The most commonly used methods of target tracking in the linear system is leastsquare Filtering, Kalman filtering and Interacting Multiple Model(IMlVI). In this article, we use least square algorithm and the Interacting Multiple Model (IMM) to study the tracking of non-maneuvering target and maneuvering target. Then compare to several algorithms, and deduces the advantage and disadvantage of each algorithm.

In order to solve the problem of the detection of the leak location in the gas pipeline, a partial differential equation (PDE) reversed question mathematical model was founded on the condition of only one leakage location existing. And then, the orthogonal transformation was taken to get the relationship between the leakage and its location. With the least square algorithm, the inconsistent equation set was solved to find out the location of leakage. The above process is realized with MATLAB.
