Based on the dynamic wave routing algorithm of SWMM model, this paper simulated the residential area drainage system. Then combining with the status reports, such as link summary, node summary, time series plot and the link profile plot, the drainage system of residential area is studied. And the drainage capacity of drainage system, the status of surcharging node and surcharging conduit under heavy rain situation are given. In accordance with the requirements of criterion, this paper used the method of iterative algorithm to improve the drainage system, and finally built the drainage system which meets 2 year storm.

In MIMO space division multiplexing (SDM) systems, the peak power of the transmit signal at each antenna element is increased by the precoder and hence it causes the power efficiency degradation and/or nonlinear distortion at the power amplifier. To solve this problem, this paper present a peak power aware precoding scheme for MIMO-SDM systems, where the precoder is designed to mitigate the peak output power at each antenna element so that peak amplitude of the transmit signal at each antenna is reduced while minimizing the performance degradation caused by the peak power restriction. The proposed system employs an alternative iterative optimization algorithm that determines the precoding matrix so that the precoding and virtual post-coding matrices are alternatively optimized under the constraint of peak output at each antenna element. Simulation results show that the proposed method is effective in restricting the peak transmission power at each antenna within a permissible level while mitigating performance degradation in bit error rate (BER) performance of the precoded SDM systems.

We present a novel iterative algorithm for approximating the linear least squares solution with low complexity. After a motivation of the algorithm we discuss the algorithm's properties including its complexity, and we present theoretical results as well as simulation based performance results. We describe the analysis of its convergence behavior and show that in the noise free case the algorithm converges to the least squares solution.

Directional statistics deal with direction, such as angles and phases. A well-known distribution in directional statistics is von Mises-Fisher (vMF) distribution, which is Gaussian distribution on a unit hypersphere. For a vMF mixture model, a maximum likelihood estimator and a variational Bayes estimator have already been derived. However, an iterative algorithm for finding the maximum likelihood estimator may accumulate approximation error. Besides, the variational Bayes estimator cannot estimate some parameters. This paper derives an estimator of the parameters in the vMF mixture model via the Gaussian distribution to solve these problems. We focus on the fact that the vMF distribution is derived from the Gaussian distribution. At first, we apply the estimation for the Gaussian mixture model to observed samples. Then, we convert the estimated Gaussian mixture distribution to a vMF mixture distribution. Experimental results support the analysis.

Based on a 979-actuator adaptive optics system, this paper analyzes the different performance of iterative wavefront reconstruction algorithms. Under the condition of dynamic wavefront errors, the iteration number, storage space and the number of multiplication of steepest descent method, conjugate gradient method and G-S iterative method are studied. The steepest descent method and conjugate gradient method need smaller storage space. Both the G-S iterative method and the conjugate gradient method converge faster than steepest descent method, while the latter takes the least number of multiplication. Finally, the optimal iterative algorithm is selected considering storage space, iteration numbers and the number of multiplication.

Mathematical morphology is widely used in image processing. Since all morphological operations are based on evaluating values contained in a local neighborhood, calculations on large neighborhood are particularly computationally intensive. Fast implementations for morphological operations do exist but are mostly only adapted to structuring elements of a limited size and/or a specific shape. Therefore, difficulties appear when an arbitrary or complex shape like a circle of a large size is needed. Since dilation and erosion can be used for the representation of all morphological operations, an efficient implementation of those operators is fundamental. Thus, this paper presents a new efficient algorithm for these basic operators of mathematical morphology. It enables the use of any shape of flat structuring element for grayscale images up to 3 dimensions. Also, we have defined this method as an iterative algorithm so it can be used on any parallel architecture and in particular, for GPU (Graphic Processor Unit) computing.

Detecting fish in submarine environment is a challenge due to the properties of the water such as light absorption and scattering. In this work, we present a method for preprocessing images in submarine environment. In the first step, we model the underwater environment as overlapp of two processes. The first process is considered as a Poisson distribution, while the second one is considered as a Gaussian mixture. The resulting distribution is called Poisson-Gaussian mixture (PGM). To estimate the noise parameters, we propose an iterative algorithm based on the expectation maximization approach. This allows us to jointly estimate the scale of the Poisson parameter as well as the standard deviation and the mean of all Gaussian distributions. In order to facilitate the detection of objects, to correct the illumination problem of the scene and to restore the colors, we integrate a color correction algorithm. Finally, detection and localization of fish complete the pre-processing in the images. To obtain medium or small regions, the mean shift algorithm is used with a reduced threshold. In the segmentation process, the proposed detector scan the image region by region. This detector allows to estimate statistically the type of the region (object or non-object). The method is tested under different underwater conditions. Experimental results show that the proposed approach outperforms conventional methods.

In this paper, we consider the control of large-scale processes with both input and state couplings. A distributed model predictive control (MPC) strategy for tracking based on the reference trajectories is presented. The proposed distributed MPC strategy requires decomposing a large-scale system into several smaller ones and solving convex optimization problems independently. Distributed MPC tracking strategies for unconstrained and constrained processes are presented, respectively. An iterative algorithm is presented to coordinate the distributed MPC controllers. The proposed algorithm is applied to a four-tank process to demonstrate the effectiveness.

This paper considers reset control systems with output uncertainties. We present sufficient conditions for the quadratic stability and finite L-2 gain stability. Then, the results are extended to piecewise quadratic stability which is much less conservative. Moreover, an iterative algorithm is proposed to design the reset controller. All the obtained results are given as linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) that can be solved effectively. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the results.

Singular value decomposition (SVD) plays an important role in signal processing for multi-input multi-output (MIMO) communication systems. Under massive MIMO scenarios, as the channel matrix is very large, implementing SVD at every frame is highly inefficient. Existing literature on iterative SVD algorithms are mostly heuristic based, and the associated tracking performance under time-varying channels is not clear. The difficulties of deriving and analyzing SVD algorithms are due to the non-convexity of the associated optimization problem and the time-varying nature of the MIMO channel. In this paper, we formulate the problem on Grassmann manifolds and derive a multi-stream iterative SVD algorithm using optimization techniques. To enhance the tracking performance under timevarying channels, we propose a compensation algorithm to offset the motion of the time-varying target eigenspace. We analyze the convergence behavior of the proposed algorithm, where we show that under some mild conditions, the proposed iterative SVD algorithm with compensations has zero tracking error, despite the underlying problem being non-convex and the channel being time-varying. The complexity of the algorithm is only O(n(2)p) for estimating p singular vectors, compared with O(n(3)) for the SVD of a n x n channel matrix.
