We present terahertz performance of integrated lens antennas consisting of a complementary log-periodic planar feed and a synthesized elliptical lens. The radiation pattern and the impedance of the planar feed are computed using the method of moments; the action of the lens is evaluated using the physical-optics approach based on the Huygens principle. In the frequency range from 0.6 to 5 THz measured antenna efficiency and radiation pattern correspond fairly well with the results of simulations approving this simulation technique as a reliable tool for the antenna design.

In this work, a fast algorithm is proposed to evaluate the radiation properties of antennas near to or attached on a large-scale three-dimensional (3D) PEC object with arbitrary shape using the fast multipole method (FMM) and MRM. Similar to the conventional MRM, the PEC object under consideration is first divided into multiple regions depending on the position of the antenna in the new model. Then FMM is employed to evaluate the current distribution in the rigorous region. Therefore, the rigorous region is referred as the FMM region in the new model. Furthermore, the mutual coupling among multiple regions has also been considered efficiently using FMM. Numerical results are given to show the validity and efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

In this paper, we discuss the enhancement of a MoM-based full-wave layered interconnect simulator (UA-FWLIS) so that it can handle conductor losses. By introducing an effective surface current and a surface impedance, the losses on the interconnects can be easily included in UA-FWLIS by adding an extra term to the reaction elements. Thus, the approach for analytically calculating the integrals in the reaction matrix, which uses readily computable ILHIs and residue theory, is still valid and the efficiency of UA-FWLIS can be retained. Comparing the S-parameter results from UA-FWLIS with those from Agilent Momentum validates the accuracy of the enhanced UA-FWLIS.

Whenever message-oriented middleware is used within applications which run on heterogeneous software systems of multiple partners, and middleware protocols have to be replaced or to fulfil changing tasks, it may be considerably advantageous to have a modular system which supports the exchange of protocols and a dynamic adaptation to changing requirements. Our approach to middleware allows system developers to generate a modular stack of message-oriented middleware from a set of service specifications. We present a technique how service specifications can be translated into executable middleware code that includes a message queue, a stack of protocols chosen by the middleware developer, and a set of modules that implement the desired tasks.

In this paper, a novel class of entire-domain basis functions for the method of moment (MoM) for electromagnetic scattering from scatterers whose cross section is symmetric about both x and y axis is presented. The basis functions are constructed using group theory. Point-matching method with the above basis functions has been applied to solve the electromagnetic scattering of an egg-like scatterer. Accurate numerical result is obtained with much less memory in much shorter time.

SIMD extensions are the most common technique used in current processors for multimedia computing. In order to obtain more performance for emerging applications SIMD extensions need to be scaled. In this paper we perform a scalability analysis of SIMD extensions for multimedia applications. Scaling a 1-dimensional extension, like Intel MMX, was compared to scaling a 2-dimensional (matrix) extension. Evaluations have demonstrated that the 2-d architecture is able to use more parallel hardware than the 1-d extension. Speed-ups over a 2-way superscalar processor with MMX-like extension go up to 4X for kernels and up to 3.3X for complete applications and the matrix architecture can deliver, in some cases, more performance with simpler processor configurations. The experiments also show that the scaled matrix architecture is reaching the limits of the DLP available in the internal loops of common multimedia kernels
