In this paper, we propose a novel reversible data hiding framework to hide secret data into a binary codestream of VQ indices invertibly, in which matrix encoding is used to efficiently embed secret data, and error correction coding (ECC) is employed for lossless restoration of the marked codestream at the receiver side. Due to the unchanged structure of the codestream during the embedding process, our scheme can significantly improve the security of our scheme. The use of ECC, however, leads to a decreased compression ratio. As a lossless compression method for VQ index tables, search-order coding is used as a remedy to improve the compression performance. According to the experimental results, it is testified that the proposed scheme achieves a high stego-image quality, a large embedding capacity, a high transmission efficiency and an acceptable compression performance. Moreover, our scheme achieves the relatively high performance in terms of the security.

Steganography is the science of hiding data into innocuous objects such that the existence of the hidden data remains imperceptible to an adversary. Steganography in images have varied techniques of implementation developed over time. Protection of the hidden information from an adversary is the most important goal of steganography and hence it is obvious that the security of a steganography system will increase if the payload remains illegible to an attacker even if he holds knowledge about the embedding method. It is also evident that certain areas in an image are more efficient for hiding data than the other parts of the image. These are called Regions of Interest or ROIs . Edge areas in an image are one of the ROIs that can be used for steganography. This paper proposes an edge adaptive image steganography mechanism which combines the benefits of matrix encoding and LSBM to embed data and also uses a chaotic mapping scheme to provide enhanced security to the payload. Efforts have been given to ensure that the proposed mechanism conforms to high Imperceptibility and Fidelity which are the essential quality requirements for any image steganography system.

To solve the problem that the speech information hiding algorithm based on random position selection and matrix coding has insufficient hiding capacity, the paper proposes a novel pitch modulation steganography method based on inactive frame. In this method, the least significant bit (LSB) replacement method is adopted for inactive frames, and the speech information hiding algorithm based on random position selection and matrix coding is adopted for active frames, which realises the pitch modulation information hiding method based on inactive frames. Finally, simulation experiments are carried out for the pitch modulation information hiding method based on inactive frames. The results indicate that the maximum hiding capacity of the algorithm in this paper can reach 241.67 bps, which significantly improves the hiding capacity, and at the same time the concealment has also been improved to a certain extent.

A novel nonlinear system identification method based on adaptive structural optimization of radial basis function neural network using particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed in this paper. Using matrix encoding strategy, all parameters such as hidden layer nodes number, central position, directional width, weights of RBF NN are estimated dynamically in global. Under the framework of Structure Risk Minimization, the RBF NN model with excellent approximation ability can be dredged with prediction risk fitness. Affordances are fundamental attributes of objects. Affordances reveal the functionalities of objects and the possible actions that can be performed on them. Understanding affordances is crucial for recognizing human activities in visual data and for robots to interact with the world. In this paper we introduce the new problem of mining the knowledge of semantic affordance: given an object, determining whether an action can be performed on it. This is equivalent to connecting verb nodes and noun nodes in WordNet, or filling an affordance matrix encoding the plausibility of each action-object pair. We introduce a new benchmark with crowdsourced ground truth affordances on 20 PASCAL VOC object classes and 957 action classes. We explore a number of approaches including text mining, visual mining, and collaborative filtering. Our analyses yield a number of significant insights that reveal the most effective ways of collecting knowledge of semantic affordances.

We find efficiency gains of 2.5-9× for exhaustive inference and approximately 2× for pruned inference, resulting in high-accuracy parsing at over 20 sentences per second. Our grammar encoding allows fine-grained parallelism during chart cell population;we present a controlled study of several methods of parallel parsing, and find near-optimal latency reductions as core-count increases.

The meaning of data (information) hiding is to embed the secret information into a cover host, such as an image. Usually, the naked eye of the people cannot perceive any change when the image is modified slightly. The evaluation of data hiding schemes should be measured by the distortion (or called Mean Square Error; MSE) and the embedding rate (the average number of bits embedded in a cover pixel). In this paper, we propose two improved data hiding schemes. One is to improve the EMD (Exploiting Modification Direction)-based data hiding algorithm to have higher stego-image quality. The other is to improve the matrix encoding-based data hiding algorithm by using the idea of Hamming+1 to further improve the stego-image quality. Both proposed improved schemes are verified to be correct through the theoretical analysis and the experiment.

In this paper, a new spatial domain block based encoding method is proposed which adds less noise during embedding. Proposed block based encoding scheme uses Single Digit Sum encoding and matrix encoding to improve the embedding efficiency. We show analytically that the amount of additive noise due to embedding for the proposed scheme is less than both LSB matching in single bitplane and LSB replacement in multiple bit planes. Experimental results reveal that the proposed scheme shows better performance against Wavelet Absolute Moment Steganalyzer than LSB with single plane and LSB with multiple planes.
