This report addresses the problem of daily net revenue maximization in a fruit wholesale company. For this purpose, a linear programming model has been formulated whose objective function is the maximization of the net daily revenue of the company, which considers certain restrictions required by the business owner, such as an average size of the jabs of the fruits sold, storage capacity, prices of the different suppliers, among others. The calculation of the optimal solution of the model was carried out using computer programs such as LINGO, in addition to a comparison with the SOLVER function of Microsoft Excel. Subsequently, a sensitivity analysis of the model created is performed to evaluate the impact of variations in the restrictions within the objective function. Finally, the maximum daily net income that the company can achieve under the established conditions is determined, in addition to decision-making, together with a sales plan, supported by the results of the proposed model. The results of this study provide a strategic tool for maximizing revenue in operationally constrained business environments, demonstrating the potential of linearprogramming to optimize decision-making in wholesale companies.

This paper describes a new analytical model designed to explore the consequences of acid rain control strategies for coal-fired power plants in the 31 eastern United States. It employs a linearprogramming technique using newly developed models of coal transportation costs, minemouth coal prices, and power plant FGD costs to determine an optimum (least cost) strategy to achieve specified reductions in sulfur dioxide emissions, as proposed in several recent Congressional bills. Emissions trading among specified groups of states also can be treated in the model’s optimization framework. Results are presented for scenarios in which 1995 SO2emissions from coal-fired power plants in the 31-state region are constrained to levels that are 8, 10 and 12 million tons per year (MMtpy) below 1980 emissions. An extensive set of sensitivity analyses (95 cases) is used to explore the effects on FGD retrofit capacity, regional coal demand, and overall abatement cost of alternative assumptions regarding the future costs of coal, transportation, pollution control equipment and regulatory requirements. Cases involving a 10 MMtpy reduction were found to exhibit the greatest sensitivity to tradeoffs between coal switching and the retrofitting of FGD equipment.

The possibility of identifying the sources of terrigenous rocks based on geochemical data using a linear programming model is considered by the example of metasedimentary rocks of the Sakukan Formation of the Kemen Group of the Udokan Complex, Aldan Shield. It is shown that tonalite-trondhjemite gneisses (56.9%) and leucocratic granite-gneisses (17.3%) of the Olekma complex, Paleoproterozoic granitoids of the Kuanda Complex (7.6%) of the Chara-Olekma geoblock, metavolcanic rocks of the Fedorov Group (15.4%) and gneiss-granites (1.8%) of the West Aldan megablock developed within it could be the sources of metasandstones of the Sakukan Formation. The results obtained are in good agreement with the Nd isotopic and geochronological data available for the metasandstones of the Sakukan Formation, which indicates the wide possibilities of identifying and searching for sources of terrigenous deposits using a linear programming model.

This paper considers the control wafers downgrading problem (CWDP) in the wafer fabrication photolithography area. The objective of the research is to minimize the total cost of control wafers, while maintaining the same level of production throughput. For the problem under a pulling control production environment, a linear programming model is presented to set the supply rate of new control wafers and the recycle and downgrading rates so as to minimize the total cost of control wafers. A numerical example is given to illustrate the practicality of the model. The sensitivity of the linear programming model solution to changes in the underlying parameter values is also investigated. The results demonstrate that the proposed model is an effective tool for determining the control wafers downgrading policy. This paper presents a linear programming model that considers the cost of new control wafers, recycle and downgrading control wafers in wafer fabrication. The proposed model improved the performance of control wafers management, and served as the basis for setting the usage rates of control wafers.

This paper presents a method for the improvement of economic performance of biofuel supply chain. A mathematical model is proposed for optimal planning of biofuel supply chain in order to minimize the total operational costs. The model is linear and takes into consideration the availability of feedstock and biorefineries and determines the optimal schedule for harvesting and transportation of biomass feedstocks, biodiesel production and distribution over the planning horizon. With the development of the economy, the demands for food quality have gradually increased. Cold chain as a temperature-controlled supply chain has emerged to ensure the fresh goods. In recent years, the establishment and improvement of the cold chain logistics, as complex system engineering, is very important. While the cold chain logistics system has been vigorously developing, the common problems we face include: selection of suitable location for cold chain distribution center as well as optimization of distribution route. In this paper, we mainly focus on how to optimize the cold chain logistics distribution for a fresh processing factory M. We propose the methods to optimize the cold chain logistics distribution for M based on linear programming model. First, we adopt location set covering problem (LSCP) to model the location problem of cold chain logistics distribution center for Factory M, and use zero one programming to solve the distribution center location. Then, we use transshipment problem, which is one of the transportation problem, to model and solve the distribution route for M. Experiments are conducted on IBM ILOG CPLEX Optimization platform, and the suitable plan of logistics distribution for Factory M is figured out at the end. The experiment result shows that the optimal solution using our optimization method can save about 15% of transportation cost compared to the result without any planning.

This study combines multi-regional inputoutput(MRIO)model with linearprogramming(LP)model to explore economic structure adjustment strategies for the reduction of carbon dioxide(CO_(2))emissions.A particular feature of this study is the identification of the optimal regulation sequence of final products in various regions to reduce CO_(2)emissions with the minimum loss in gross domestic product(GDP).By using China's MRIO tables 2017 with 28 regions and 42 economic sectors,results show that reduction in final demand leads to simultaneous reductions in GDP and CO_(2)***,certain demand side regulation strategy can be adopted to lower CO_(2)emissions at the smallest loss of economic *** key final products,such as metallurgy,nonmetal,metal,and chemical products,should first be regulated to reduce CO_(2)emissions at the minimum loss in *** of these key products concentrate in the coastal developed regions in *** proposed MRIO-LP model considers the inter-relationship among various sectors and regions,and can aid policy makers in designing effective policy for industrial structure adjustment at the regional level to achieve the national environmental and economic targets.
