorms and the duality of implication functions and conjunctive (disjunctive) aggregation functions. The similarity measure of vague sets is an important index in intelligent systems. Based on the implication function, this paper investigates the similarity measure of vague sets (or elements) and proposes new formulas to calculate the similarity measure of vague sets (or elements). Unfolding of CPR3 Gets Initiated at the Active Site and Proceeds via Two Intermediates

Cyclophilin catalyzes the ubiquitous process "peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerization," which plays a key role in protein folding, regulation, and function. Here, we present a detailed characterization of the unfolding of yeast mitochondria' cyclophilin (CPR3) induced by urea. It is seen that CPR3 unfolding is reversible and proceeds via two intermediates, I1 and 12. The II state has native-like secondary structure and shows strong anilind-8-naphthalenesulphonate binding due to increased exposure of the solvent-accessible cluster of non-polar groups. Thus, it has some features of a molten globule. The 12 state is more unfolded, but it retains some residual secondary structure, and shows weak anilino-8-naphthalenesulphonate binding. Chemical shift perturbation analysis by H-1-N-15 heteronuclear single quantum coherence spectra reveals disruption of the tertiary contacts among the regions close to the active site in the first step of unfolding, i.e., the N-11 transition. Both of the intermediates, 11 and 12, showed a propensity to self-associate under stirring conditions, but their kinetic profiles are different;the native protein did not show any such tendency under the same conditions. All these observations could have significant implications for the function of the protein.

The soft set theory proposed by Molodtsov is regarded as an effective mathematical tool for dealing with uncertainties. This paper discusses the approximate reasoning based on the similarity measure for fuzzy soft set. The approximate reasoning methods based on the similarity measure for fuzzy soft modus ponens (FSMP) are investigated. The corresponding computational formulas for these methods are presented. Furthermore, the reductive properties and the monotonic properties of these methods are analyzed.

Measuring Trust in the Press in a Changing Media Environment

The only long term trend data on trust in the American press comes from the General Social Survey (GSS). The erosion of trust in the press as measured by the GSS indicator is indisputable, but its implications for the functioning of American democracy depend on what, precisely, is being measured. In this study we use an experimental design embedded in a representative national probability sample to shed light on what people are thinking of when they say they trust or distrust the American press. Are they thinking about the sources they themselves use for news? The sources that are most popular with the population at large? An average of all possible media sources? We find that individuals express much greater trust in the press when they are asked to consider specific news sources than when they are asked to evaluate a generic news media. Our results suggest that an accessibility bias combined with the proliferation of news sources in recent years may lead individuals to think of distrusted sources when asked to answer generic media trust questions. We therefore argue that different measurement strategies are needed to successfully address trust in the press in the current news environment.

A similarity-based approximate reasoning methodology that requires the construction of fuzzy relations was proposed by Raha etal. [26]. This paper investigates properties of four inferred conclusions calculated by Raha's similarity-based approximate reasoning method. The relationships among the four inferred conclusions are examined. The monotonicity and the approximation property for similarity-based approximate reasoning methods are defined. implication and aggregation functions play important complementary roles in the field of fuzzy logic. Both have been intensively investigated since the early 1980s, revealing a tight relationship between them. However, the main results regarding this relationship, published by Fodor and Demirli DeBaets in the 1990s, have been poorly disseminated and are nowadays somewhat obsolete due to the subsequent advances in the field. The present paper deals with the translation of the classical logical equivalence p -> q equivalent to -p boolean OR q, often called material implication, to the fuzzy framework, which establishes a one-to-one correspondence between implication functions and disjunctors (the class of aggregation functions that extend the Boolean disjunction to the unit interval). The construction of implication functions from disjunctors via negation functions, and vice versa, is reviewed, stressing the properties of disjunctors (respectively, implication functions) that ensure certain properties of implication functions (disjunctors).
