Application of ecologically sustainable materials in urban landscape construction

As the demand for materials in urban landscapes increases, the changes in urban landscapes are becoming more and more intense. This paper studies the application of ecologically sustainable materials in urban landscape construction. Firstly, the theoretical basis of the application of ecologically sustainable materials in landscape is expounded. Then, the application of ecologically sustainable materials in urban landscape is visualised and analysed through interactive genetic algorithm, and compared with the application of disposable materials in urban landscape. The results show that the average landscape reconstruction resolution and visual reconstruction quality of the 15 sets of design drawings drawn based on ecologically sustainable materials were 93.2% and 90.5% respectively, which were higher than 87.1% and 87.1% based on disposable materials. Therefore, applying ecologically sustainable materials to urban landscape construction can not only improve aesthetics and reduce resource and financial consumption, but also promote sustainable development.

Cultural and creative products are empowered through cultural connotation in the market with ever-changing customer needs. Analyzing user preferences and matching them with product design elements has become the focus of research. Taking ceramic bracelet as the research example, this study proposed an evolutionary system which integrates the interactive genetic algorithm with artificial neural network and fuzzy analytic hierarchy process based on evaluation grid method. First, the cultural genes were extracted from cultural products as the design elements. Second, the attractiveness characteristics of the products and customer demand dimension information were analyzed by evaluation grid method. Third, the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process was used to assign weight values to the 3 users' perceptual evaluation vocabularies. Fourth, the artificial neural network algorithm was incorporated into the fitness evaluation stage of the interactive algorithm to reduce information distortion caused by evaluation fatigue. Finally, after training the samples using the back propagation neural network, 8 design schemes with a fitness value exceeding 4.5 were obtained. The iterative curve indicated that after the 51st generation, the error accuracy approached 0.09. The experimental results verified that the system could help to improve the efficiency of product design, and design products that are more in line with user needs.

Product customization in response to the widely varying perceptual expectations of different customers is an effective means to obtain customer satisfaction. Rapidly optimizing products to meet the personalized needs of different customers while controlling costs and improving design efficiency remains a challenge. In the present paper, a higher satisfaction product customization model was proposed with aim of efficiently reducing the number of target research customers and rapidly generating customer-oriented product design. In this model, a clustering algorithm based on emotional preference and migratory behavior (EPMC) was combined with a coupled model of interactive genetic algorithm with hesitancy-based interval individual fitness (IGA-HIIF) and Kansei Engineering (KE) method. This is the first implementation of EPMC in the customer research field, and the output content is optimized, which makes it capable of quickly dividing the multi-dimensional customer data space constructed in this study and accurately identifying different types of representative customers (RCs). And then, coupled the IGA-HIIF and KE model was adopted to establish a customer-oriented product evolution design system (PEDS). Finally, the most satisfactory products were auto-generated by PEDS with the participation of the RCs. The proposed method was applied to a case of social robot design. The result verifies that the approach could reduce the number of target research customers effectively without reducing diversity, allow direct customer involvement in the design process, and accurately extracts customers' personalized emotional implicit information and preference differences.

Nowadays, there are many new web sites occur daily on the Internet and the demand for web page creation and design increases. The problem is it takes time to create and design the web pages. Moreover, designing web page templates to satisfy user preference is difficult. In order to reduce time and allow users to interact with the design process, we propose the web application which applies interactive genetic algorithm to generate web page templates and allow users to get involved with the system. The proposed algorithm evolves HTML files for the content and CSS style sheets for a presentation format. Users can rate each section of a web page template according to their preferences. The given scores feed back to the system and the generated template is evolved. The experiments are conducted by assuming user's preferential criteria. We designed score-rules to test the algorithm whether it can create web page templates to satisfy the criteria or not. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can generate web page templates that meet the criteria.

A User-oriented Content Based Recommender System Based on Reclusive Methods and interactive genetic algorithm

Due to the unprecedented proliferation of textual contents such as blog articles, news, research papers and other things like movies, books and restaurants etc. on the web in recent years, the development of content-based recommender systems (CB-RSs) has become an important research area which aims to provide personalized suggestions about items to users while interacting with the large spaces on the web using items' contents and users' preferences. However, item representation and responds to changing user preferences are still major concerns. In our work, we have employed Reclusive Methods (RMs) to deal with the uncertainty associated with item representation and interactive genetic algorithm (IGA) is used to adapt the system with changing user preferences. First of all, a fuzzy theoretic approach to content based recommender system (FCB-RS) is designed to generate initial population for IGA using reclusive methods. Second, K-means algorithm is employed for clustering the items in order to handle the time complexity of IGA algorithm. Thereafter, a user-oriented content based recommender system (UCB-RS) is developed by incorporating IGA into FCB-RS through user evaluation. Experimental results show that the proposed system (UCB-RS) outperforms both the classical CB-RS and the FCB-RS.

