A new general iterative algorithm with Meir-Keeler contractions for variational inequality problems in q-uniformly smooth Banach spaces

In this paper, we generalize the iterative scheme and extend the space studied in (Fixed Point Theory and Applications 2012: 46, 2012). Further, we prove some strong convergence theorems of the new iterative scheme for variational inequality problems in q-uniformly smooth Banach spaces under very mild conditions. Our results improve and extend corresponding ones announced by many others.

There are many important fields nowadays which involve multilinear system identification. In this context, the number of parameters of the global impulse response to be identified can represent an important challenge, leading to the need for tensorial decomposition and modelling of such systems. We recently focused on the identification of particular types of multidimensional problems, such as bilinear and trilinear forms. In this paper, our purpose is to extend the solutions obtained for such particular cases to the general case of higher-order multilinear systems. To this aim, we propose an iterative Wiener filter tailored for the identification of multilinear forms of any order. Simulations support the theoretical findings and prove the good performance of the proposed solution.

With the fast development of mobile technologies, mobile marketing has become an import task for telecom operators. As a result, customer classification has attracted the attention of many scholars and companies. Decision tree is a computational intelligence technique having been widely used in the field of machine learning and data mining. To solve the customer classification problem, we propose an iterative decision tree-based (ITDT) approach. Through the communication data provided by one of the largest telecom operators in China, we aim to identify student customers from non-student ones. We first build the customers' social network through their phone call and SMS records. Then we make statistical analysis on the network, which helps us to determine the network-based features used for customer classification. Last, we propose an iterative decision tree-based algorithm to identify the student customers. We conduct experiments under different algorithm parameters and the results show the effectiveness of our algorithm.

The Young/Daly formula for periodic checkpointing is known to hold for a divisible load application where one can checkpoint at any time-step. In an nutshell, the optimal period is P-YD = root 2 mu C-f where mu(f) is the Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and C is the checkpoint time. This paper assesses the accuracy of the formula for applications decomposed into computational iterations where: (i) the duration of an iteration is stochastic, i.e., obeys a probability distribution law D of mean mu(D);and (ii) one can checkpoint only at the end of an iteration. We first consider static strategies where checkpoints are taken after a given number of iterations k and provide a closed-form, asymptotically optimal, formula for k, valid for any distribution D. We then show that using the Young/Daly formula to compute k (as k . mu(D) = P-YD) is a first order approximation of this formula. We also consider dynamic strategies where one decides to checkpoint at the end of an iteration only if the total amount of work since the last checkpoint exceeds a threshold W-th, and otherwise proceed to the next iteration. Similarly, we provide a closed-form formula for this threshold and show that P-YD is a first-order approximation of W-th. Finally, we provide an extensive set of simulations where D is either Uniform, Gamma or truncated Normal, which shows the global accuracy of the Young/Daly formula, even when the distribution D had a large standard deviation (and when one cannot use a first-order approximation). Hence we establish that the relevance of the formula goes well beyond its original framework.

In this paper, we propose a novel distance metric based on correntropy and kernel learning. Some properties of the proposed metric are demonstrated such as nonnegativity, non-convexity, boundedness and approximation behaviors. The proposed metric includes and extends classical metrics such as L-0-norm and L-1-norm metrics. Moreover, we develop a fraction loss function satisfying the Bayes rule, and demonstrate its robustness from the perspective of M-estimation. With the proposed robust metric and loss function, a new robust twin extreme learning machines framework (called LCFTELM) is presented to reduce the negative effect of noises and outliers. The proposed LCFTELM retains the advantages of twin extreme machines (TELM) and promotes the robustness. However, the non-convexity of the proposed model makes it difficult to optimize. Furthermore, an effective iterative algorithm for LCFTELM is designed, we present theoretical analysis on the convergence of the proposed algorithm. Following that, we evaluate the proposed algorithm on real-world datasets and artificial dataset under different noise settings. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves better generalization than the state-of-the-art methods in most cases, which demonstrates the feasibility and robustness of the proposed LCFTELM. In this paper, a five parameter extraction method for a single diode model of photovoltaic panels is proposed. The method is based on an iterative algorithm and able to estimate the electrical parameters from the panel's datasheet information. Three steps are used to extract the five single diode model parameters. In the first step, we estimate analytically the ideality factor using the different information from the panel's datasheet. In the second step, we formulate three analytical equations that permit us to find the parallel resistance, the saturation current and the photo-current as function of the series resistance and the ideality factors. The third step allows us to determine the optimal value of the series resistance using an iterative procedure that minimizes the error between the theoretical and the experimental maximum power values. The proposed method is applied to the polycrystalline silicon photovoltaic KC200GT solar module under standard test conditions (STC) and under different irradiations and temperatures. The results show a good agreement between the simulated data and the experimental measure extracted from datasheet.

