An extensible cheat-proofing multi-secret sharing scheme with low computation complexity

Secret sharing schemes are widely applied in various areas, and there are series of achievements, among which the verifiable multi-secret schemes are the most representative ones. A few verifiable multi-secret schemes own the following drawbacks: insensitive to the differences of security levels, lack of expandability, high computation complexity of verification process, and low efficiency of execution. Addressing the issues, an extensible cheat-proofing multi-secret sharing scheme with low computation complexity is proposed. With the security of RSA public key system and discrete logarithm puzzle, the proposed scheme can realize the following functions: first, the secret dealer can set relatively threshold values according to different security levels;second, the participants and secret combiner can verify the secret shares, which can guard against cheating problem, resist various kinds of attacks and improve the success rate of secret reconstruction;in addition, the secret shares are reusable in the situations of new group secret and new participant joining the group, which brings about good expandability. Moreover, compared with the previous schemes, the proposed scheme reduces the information content published by secret dealer and brings down the computation complexity of verification, which makes the efficiency of the scheme greatly improved. A Novel Three-Vector-Based Model Predictive Flux Control With low computation complexity for SPMSM

A novel three-vector-based model predictive flux control (TV-MPFC) with low computation complexity and low stator flux ripple for SPMSM is proposed, in which the stator flux vector tracking error is evaluated in the cost function, so the weighting factor used in model predictive torque control (MPTC) is eliminated, thus avoiding tedious tuning work. To enhance the steady-state performance, three voltage vectors including two active vectors and one zero vector are applied in one period, and the key improvement of the proposed strategy is to construct a novel voltage vector selection table for the second optimal active vector based on the stator flux vector error which decreases the number of candidate active vectors, thus reducing the computation complexity. The single-vector-based MPFC (SV-MPFC) and four three-vector-based model predictive control (MPC) algorithms are compared in this article. The comparative experimental tests are finally implemented and the results show that the proposed TV-MPFC can enhance steady-state performance of stator flux while reducing computation complexity, hence it is more suitable for scenarios with higher requirement on stator flux.

Conventional secret image sharing schemes, which are constructed based on Shamir's method, often suffer from random-liked shares, lossy reconstruction and high computation complexity. In addition, their generated shares are generally in original image format which may lead to more storage and suspicion from invaders. In this paper, we propose a user-friendly secret image sharing scheme based on block truncation coding (BTC) and error diffusion, where meaningful shares can be directly generated without any extra process. The meaningful shares by the proposed scheme are in BTC-compressed format which can reduce the capacity of transfer and storage. In the reconstructing phase, the secret image can be loss-lessly reconstructed by performing XOR operations on bit planes of sufficient BTC-compressed shares. Further, the proposed scheme provides extra verification ability to identify cheaters and check false shares. Double-Objective Finite Control Set Model-Free Predictive Control with DSVM for PMSM Drives

Discrete space vector modulation (DSVM) is an effective method to improve the steady-state performance of the finite control set predictive control for permanent magnet synchronous motor drive systems. However, it requires complex computations due to the presence of numerous virtual voltage vectors. This paper proposes an improved finite control set model-free predictive control using DSVM to reduce the computational burden. First, model-free deadbeat current control is used to generate the reference voltage vector. Then, based on the principle that the voltage vector closest to the reference voltage vector minimizes the cost function, the optimal voltage vector is obtained in an effective way which avoids evaluation of the cost function. Additionally, in order to implement double-objective control, a two-level decisional cost function is designed to sequentially reduce the stator currents tracking error and the inverter switching frequency. The effectiveness of the proposed control is validated based on experimental tests.

PESA: a predictive energy-saving approach based on an OSHMM

Reducing energy consumption of the internet becomes more and more important. The authors propose a novel approach, called predictive energy-saving approach (PESA), to put near-idle nodes of a network into sleep mode to save energy. In PESA, they propose an online spatial hidden Markov model (OSHMM) to describe the distribution of the network traffic and predict the lowest-loaded nodes. Those nodes will be put into sleep mode under the constraints that the network's full connectivity is kept and no new congested nodes are generated. To reduce the computation, they leverage on an online training technique and M-algorithm in OSHMM. They evaluate the approach over a randomly generated topology and a real ISP backbone topology with a real traffic dataset. The results show that the proposed approach is energy efficient with low computation complexity.

