A study presented by the authors, examines the factors influencing the creation of effective interaction based on cooperation, in study groups of additional professional education and construction industry professionals. The authors identified factors that positively affect the efficiency of small study groups in the online environment. Particularly, there are certain learning strategies that promote the involvement of participants in projects that are implemented in small groups. Participation in these projects increases the sense of community, leads to the acquisition of useful skills and improves learning outcomes. (C) 2015 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd.

This paper studies the methodological essence of ADR regulations training courses for drivers and safety advisers. The aim of research is to advance existing teacher-centred course model in Estonia with learner-centred methods that best suit specific objectives and meet expected learning outcomes. In Estonia, ADR regulations training courses are formed based on teacher-centred course design mainly. This methodological approach is outdated as the concept of learner is changing rapidly. The aim of this research is to make study based proposals, what kind of interactive methodological approach training course model meets the best trainees' expectations in Estonia. The paper presents a combined development research strategy based on studies regarding ADR regulations training courses in Estonia as well as on analysis of teaching methods applied in professional training of adults. Data collecting on learners' attitude and preferences regarding current methodological format of courses is collected by implementing questionnaires with structured questions from consignors/consignees, freight forwarders carrier companies and drivers. Based on learners' needs and expectations, different interactive teaching methods are examined. Implementing methodology of qualitative comparison analysis (QCA) combination of best suitable teaching methods are identified. Theoretical outcomes represent detailed review of existing ADR training courses system, training opportunities and so far implemented methods. Empirical outcomes focus on introducing suitable interactive teaching methods within the existing format of ADR regulations training courses. Finally developed ADR training course model with a new learner-centred methodological approach considers all major parties involved into transportation chain of dangerous goods. Introduction of interactive teaching methods into the Disciplines of Forest Specialities: A Case of Petrozavodsk State University

At Petrozavodsk State University, within the academic process, an experiment with students was conducted involving higher interactivity of studying in a cycle of disciplines related to organization of forest exploitation. The following disciplines were taken as basis: “Design of timber industry enterprises”, “Forest harvesting operations technology”, “Technology of reforestation works”, “Forest care”, and for each of them, examples of organization of interactive methods of teaching the students in the direction of applied bachelor's degree “Technology of forest harvesting and timber-processing production”. In order to increase the quality of education and the efficiency of implementing the interactive teaching methods, three directions were selected: development of academic process organization plans, creation of conditions for giving classes, and elaboration of new approaches to teaching taking into account the analysis of results of the experiment. The analysis of results has demonstrated that if interactive teaching methods are implemented in the academic process, the students’ level of knowledge rises, skills and abilities for independent work are consolidated, the subject of work is better understood, and the interest for independent work, participation in conferences is manifested, as well as the abilities for generating new ideas and skills of defending them, and the process of self-determination within the profession selected are activated.

Selected Examples of interactive teaching methods in the Centre of Geoeducation in the City of Kielce (Poland)

The article presents the educational activity of the Centre of Geoeducation in the City of Kielce (Poland). The Centre was established in 2012 and thanks to a variety of provided services, it quickly gained a wide audience. By drawing inspiration from a very rich geological assets of the whole Świętokrzyskie Province, the Centre transmits geological, ecological and geographical knowledge, mainly with the use of many interactive teaching methods. The Centre's educational offer involves various activities, i.e. theoretical, practical and field classes. What is more, the Centre of Geoeducation acts as an initiator and coordinator of many cyclical or occasional events which promote geological assets of the Świętokrzyskie Province. The growing number of visits provides evidence for a wide interest of the Centre's activity – in 2013, there were up to 6.2% more visitors than in the previous year. It is worth mentioning that the Centre of Geoeducation is visited not only by organised groups, but also by individual visitors coming from the Province and the whole country, as well as from abroad.

Psychological studies have shown that the lecture method is one of the least effective means of communication and should be complemented by interactive teaching methods if students are to remember and understand what they are being taught. There are a wide variety of teaching methods available to human rights educators apart from the usual lecture method. The most successful teaching techniques, however, involve interactive exercises, especially those that rely on experiential learning by the participants. The writer has found that best way to teach human rights is to use the Street Law technique which draws on the experiences of the participants and relates their experiences to the national, regional and international human rights instruments available to protect them. This will not only assist them to remember the importance of the human rights taught, but will also enable them to understand their practical application.

Chinese universities have been strongly supported by government to promote English-Medium Instruction(EMI) in the past two decades. While EMI is not simply translating lecture contents into English, the teaching methods should be adjusted accordingly. This study aims at seeking effective EMI teaching methods for engineering courses, taking the case of Computer Networking course in Shanghai Maritime University. Several computer-aided teaching methods have been practised, including interactive teaching with Rain Classroom, class demonstration with Wireshark and Packet Tracer, video review, online teaching resources, and hands-on projects. Based on our teaching experience, a 3-step interactive teaching routine was set up and practiced. The comparing result of three consecutive years' final exam scores and labs scores show an overall improvement of the students' learning outcomes. An online questionnaire was designed to investigate the students' opinions on teaching contents and methods. The collected survey results and feedbacks show that most of the students approve of our EMI teaching methods. But there are up to 27.5% students who still consider EMI academic course is difficult. The cross comparative result of the online students' survey reveals that the students' previous EMI experience greatly affects their perceived level of difficulty. It should be very helpful to offer an introductory EMI course or an ESP(English for Special Purpose) course for the engineering freshmen to prepare them for the follow-up EMI academic courses.

1 ABSTRACT The current chemistry education solves problems related primarily to the setting of the curriculum contents, which would be professionally correct, appropriately extensive, and at the same time connected with current aspects of life in modern society, and to problems of teaching strategies that would stimulate the students into an interest in science and commitment to it. The main goal of this dissertation is to create an educational website with an interactive chemistry course for lower secondary schools (ISCED 2) and verify its effectiveness in school practice. The first part of the dissertation describes methods of interactive chemistry teaching supporting the increase of the students cognitive activity and the effectiveness of the learning process using ICT. The second part characterizes the chemistry course thus created and lists various ways to apply interactive teaching in it. Our interactive course contains a total of 14 thematic units, each with 2-6 subthemes. All themes are processed with respect to the practical application of the subject matter using the listed interactive education methods. The state program of the Russian Federation “Development of Education” for 2013-2020 provides for content upgrade of the vocational education and enhancement of its quality. In connection to this, the paper considers the provisions of competency-based approach the content side of which lies in consolidating its practical constituent in the process of vocational training of students. The paper describes the process of teachers and students’ interaction as a result of which knowledge, abilities and skills are transferred and adopted that promote quality and production activity of students as future professionals. Special attention is paid to the content of education correlated with definite professional competencies provided for by the educational standards. Forming of key competencies in students encouraged the leading teachers to start searching for efficient teaching methods allowing to establish active joint interaction, communication and self-fulfillment of learners.

Effective learning process occurred when both teachers and students interact and participate in the learning activities. Participatory type of learning process will encourage mutual exchange of information's; stimulate interest as well as recognition of respect among the teachers and students. This paper discusses the level of involvement and forms of involvement in three classrooms over a period of five (5) weeks contact hours. The observation was done on two undergraduate classrooms and one postgraduate classroom. The aim of observation is to identify the category of students in terms of active or passive involvement and the types of participation.
