This paper proposes an emotional harmony composition system using a series of predefined rules and interactive genetic algorithm. Two kinds of rules are defined: One is harmony composition rules used for composing harmony and the other is harmony emotion rules which may indicate the mapping between harmonic elements and a specific emotion of either happiness or sadness. interactive genetic algorithm is applied to incorporate users' subjective perception in the generated harmony. Both subjective and objective experiments are conducted to prove the effectiveness of our approach.

Fostering creativity in User Interface (UI) design is challenging for innovation. This paper explores the combination of model-based approaches and interactive genetic algorithms to foster the exploration of the design space. A user task model is given in input. Magellan produces sketches of Ills that aim at inspiring the designer. Later on, appropriate tools may be used to tune the right design into the design right. In this paper, we propose a new method to transform colors in the image according to the user's emotion. First, we labeled the images into four basic emotions such as happy, sad, fear and anger from the users' evaluation. After that, we compute color histograms using 36 quantized HSV scheme. After that, we intersect color histograms and finally construct color templates for basic emotions. To reflect the user's preferences in color perception for specific emotion, we designed interactive genetic algorithm. First, we generate first stage individuals using color templates from the input image. From them, we extract chromosomes for HSV color space and then generate next stage individuals using crossover and mutation operations. After a few number of iterations, we stop the process and extract personalized color templates from the finalized image. Using personalized color templates, the user can generate an affection-based color transformed image according to his own preference. Survey results show that desirable results are obtained from our proposed personalized color templates.

Nowadays,recommender systems are widely implemented in E-commerce websites to assist customers in finding the items they need. A recommender system should also be able to provide users with useful information about the items that might interest them. The ability of promptly responding to changes in user's preference is a valuable asset for such systems. This paper presents an innovative recommender system for music data that combines two methodologies,the content-based filtering technique and the interactive genetic algorithm. The proposed system aims to effectively adapt and respond to immediate changes in users' preferences. The experiments conducted in an objective manner exhibit that our system is able to recommend items suitable with the subj ective favorite of each individual user.

We describe an intuitive computer graphics creation environment usable on tiny mobile devices. We adopted a 3D modeling method based on interactive genetic algorithm (iGA). It allows users to intuitively produce high quality graphics contents on site by evolving a set of 3D models. The proposed system enables the users to easily design 3D graphics contents by using a mobile device anywhere at any time without sacrificing visual quality. The computing power of the mobile devices is not enough for visualizing realistic 3D objects. We therefore employed client/server architecture for balancing computing loads between a server and a mobile client. The client plays a role for handling user interactions and 3D contents visualization whereas the server is responsible for all heavy computations such as 3D graphics modeling, rendering, and evolutionary processing by iGA. Providing good user interface is a crucial factor for mobile software design. We prototyped multiple GUI layouts and conducted a comparative experiment to figure out a good design approach for mobile 3D graphics system.

So as to create innovative car silhouettes, we propose in this paper a model based on an interactive genetic algorithm using an encoding of a design solution by a Fourier analysis approach. This model permits the designer to browse through generations of car profiles from an initial population of existing silhouettes. By qualitatively assessing each individual, the user converges towards solutions complying with his/her requirements and thus potentially creates novelty. We describe here tests for assessing the efficiency of this innovative design platform. These tests are based on a similarity matrix, a similarity measure being the perceived distance between two cars silhouettes. The results show a highly satisfactory behavior of the model and open perspectives thanks to its flexible and extensible aspects.

Traditional CAD (Computer-Aided Design) methods in garment pattern design (GPD) fail to utilize the knowledge of experts for inexperienced designers. Moreover. the interactive and co-evolutionary features are not supported. We propose an interactive co-evolutionary CAD system for GPD (ICE-GCAD), The functionality model, modular architecture and data flow of the system are proposed. Then, the interactive co-evolutionary system whose core module is an immune-inspired co-evolutionary algorithm is studied. Finally, the flow of co-design in the system is proposed. As a case demonstration, we Study a design sample of a leisure shirt. The experimental studies show that our approach has promising performance and appealing effects. A new semantic-based video scene retrieval method is proposed in this paper. Twelve low-level features extracted from a video clip are represented in a genetic chromosome and target videos that user has in mind are retrieved by the interactive genetic algorithm through the feedback iteration. In this procedure, high-level semantic relevance between retrieved videos is accumulated with so-called semantic relevance matrix and semantic frequency matrix for each iteration, and they are combined with an automatic feature weight update scheme to retrieve more target videos at the next iteration. Experiments over 300 movie scene clips extracted from latest well-known movies, showed an user satisfaction of 0.71 at the fourth iteration for eight queries such as "gloominess", "happiness", "quietness", "action", "conversation", "explosion", "war", and "car chase".