Hybrid Frame Rate Upconversion Method Based on Motion Vector Mapping

Liquid crystal displays (LCDs), which serve as receivers of high visual quality video, suffer from motion blur issues. One of the methods in terminating motion blur is motion compensated frame rate upconversion, which is widely adopted in LCDs. In the previous work, i.e., particle-based frame rate upconversion, the computation complexity is high while repeated operations and some improper cost evaluation setup are observed. Therefore, in this paper, hybrid frame rate upconversion is proposed with two features. First, the cost evaluation for particle-based motion trajectory calibration is modified based on the possible noise sources and video resolution variations. Second, repeated operations in particle-based motion trajectory calibration are observed. Therefore, original particle-based motion trajectory calibration is replaced by initial motion vector assignment and subsequent motion vector mapping to achieve computation complexity reduction, while the effective search range is relatively expanded. According to the experiment results, the visual quality is enhanced by 1.87 dB on average, compared with state-of-the-art unidirectional-based frame rate upconversion approaches. On the other hand, the computation complexity of the proposed design is reduced by 25-90% based on target video resolution, concluding a high visual quality and low computation complexity frame rate upconversion design.

Outage capacity optimisation for cognitive radio networks with cooperative communications

Cognitive radio networks with cooperative communications can effectively improve spectrum efficiency and data rate. Under this network scenario, there are three possible transmission modes: direct transmission, multi-hop transmission and cooperative communication. To optimise the system performance, three issues should be carefully considered: whether or not and which relay is needed, which channel is selected and which transmission mode is used. Therefore in this study, the authors solve these three problems jointly to optimise the outage capacity for cognitive radio networks with cooperative communications. Particularly, they emphasise on the imperfect channel sensing situation. Under these setup and the constraints, the authors formulate the problem of relay determination, transmission channel and corresponding transmission mode selection to maximise the outage capacity as a discrete optimisation problem. Then a discrete stochastic optimisation algorithm is proposed to maximise the outage capacity to adaptively determine relay and select the optimal transmission channel and transmission mode. The proposed algorithm has fast convergence rate and low computation complexity. Moreover, the time-varying radio environment scenario is also considered, and they show that the proposed algorithm has good tracking capability for time-varying radio environment. Finally, simulation results are presented to demonstrate the performance of proposed scheme.

Blind algorithm for RIBI mitigation in OFDM systems

A novel blind algorithm is developed to mitigate the residual inter-block interference (RIBI) for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. The algorithm is based on the RIBI cancellation and cyclic structure recovery. Simulation shows that the proposed algorithm can effectively mitigate RIBI and has a low computation complexity.

Smart Privacy Protection for Big Video Data Storage Based on Hierarchical Edge Computing

Recently, the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT) has led to an increasing exponential growth of non-scalar data (e.g., images, videos). Local services are far from satisfying storage requirements, and the cloud computing fails to effectively support heterogeneous distributed IoT environments, such as wireless sensor network. To effectively provide smart privacy protection for video data storage, we take full advantage of three patterns (multi-access edge computing, cloudlets and fog computing) of edge computing to design the hierarchical edge computing architecture, and propose a low-complexity and high-secure scheme based on it. The video is divided into three parts and stored in completely different facilities. Specifically, the most significant bits of key frames are directly stored in local sensor devices while the least significant bits of key frames are encrypted and sent to the semi-trusted cloudlets. The non-key frame is compressed with the two-layer parallel compressive sensing and encrypted by the 2D logistic-skew tent map and then transmitted to the cloud. Simulation experiments and theoretical analysis demonstrate that our proposed scheme can not only provide smart privacy protection for big video data storage based on the hierarchical edge computing, but also avoid increasing additional computation burden and storage pressure.

The developed as whole signal detection algorithm is presented in this paper. The proposed algorithm is practical advancement of existent maximum-likelihood sequence estimator (MLSE) and transmitting reference technology. Made mathematical modeling presents performance benchmark over time-invariant intersymbol interference (ISI) and close to real indoor multipath channel models. The proposed algorithm can be widely adopted for ultra wideband (UWB) high-speed wireless networks because of low computation complexity and significant ISI mitigation.