An interactive Evolutionary Design Method for Mobile Product Customization and Validation of Its Application

Product customization is a means that effectively caters to personal needs, and as such, has increasingly caught the attention of both consumers and manufacturers. With technological advancements, the customization of products is now being made available through mobile applications. However, mobile apps need to be easy to use and operate, which presents some challenges for mobile app designers. In response, this study proposes an interactive evolutionary design method for mobile apps, based on an interactive genetic algorithm, to help consumers generate high-quality designs and enhance their retail experience by optimizing synthetic fitness and reducing the user's fatigue from evaluation. Firstly, a human-computer interaction model for mobile interactive evolutionary design was launched to solve the screen space problem and simplify the evaluation process. Secondly, to accelerate the convergence of the algorithm, this paper combines hesitation patterns to obtain accurate individual fitness. Thirdly, an ongoing prediction and replacement mechanism were presented to improve user experience. After addressing these items, the proposed method is applied to a customization system that involves traditional brocade patterns of the Zhuang ethnic group in southwestern China and validated using a conventional interactive evolutionary design system with an interactive genetic algorithm. The experimental results show that the proposed method increases the designs' efficiency, and can help consumers effectively customize their product purchases on mobile devices.

To optimize the colors used in cultural and creative products, this paper proposes a color matching design method that considers the color image and visual aesthetics. First, 99 color samples are identified based on Chinese traditional colors, and user preferences for 30 image semantic terms are measured by the semantic differential method. This leads to six color image factors being extracted by factor analysis. Second, quantitative analysis of the color visual aesthetics is applied, and formulas for calculating the harmony, balance, and symmetry are derived. On this basis, an interactive genetic algorithm is developed to promote and optimize the color scheme of cultural and creative products, and a fitness function based on subjective image evaluation and objective visual aesthetics is constructed. The subjective image evaluation adopts interval numbers, and a grayscale approach is used to measure the uncertainty of the subjective evaluation. Through grayscale analysis of the interval fitness values, information reflecting the evolutionary distribution of the population is extracted, before adaptive crossover and mutation probabilities are applied to the evolutionary individuals. Finally, the proposed method is verified through the example of color matching design for a speaker box. The results demonstrate that the proposed approach can effectively assist industrial designers.

Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) is a very popular form of entertainment among internet users nowadays. Users can listen to and watch ASMR content easily because they just need a headphone and a smart phone. Listening to ASMR sounds makes users relaxed and happy. Previous studies have demonstrated the relaxing effect of the sounds in the womb on the fetus. We believe that intrauterine sounds have a relaxation effect on adults as well. In this paper, we propose a ASMR sound generation system that simulates the intrauterine sound using interactive Evolutionary Computation (IEC). IEC is a method to search for media content that matches the user's preference. We downloaded eighteen ASMR sounds that the human body makes from the internet to simulate the sound in the womb. We presented the ASMR sounds to users by combining five of eighteen sounds using IEC. Two listening experiments were conducted. In experiment 1, the participants evaluated and scored every ASMR sound. In experiment 2, the participants evaluated and scored two ASMR sounds, which were the best individuals in the initial and final generations created in experiment 1. The evaluation values of both experiments have a trend of increasing.

Optimization of a low noise amplifier with two technology nodes using an interactive evolutionary approach

Nowadays, wireless communications at frequencies of gigahertz have an increasing demand due to the ever-increasing number of electronic devices that uses this type of communication. However, the design of Radio Frequency (RF) circuits is difficult, time-consuming and based on designer knowledge and experience. This work proposes an interactive evolutionary approach based on genetic algorithm, implemented in the in-house iMTGSPICE optimization tool, to perform the optimization process of a Low-Power Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) dedicated to Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), which is robust through the corner and Monte Carlo analyses and implemented in two Bulk CMOS technology nodes: 130 nm and 65 nm. Regarding each technology node, we performed two experimental studies to optimize the LNA. The first one used the conventional non-interactive approach of iMTGSPICE, which was not assisted by a designer during the optimization process. The second one used the interactive approach of iMTGSPICE, which was monitored and assisted by a beginner designer during the optimization process. The obtained results demonstrated that the interactive approach of iMTGSPICE performed the optimization process of the robust LNA from 16 to 94% faster than the non-interactive evolutionary approach. The design regarding the technology node of 130 nm took 341 min for the non-interactive and 20 min for the interactive optimization process, whereas the design in the 65 nm took 537 min for the non-interactive and 454 min for the interactive approach.

Abstract. In the face of numerous hearing loss patients around the world, wearing hearing aids is an effective means to improve the hearing of patients with severe hearing, but the traditional inefficient hearing aid fitting method limits the wide use of hearing aids. With the rise of Over The Counter (OTC) hearing aids, how to effectively improve the performance of OTC hearing aids has become the focus of research in recent years. To solve this problem, an interactive genetic algorithm (IGA) fitting algorithm based on a support vector machine (SVM) is proposed. The compensation values at different frequency points are taken as a set of parameter samples. IGA is used to form an interactive system, the fitness function is replaced by subjective five-level evaluation. The samples are classified and sorted according to the distance from the classification decision plane by using the user evaluation. The high-quality samples are replaced by the low-quality samples for genetic manipulation, and a new generation of voices is generated for the user to evaluate. The experimental results show that compared with the traditional IGA, the algorithm can improve the comprehensiveness and quality of the generated speech, reduce the number of user interactions significantly, and effectively reduce user evaluation fatigue.