The southwell model algorithm based on the least squares method is suitable for a variety of wavefront reconstruction and three-dimensional shape detection through slope fitting. Due to the assumption that the height is linearly related to the gradient in the southwell model, the detailed infoimation of the surface shape needs to be gradually improved by the iterative algorithm. In this paper, we add an attenuation factor in the foul' of a power function controlled by exponential and iterative times to increase the height compensation amount in the early iteration and control the excessive noise data to participate in the iteration, which leads to the deviation of the fitted surface shape from the actual surface shape. Through simulation comparison experiments, the new algorithm has faster iteration rate and higher accuracy than traditional iterative algorithms.

We propose a gradient based iterative algorithm with multiple iterative factors (MGI) to find the solutions of the Sylvester discrete-time periodic matrix equations A(j)X(j) + Xj+1Bj = C-j(j = 1,2, ... , T). It is proved that the exact solution of the periodic matrix equations can be converged by the MGI method for any initial matrices. Then, we study the optimal convergence rate of gradient based iterative algorithm with single iterative factor (SGI). Nextly, we compare the convergence rate of the two algorithms, and find that MGI is faster than SGI when the appropriate convergence factors mu(j) are selected. Finally, a numerical example is given to verify that MGI is superior to SGI in both speed and iterative steps.

Engine control system is currently changing from centralized approach to distributed approach, using digital bus communications instead of point-to-point analog communications. Distributed sensors and actuators in the system will introduce network induced multiple delays and data packet dropout. However, much of research is concerned about the stability of the system lacking the focus on the performance of the system. In this paper, a design method of guaranteed cost controller is proposed for the problem of multi-packet transmission delay and packet dropout in the distributed engine control system. First, a system model of distributed control system with multiple delay and packet dropout is established. Then, a guaranteed cost controller design theorem in the form of bilinear matrix inequalities is given base on Lyapunov-Krasovskii theorem, and solved by a cone-compensation linearization (CCL) method. Finally, simulation verification is performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the guaranteed cost controller designed. According to the method, the cost bound is calculated and the corresponding controller can ensure system's dynamic performance under different multi-delay and packet losses.

This paper studies reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) empowered symbiotic radio over broadcasting signals, i.e., a base station (BS) broadcasts to multiple primary receivers (PRs) under the assistance of a RIS, while the RIS also transmits information to an Internet-of-Things receiver (IR) by modulating the incident broadcasting signals. We formulate a problem to minimize the BS's transmit power by jointly optimizing the BS's active beamforming and the RIS's phase shifts (i.e., passive beamforming), under the signal-to-noise-ratio constraints of the primary and IoT transmission as well as the RIS's phase-shift constraints. However, the problem is challenging to be solved optimally, since the optimization variables are coupled and the constraints are non-convex. An efficient iterative algorithm based on the block coordinated descent and modified semidefinite relaxation techniques is proposed to solve this problem for both discrete and continuous phase shift scenarios. The convergency of the algorithm is proved and the complexity of the algorithm is analyzed. Numerical results validate that the proposed system outperforms the benchmark of traditional broadcasting system without RIS.
