Strong antenna miniaturization (lambda/15 x lambda/15 x lambda/25 at 401.5 MHz) and its impact on radiation performance are analyzed in this paper. The proposed micro-array of four half-loops with capacitor-loading allows to support circular polarization and the implementation of a second frequency band patch antenna for hybrid Terrestrial/ Satellite IoT. Field tests campaign demonstrates the robustness of the solution in a metallic context and its radio link quality improvement compared to the smallest available COTS antenna.

This paper presents the design of a Right-Hand Circularly Polarized (RHCP) electrically small array (or microarray). The design principle is based on the use of highly coupled three-IFA radiators distributed over a circular configuration. Only one antenna is driven, while optimized complex impedance loads are connected on the non-driven (parasitic) elements. The parasitic load values are computed using a numerical tool based on Spherical Wave Expansion (SWE), where a specific Circularly Polarized (CP) radiation objective is defined. The proposed antenna having an electrical size of ka = 0.6 exhibits an RHCP radiation in the GPS-L2 band with 4 dBic gain.

Based on the high sensitivity and miniaturization advantages of MEMS vector hydrophone, we proposed and designed a monolithic integrated micro-array vector hydrophone composed of multiple sensor units. The theoretical model shows that the micro-array can improve the structural sensitivity and output signal-to-noise ratio while eliminating the problem of port and starboard ambiguity. Meanwhile, the micro-array structure clearly reduces the installation error of conventional vector array and improve the directional accuracy. Taking 5 element micro-array as an example, the resonance frequency in wet mode reaches 956 Hz that meets the requirement of test frequency band. Through theoretical and computational analysis, the sensitivity of micro array is increased 14 dB and the SNR is increased 3.1 dB compared with that of the single vector hydro phone. The standing-wave tube experiment verified the directional effect of vector micro-array. The research of vector hydrophone micro-array is helpful to the application of underwater acoustic engineering.

Our earlier studies have established improved cold tolerance in the transgenic tomato (Solanum lycopersicum cv. Pusa Ruby) developed through constitutive over expression of Nicotiana tabacum Osmotin gene. To understand the molecular responses, micro-array analysis was performed in the transgenic and the wild type on cold (4.0 °C) treatment for 2 and 24 h using Affymetrix GeneChip^® Tomato Genome array. The principal component analysis plots placed the wild type and transgenic in different regions, indicating differential transcript regulation on cold exposure. The differential gene expression analysis performed using pairwise comparison for transgenic and wild type indicated modulation of 307 out of 3770 genes, by 10 or higher fold on cold treatment. Sugar and amino acid metabolism together constituted the maximum of the annotated products of the differentially expressed genes. The results revealed modulation of expression of responsive genes involved in various functions in the transgenic tomato on cold treatment. © 2021, The National Academy of Sciences, India.

IgE-reactivity profiles to allergen molecules in Russian children with and without symptoms of allergy revealed by micro-array analysis

Background The analysis of longitudinal birth cohorts with micro-arrayed allergen molecules has provided interesting information about the evolution of IgE sensitization in children. However, so far no cross-sectional study has been performed comparing IgE sensitization profiles in children with and without symptoms of allergy. Furthermore, no data are available regarding molecular IgE sensitization profiles in children from Russia. Methods We recruited two groups of age- and gender-matched children, one (Group 1: n = 103;12.24 +/- 2.23 years;male/female: 58/45) with symptoms and a second (Group 2: n = 97;12.78 +/- 2.23 years;male/female: 53/44), without symptoms of allergy according to international ISAAC questionnaire. Children were further studied regarding symptoms of allergy (rhinitis, asthma, atopic dermatitis) according to international guidelines, and skin prick testing with a panel of aeroallergen extracts was performed before sera were analyzed in an investigator-blinded manner for IgE specific to more than 160 micro-arrayed allergen molecules using ImmunoCAP ISAC technology. Results IgE sensitization = or >0.3 ISU to at least one of the micro-arrayed allergen molecules was found in 100% of the symptomatic children and in 36% of the asymptomatic children. Symptomatic and asymptomatic children showed a comparable IgE sensitization profile;however, frequencies of IgE sensitization and IgE levels to the individual allergen molecules were higher in the symptomatic children. Aeroallergen sensitization was dominated by sensitization to major birch pollen allergen, Bet v 1, and major cat allergen, Fel d 1. Food allergen sensitization was due to cross-sensitization to PR10 pollen and food allergens whereas genuine peanut sensitization was absent. Conclusion This is the first study analyzing molecular IgE sensitization profiles to more than 160 allergen molecules in children with and without symptoms of allergy. This article describes a new approach in antenna design automation. We propose to use a micro-array of coupled antennas loaded by impedances and to perform the optimization of these impedance values in order to reach specific design goals. In particular, we present a demonstration for dual-band GNSS that requires good RHCP gain (in the range -2 dBic to 0 dBic) and low LHCP gain (below -10 dBic). The proposed automated design process has been able to meet these requirements jointly in L2 (1215-1240 MHz) and L1 frequency bands (1560-1610 MHz). A prototype has been fabricated, and characterized in anechoic chamber to validate the proposed design methodology.

