With the rapid development of computer technology, various programming languages continue to improve and innovate, and the scopes of their daily applications are also expanding. java occupies a unique corner in computer software development due to its orientation, independence, directness, and other advantages, and it is a programming language necessary for many computer applications. This paper further analyzes the programming advantages that java occupies in software development through a brief introduction to the basic definition and characteristics of the java programming language. Besides, through the mainstream application of the main technology of java programming, this paper further analyzes and summarizes the java programming language. We hope that the research on java programming characteristics and technical analysis can provide references for related parties.

This paper discusses a strategy for developing shared teaching resources to support java programming subjects taught using a variety of educational approaches (lectures and tutorials, problem-based learning, distance education) with differing computing focii (computer science, commercial computing, network computing).The strategy is a group process involving six distinct stages: selecting the topic areas considered integral to all subjects for which the resources will be used; defining the details and identifying areas / concepts of a topic; determining basic, intermediate and advanced levels of information; determining appropriate educational techniques that support the desired learning objectives for the concept; investigating existing resources and building new resources, both with and without the use of computer technology.

Determining input impedance, assigning reflection coefficient, and matching load impedance are important transmission line problems those involve complex calculation steps because of complex connection architectures in transmission lines. Efficient understanding of such problems in undergraduate and graduate courses should be supported by rich visualization tools. The Smith chart is a convenient tool for transmission line calculations especially for wave propagation and maximum power theory that discusses impedance matching problems. In this context, we can say that java is a widely used open source educational tool having strong computational environment for research and development aims. In this study, an open source transmission line impedance matching educational framework (TLIME) has been designed to teach efficiently wave propagation and maximum power theory that discusses the impedance matching problems. The success of developed educational framework has been measured by a questionnaire held in courses in the third and fourth years of the electrical and electronics engineering undergraduate program at Sakarya University of Applied Sciences, Turkey. The visual preparation of the problem solutions with rich graphical user interface and simulations of the mathematical representations has been evaluated to contribute to a better understanding of the wave propagation and impedance matching transmission line subjects. The functionality and simplicity of the developed framework scored by over 82% among course enrolled students. The rest of the paper is organized as follows. Section 2 explains transmission line impedance matching problem in the context of maximum power theory. Section 3 discusses transmission line planning and problem solving with Smith chart. Section 4 discusses explanation and usage of developed TLIME framework and last section discusses results.

Development of a multi-vendor software to size and select TEC

The task of finding suitable commercial thermoelectric coolers (TECs) and determining their configurations in the cooling system designs can be a difficult and cumbersome iterative process due to the varieties of product ranges available from different vendors. This paper presents the development of a computer-aided tool, which is interactive and platform-independent, to assist the designers in the search for appropriate TECs from different manufacturers. Based on the user design specifications, the software can estimate the required heat load, determine the TEC requirements, search for appropriate TECs from various vendors, and analyze the thermal performances of the cooling system designs using different selected TECs. The web has grown tremendously over the past decade - with applications in education, marketing, financial services, and supply chain management. Web technology also has a significant impact on computer simulation. Most of the effort in web-based simulation is aimed at modeling, particularly at building simulation languages and at creating model libraries that can be assembled and executed over the web. This paper focuses on efficiency of simulation experimentation for optimization. We introduce a framework for combining the statistical efficiency of simulation optimization techniques with the effectiveness of parallel execution algorithms. In particular, a novel simulation sampling procedure, the Optimal Computing Budget Allocation (OCBA) algorithm, is implemented in a web-based environment for low-cost parallel and distributed simulation experimentation. A prototype implementation with some experimental results is presented to show the viability of web-enabled simulation environments. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Experiences with online programming examinations

An online programming examination was used to assess undergraduates who had learned java for two terms. The advantages are that the students are assessed on what they have to do in practice, rather than on their theoretical knowledge, and that the marking load on the examiner is drastically reduced. The style of question used and the results of the examination are analyzed.

Detecting and monitoring plumes caused by major industrial accidents with PLUME, a new software tool for low-resolution image analysis

A new software tool for the automatic detection and monitoring of plumes caused by major industrial accidents is described. This tool has been designed in order to use, near real time information as provided by satellite images, perform sophisticated image analysis and elaborate a user-friendly operational environment for the detection of plumes caused by major industrial accidents. The methodology, based on NOAA/AVHRR (Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer) imagery, uses a two-dimensional feature space in order to discriminate pixels that contain plumes from those that correspond to clouds or to the underlying surface. The two-dimensional feature space is generated by combining AVHRR channels 1(visible), 2 (near infrared) and 5 (thermal infrared). The software tool proposed has been coded in java2 language, using the concepts of interoperability and object-oriented programming. This study demonstrates the applicability of the tool for the detection of a plume caused by a massive explosion in a firework factory in Enschede, The Netherlands, on May 13, 2000. The effectiveness and reliability of the software tool was found to be satisfactory, as plume was automatically detected and discriminated from the underlying surface. (C) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. java is evolving into a full-scale system development technology by the addition of functions such as Applets, object-oriented programming, cross-platform support, internationalization, javaBeans, Remote Method Invocation (RMI), java Database Connectivity (JDBC), Enterprise javaBeans (EJB), java Plug-in, HotSpot Client Virtual Machine (VM), java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI), RMI/Internet Inter-ORB Protocol (IIOP), eXtensible Mark-up Language (XML) support, and java Secure Socket Extension (JSSE). These functions have been added in three specifications: java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE);java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE);and java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME). Also, the manner in which these specifications are decided has shifted from decisions made by Sun Microsystems to decisions made by an open community through a process called the java Community Process (JCP). The main key-phrase of the latest trend in java/EJB is "Ease of Development," and J2SE 1.5 (code name "Tiger") will play a central role in this trend. Prospective enhancements in the java programming language specifications such as Generics, Enhanced for Loop, Autoboxing/Unboxing, Typesafe Enums, Varargs, Static Import, and Metadata are expected to simplify system development, learning, and mastering. With these new technologies, java will be used by a wider range of developers and EJB-based development of enterprise systems will become more popular.
