This paper studies reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) empowered symbiotic radio over broadcasting signals, i.e., a base station (BS) broadcasts to multiple primary receivers (PRs) under the assistance of a RIS, while the RIS also transmits information to an Internet-of-Things receiver (IR) by modulating the incident broadcasting signals. We formulate a problem to minimize the BS's transmit power by jointly optimizing the BS's active beamforming and the RIS's phase shifts (i.e., passive beamforming), under the signal-to-noise-ratio constraints of the primary and IoT transmission as well as the RIS's phase-shift constraints. However, the problem is challenging to be solved optimally, since the optimization variables are coupled and the constraints are non-convex. An efficient iterative algorithm based on the block coordinated descent and modified semidefinite relaxation techniques is proposed to solve this problem for both discrete and continuous phase shift scenarios. The convergency of the algorithm is proved and the complexity of the algorithm is analyzed. Numerical results validate that the proposed system outperforms the benchmark of traditional broadcasting system without RIS.

To solve the 'soft-field' nature and the ill-posed problem in electrical capacitance tomography (ECT)technology, a novel preconditioned conjugate gradient algorithm for electrical capacitance tomography is presented. The analysis of the basic principles of electrical capacitance tomography, based on the given preconditioned conjugate gradient method and calculation formula of the iteration steps of the ECT and to explore the feasibility of application of the algorithm, the algorithm to meet the convergence conditions and the reconstruction image error. Experimental results and simulation data indicate that the algorithm can provide high quality images and favorable stabilization compared with LBP, conjugate gradient algorithms in simple flow pattern and this new algorithm presents a feasible and effective way to research on image reconstruction algorithm for Electrical Capacitance Tomography System.

For research of the medium response with hierarchic structure we had developed an iterative algorithm for electromagnetic and seismic fields in the problem setting similar to analyzed higher for layered-block models with homogeneous inclusions. It is difficult to know the details of material distribution in a fluidised bed. Electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) technology has been developed for imaging industrial processes containing dielectric materials. This paper discusses the principles of ECT and presents the first experimental results of using ECT to measure gas/solids distribution in square circulating fluidised beds (CFB). A wide range of fluidisation conditions was tested, from bubbling to circulating fluidisation. It has been shown that over the range, ECT can provide solids concentration and voids distribution instantaneously. Different fluidisation regimes could also be identified from the reconstructed images.

This paper addresses the problem of matching two images with unknown epipolar geometry. A new and efficient iterative algorithm is proposed, which is a part of the author's project on developing a robust image matching technique. The author defines a new measure of matching support, which allows less contribution and higher tolerance of deformation with respect to affine transformations from distant matches than from nearby ones. A new strategy for updating matches is developed, which only selects those matches having both high matching support and low matching ambiguity. The update strategy is different from the classical ""winner-take-all"", which evolves too soon and is easily stuck at a local minimum, and also from ""loser-take-nothing"", which is usually very slow. The proposed algorithm has been tested with two dozen image pairs of very different types of scenes, and very good results have been obtained. It works remarkably well in a scene with many repetitive patterns.

Feature point matching is a key step of image registration, object recognition and many other computer vision applications. By using the proposed structural distance between feature point sets as the matching similarity, we are able to match the spatial structures of feature points in different images. In the optimization process of the structural distance, both local and global relationship are considered, which greatly improves the robustness and accuracy. We also present a fast algorithm with higher efficiency, which approximately realizes this method by linear matrix multiplication operations. The proposed method achieve promising matching results in the experiments.
