Summary form only given. A number of approaches have been suggested for analyzing the performance of slotted waveguide antennas. In this study, a well-known technique called the method of moments (MoM) is used to design slotted waveguide antenna arrays. Novel types of slotted waveguide structure namely centerline slot with tuning screw are presented. Generally, the performance of the slotted arrays depends on the choice of physical dimension, width, and displacement of the tuning screw, number of slots and their overall arrangements. The results from the numerical simulation are compared to the widely used finite element code (high frequency structure simulator) HFSS.

In a highly mobile ad-hoc environment, traditional client-server sessions may be disrupted due to lossy and intermittent conditions. The reliable server pooling (RSP) is a comprehensive framework to handle session failures and increase the system's availability. It is an overlay network providing several reliability services, from simple server selection to a full session-failover capability. In FCS networks, server pools can be used to reliably replicate services such as mobile command and control, redundant databases and proxies, situational awareness, tactical public key infrastructure (TPKI), DNS, PCS backbone management, and bandwidth brokerage. One approach to RSP is the IETF RSerPool. Simulation experiments indicate that the performance of the RSerPool worsens rapidly as the networks become more unreliable or mobile due to two main shortcomings: the inaccuracy of the failure-detection mechanism for pooled servers, and high overhead of finding name servers. We introduce and evaluate alternative mechanisms that overcome these problems.

An analytical method is proposed for efficient computation of the matrix elements in the method of moment (MoM) solution of surface integral equations. The method is based on expressing the free space Green's function as a summation of plane waves. The exponential form of the plane wave expansion, makes it possible to analytically evaluate the surface integrals involved in computing the matrix elements as closed form expressions. This method reduces the computational complexity of filling the matrix from O(N/sup 2/) to O(N).

An adaptive integral method (AIM) solution is described for the problem of electromagnetic transmission through radomes of arbitrary shape. The far field transmitted through a radome excited by a dipole array is studied. The computed results for spherical radomes are in excellent agreement with the exact results. The application of AIM significantly reduces the memory and CPU time requirement for solving the integral equation. Hence, the algorithm presented can be applied to the efficient and accurate analysis of dielectric radomes of sizes much larger than those that can be analyzed by a direct numerical method.

Michalski's formulation-C Green's functions are reformulated in terms of modified transmission line Green's functions (TLGF). The reformulation reduces the number of functions to be handled by the discrete complex image method (DCIM) and makes the handling of functions containing 1/k/sub /spl rho///sup 2/ and the extraction of singularities of spatial-domain Green's functions easier. The reformulation may also be applied to other forms of Green's functions for multilayered media.

In this paper, the solution of moment method is to calculate KCS of arbitrarily partially coated conducting objects by using triangle-roof function as base function from the electromagnetic field integral equations. Some special numerical treatments have been proposed to improve the accuracy of calculation. The asymptotic waveform evaluation (AWE) technique is combined with the method of moment (MOM) is to realize the fast evaluation of RCS of arbitrarily partially coated conducting objects in a wide band. The theory is verified by numerical results.

Procedures for determining the currents and input impedance of a linear dipole antenna are generally based on studies of the electric-field integral equation (EFIE), specifically the Pocklington or Hallen equations. Approaches based on the magnetic field integral equation (MFIE) have received little attention other than the work of Zhang and his colleagues in the 1980s. Zhang's MFIE implementation employed a series feed and used a low-order method of moments discretization. In the following, the MFIE with a frill feed model is considered. Three discretization procedures, the method of moments (MoM), the boundary residual method (BRM), and the locally-corrected Nystrom (LCN) method, are investigated. Since the MFIE is only rigorously applicable to closed conducting bodies, currents on flat end caps are included in the model.

Integral equation methodologies applied to extract parasitics at the board, package, and on-chip levels involve solving a dense system of equations. In this paper, we present an improved oct-tree based multilevel QR compression technique for fast iterative solution. The regular tree and interaction structure of the fast multipole method, and the QR compression scheme applied to interaction sub-matrices as in IES/sup 3/ are combined to achieve superior time and memory efficiency. As is demonstrated by numerical simulation results presented herein, the new algorithm is found to be faster than both existing QR based methods and FastCap.
