This paper illustrated the application of Levinpsilas transform in solving a system of equations arising in the method of moments solution. Numerical examples include the computation of charge on a conducting strip, current distribution on a thin wire antenna and scattering from a nanowire. Since the method is iterative, it does not require inversion of a matrix in the solution of the system of equations that result in a method of moments formulation. As a result, the degree of accuracy of the solution can be controlled by specifying a convergence factor.

Conventional memories approaching their scaling limit, reversible resistance switching effects attract considerable attention because of the potential for high density non volatile memory devices. These resistive switching phenomena have been reported in many simple transition metal oxide films such as TiO 2 or NiO deposited by standard sputtering techniques. This paper is investigating the feasibility of emerging resistive-switching stacks enabling integration of the memory element in interconnect structures resulting in very small memory cells. Indeed, we have developed innovative process steps leading to localized formation of bi-stable NiO at the bottom of via structures. Thickness-controlled NiO layers were formed from the partial oxidation of blanket Ni metallic layer through via holes opened in SiO 2 . Reversible and repetitive switching was demonstrated on arrays of vias with diameter down to 150 nm. Besides, encouraging reliability performances in terms of endurance and retention were obtained.

Workflows have been widely used for coordinating structured processes, whereas group support systems are used to facilitate ad hoc and unstructured collaboration activities. In many business settings, it is beneficial to use both workflows and group support systems. However, how to integrate workflow systems and group support systems have not been well studied in the literature. In this paper, we propose a scalable middleware framework, namely event management system, which can support high-degree decoupling between workflow and groupware. The event management architecture and its main functionalities as well as the implementation techniques are presented. We delineate the applicability of event-based integration by comparing with other integration paradigms.

message oriented middleware (MOM) is a key technology in financial market data delivery. In this context we study the advanced message queuing protocol (AMQP), an emerging open standard for MOM communication. We design a basic suite of benchmarks for AMQPpsilas Direct, Fanout, and Topic Exchange types. We then evaluate these benchmarks with Apache Qpid, an open source implementation of AMQP. In order to observe how AMQP performs in a real-life scenario, we also perform evaluations with a simulated stock exchange application. All our evaluations are performed over InfiniBand as well as 1 Gigabit Ethernet networks. Our results indicate that in order to achieve the high scalability requirements demanded by high performance computational finance applications, we need to use modern communication protocols, like RDMA, which place less processing load on the host. We also find that the centralized architecture of AMQP presents a considerable bottleneck as far as scalability is concerned.

In this paper we address the problem of subsumption checking for subscriptions in pub/sub systems. We develop a novel approach based on negative space representation for subsumption checking and provide efficient algorithms for subscription forwarding in a dynamic pub/sub environment. We then provide heuristics for approximate subsumption checking that greatly enhance the performance without compromising the correct execution of the system and only adding incremental cost in terms of extra computation in brokers. We illustrate the advantages of this novel approach by carrying out extensive experimentation.

A parametrical analysis of the electric permittivity evolution with frequency was performed in this paper. We have considered a board material class with PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) base and different reinforcement materials, for comparison. Characteristics of each material are different, considering their internal geometry and reinforcing fibers nature. Materials structures were simulated using the HFSS (3D Full-wave Electromagnetic Field Simulation) program, considering exposure field with linear variations after the coordinate axes. The results represent the effective permittivity evolution over a frequency range of 2.45 to 12.4 GHz, considering the thermal shift. Conclusions illustrate the resonant behavior of the permittivity and the thermal resonances shift in function of the material components properties.

In this paper, a similar but novel method presented in [3, 4], lifting wavelet-like transform (LWLT), is applied to the FMM method to sparsify the aggregation and disaggregation matrix. By compressing the elements in those two matrices in time, the method proposed can further speed up the MVM and save much memory when the FMM is used. Numerical results for different shaped three-dimensional objects are considered. Compared with the FMM technique, the application of the LWLT to the FMM can accelerate the MVM by factor of two with lower memory consumed.

This paper addresses the design and implementation of a residential gateway: MyServer, which is to provide services regarding home security, inventory tracking, facility management, and family care in a smart home system. Inherently an interactive and multitasking system driven by peripherals connected through wireless sensor networks, the overall MyServer architecture is designed with six clearly defined core service modules operating on a message oriented middleware (MOM) framework. Each of these modules is implemented with a programming template utilizing event publish/subscribe messaging mechanism. This paper also demonstrates a successful implementation of the proposed MyServer system in an emulated home environment, where peripherals are connected through ZigBee wireless sensor network.

DoD migration to Service oriented Architectures (SOA) enriches warfighter information access and, in so doing, intensifies the need for related real-time applications distributed across large geographic areas with highly mobile users and sensors. Such applications require exchange of critical, time-sensitive data among local as well as distant users across resource constrained networks, and as such are not themselves well suited to SOA. This paper explores an approach for supporting them that can synergize with the SOA environment while providing efficient real-time delivery of critical data across multiple, internetworked bearer systems with widely varying characteristics.

RCS data is the most important source for SAR processing. For electrically large targets, high accuracy and efficiency calculation is a very difficult topic. Higher order moment method is a Galerkin type version of MOM based on integral equation. It uses entire domain basis function in relatively large patches. Compared with sub-domain basis function, such as RWG, this method can reduce unknowns distinctly. It provides possibilities for electrically large models simulation. This paper adopts bilinear quadrilateral elements as the modelling method and higher order hierarchical polynomial expansion as the basis function. This kind of basis function can use different orders on different elements in order to get the highest efficiency. Based on this theory, codes were made to test its accuracy and efficiency. NASA almond and sphere, two classical metallic RCS test targets, are solved with the codes. Simulation results are identical with the measured and the analytical data.
