message-oriented middleware could used for communications among mobile devices and servers in data center. As an example of communications, we described a framework of message-oriented middleware on Erlang runtime environment, named EMP, to process the messages among the different devices. The platform includes the service-oriented protocol, unified message interface, and the message process engine. This paper has discussed the message-oriented middleware architecture and its implementation methods, which includes message-oriented architecture, protocol used for communication between cloud to cloud and between mobile device to cloud, unified message interface and message defintions and formats. In this paper, we also shared some of the test results of the middleware.

According to the Problems that predicate counting algorithm used for message-oriented with Publish/Subscribe model on TT&C computer has incomplete preprocessing and complex counting when processing large-scale information exchange. A grouping matching algorithm was put forward, it grouped subscription by binary tree according to message name and deleted subscription group whose message name set was not subset of the event. As for remaining subscription group, it constructed different index structure according to covered relationship between different predicates and filtered corresponding attributes. The result show that time efficiency of grouping matching algorithm is higher than traditional predicate counting algorithm.

The extension of services from the enterprise domain to the mobile infrastructure offers many attractive business cases for software companies. However, accomplishing this task poses many problems, which mainly stem from the differences of the environments and limited resources of the mobile terminals. One of the problems is application middleware frameworks applied in the Enterprise systems, which are difficult to be extended to the mobile domain. This paper presents a binary-based message-oriented middleware (MOM) solution to bridge the gap between the enterprise and mobile domains. Requirements for the proposal have been gathered from a mobile business case to be realized. The main advantage of the solution is the minimization of overhead compared to text-based approaches. Also reusability aspects of the solution have been discussed. The proposal can be seen as an alternative to the compressing the payload, when low cost access to mobile services with mobile devices with limited capabilities is considered as a requirement

This paper outlines the design and implementation of WSMQ, which is a message-oriented middleware specifically designed to enhance the reliability of Web services. Highlights of this application feature fault tolerance of Web services communication, Quality of Services including authentication and prioritization, security enhancement and performance improvements in Web services over the existing architecture. The implementation of these features aims to address the existing issues surrounding Web services, and further its advancement towards a new standard for distributed application development.

In the era of the Internet of Things (IoT) and heterogeneous Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems, Monolithic and proprietary Smart Building (SB) systems are unable to address the challenges of scalability, adaptability, and security. Improved integration and interoperability of the existing and future technologies are essential for overcoming the barriers of SB adoption. This paper proposes a real-time, brokerless, and message-oriented middleware (MoM) system for interfacing and interconnecting the digital and physical assets of the SB. It provides a holistic abstraction to the building management system (BMS) of the underlying device protocols and building construction properties, simplifying the design and reducing the overall system cost. Its distributed architecture scales to any building construction regardless of the devices' performance and connectivity limitations. A secure architecture ensures the integrity of data and operations, and an extensive performance and energy efficiency study validates the proposed design. While MoM systems have been traditionally used in cloud computing, it is the first time that such approach, based on building-distributed embedded electronics and the efficient ZeroMQ messaging library, is successfully validated for a cyber-physical system like the SB.

Publish/subscribe distributed systems rely on brokers as their central element. These brokers have many customizable parameters typically configured before execution and remain static throughout the system’s operation. However, adjusting these parameters dynamically at runtime can offer significant advantages. It enables brokers to better adapt to changing workloads, optimize resource usage, and align with evolving application requirements. Despite these benefits, dynamically customizing broker parameters poses challenges due to the number of adjustable parameters, inherent software complexity, difficulty properly setting the parameters, and the need for dedicated APIs. This paper explores using control theory to adjust brokers’ parameters dynamically. The investigation involves implementing and tuning various controllers, such as classical PID, variants of PID and unconventional controllers drawn from cloud computing and network control flow. These controllers are used to fine-tune the behaviour of a commercial broker dynamically. Ultimately, the control-theoretical broker is rigorously assessed using metrics to identify the most effective controller and tuning method. The findings of this research have practical implications, contributing to the effective management of messaging systems by demonstrating the practical application of control theory concepts and mechanisms to dynamically adapt the broker to changing environmental conditions.

This paper presents a prototype of a distributed training simulator for a surface-to-air missile system. Since the system requirement enforces us to choose an open standard platform, and we think that Java has matured enough to offer acceptable performance and reliability, we decide to implement it by Java. Basically, this training simulator is a distributed interactive application, and lots of messages are exchanged within it. For the performance reason, we use an IP-multicast-based Java message service (JMS) implementation as the communication infrastructure for delivering time-critical events. In this paper, we present how to exploit the capability of the JMS publish/subscribe paradigm to implement this training simulator. Besides, we also perform a set of experiments to test and verify whether the training simulator can meet the system requirement. We think the experience of this paper is a good case study of using Java and message-oriented middleware to build message-intensive distributed systems.

Most of message-oriented middleware of distance teaching platform are centralized message-oriented middleware (MOM) based on C/S model. The clients interact with each other through center messaging servers. The disadvantages of traditional centralized MOM, such as single-point congestions and singlepoint failures, decrease the communication efficiency greatly. In this paper, we design a novel MOM for Distance teaching. It enhances the system expansibility, and is easier to maintain and upgrade, and increases the efficiency of remote real-time message delivery significantly.

This paper presents how to model and carry out the performance analysis of message-oriented middleware (MOM) using generalised stochastic Petri Net (GSPN) models. The results obtained from the Petri net analysis are compared against ones measured in a commercial MOM. Additionally, some results are presented in order to demonstrate the flexibility and the benefits of the proposed model. This research also focuses on how to improve the MOM performance by suggesting appropriated techniques and adjustments to the MOM basic architecture. Finally, we point out some decisions usually taken by systems administrators that may have a major impact on the performance of MOM systems.

The middleware technology used as the foundation of Internet-enabled enterprise systems is becoming increasingly complex. In addition, the various technologies offer a number of standard architectures that can be used by designers as templates to build applications. However, there is little concrete understanding in the software industry on the strengths and weaknesses of competing technologies, and the different trade-offs that various component architectures impose. The SACT Group at CSIRO has qualitatively and quantitatively evaluated a number of commercially available message-oriented middleware (MOM) systems. This paper focuses on the results obtained from the performance evaluation of the IBM's MQSeries V5.2. It presents an overview of the technology, and discusses the metric used in this study for performance measurement The test results related to the sustainable performance of the system using various test configurations are described and their implications discussed.