Simulation of Hydrophobicity Evaluation and Structural Optimization Design Method for micro-array Units

In recent years, researches published on hydrophobic materials increase rapidly, wherein the method for changing hydrophobicity by modifying a micro-array structure on the surface of the material also has been proposed. Of course, if it is possible for us to quantitatively analyse and evaluate hydrophobicity of different structures of one certain material at first, this task will greatly optimize the design of actual structures. In this work, we used the algorithm for Laminar Two-Phase Flow, Horizontal-set method integrated in COMSOL to build two single-pore simulation structures in different shapes and simulated the behaviour of the liquid transition from Cassie-state to Wenzel-state during the impregnation process. After that, the intrinsic contact angle of Structure T (a porous structure with a T-shaped sectional profile) was obtained under a certain pressure which maintained liquids in Cassie-state. Meanwhile, two equilibrium states of the liquid-air interface as well as two different patterns of the equilibrium state disrupting were found in Structure R (a porous structure with a Chamfered T-shaped sectional profile). Simulation results show that the modelling method can be applied for simulating the hydrophobicity of different porous structures and optimizing the procedures for the design of the micro-array efficiently.

Background The specificities of IgE and IgG for allergen molecules in patients with inborn errors of immunity (IEI) have not been investigated in detail. Objective To study IgE and IgG antibody specificities in patients with defined hyper-IgE syndromes (HIES) using a comprehensive panel of allergen molecules. Methods We used chips containing micro-arrayed allergen molecules to analyze allergen-specific IgE and IgG levels in sera from two groups of HIES patients: Autosomal recessive mutations in phosphoglucomutase-3 (PGM3);Autosomal dominant negative mutations of STAT3 (STAT3);and age-matched subjects with allergic sensitizations. Assays with rat basophil leukemia cells transfected with human Fc epsilon RI were performed to study the biological relevance of IgE sensitizations. Results Median total IgE levels were significantly lower in the sensitized control group (212.9 kU/L) as compared to PGM3 (5042 kU/L) and STAT3 patients (2561 kU/L). However, PGM3 patients had significantly higher allergen-specific IgE levels and were sensitized to a larger number of allergen molecules as compared to STAT3 patients. Biological relevance of IgE sensitization was confirmed for PGM3 patients by basophil activation testing. PGM3 patients showed significantly lower cumulative allergen-specific IgG responses in particular to milk and egg allergens as compared to STAT3 patients and sensitized controls whereas total IgG levels were comparable to STAT3 patients and significantly higher than in controls. Conclusion The analysis with multiple micro-arrayed allergen molecules reveals profound differences of allergen-specific IgE and IgG recognition in PGM3 and STAT3 patients which may be useful for classification of IEI and clinical characterization of patients.

RNA Sequencing (RNA-Seq) has been considered a revolutionary technique in gene profiling and quantification. It offers a comprehensive view of the transcriptome, making it a more expansive technique in comparison with micro-array. Genes that discriminate malignancy and normal can be deduced using quantitative gene expression. However, this data is a high-dimensional dense matrix;each sample has a dimension of more than 20,000 genes. Dealing with this data poses challenges. This paper proposes RBNRO-DE (Relief Binary NRO based on Differential Evolution) for handling the gene selection strategy on (rnaseqv2 illuminahiseq rnaseqv2 un edu Level 3 RSEM genes normalized) with more than 20,000 genes to pick the best informative genes and assess them through 22 cancer datasets. The k-nearest Neighbor (k-NN) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) are applied to assess the quality of the selected genes. Binary versions of the most common meta-heuristic algorithms have been compared with the proposed RBNRO-DE algorithm. In most of the 22 cancer datasets, the RBNRO-DE algorithm based on k-NN and SVM classifiers achieved optimal convergence and classification accuracy up to 100% integrated with a feature reduction size down to 98%, which is very evident when compared to its counterparts, according to Wilcoxon's rank-sum test (5% significance level).

microarray analysis and PCR validation of genes associated with facultative parthenogenesis in Meleagris gallopavo (Turkey)

A cDNA microarray containing 43,661 differentially expressed genes was carried out on the blastoderm of fertilized and facultative parthenogenic turkey embryos at different hours of development. The total number of up-regulated (UR) and down-regulated (DR) genes at 0,12, and 24 h of development were 725 and 1436, 942 and 599, and 589 and 1044, respectively. Common genes between 0 and 12 h, 12 and 24 h, and 0 and 24 h were 55, 67, and 110, respectively. The proportion of genes showing above 50-fold UR and DR at 0,12, and 24 h of development were 2.0% and 1.5%, 0.5% and 1.2%, and 0.2% and 1.1%, respectively. Eight UR genes were validated (APOA1, THRAP3, ARL14EP, PSAP, MOG, MYBPC2, MTIF3 and EDG4) and relative expression of six of them was significantly higher (P <= 0.05) in parthenogenic embryos, while two genes showed non-significant (P >= 0.05) variation. The expression of BCL11A, PRP4B, TCP1, and TPI1 genes was significantly (P <= 0.05) DR in parthenotes in the micro-array study, while the TCP1 gene was up-regulated, and there was no variation in TPI1 gene expression in the PCR validation study. In conclusion, our findings demonstrate differential expression of a large number of genes in parthenotes at different stages of embryo development compared to fertilized embryos. Up-regulation of APOA1, MYBPC2, TCP1, and THRAP3 genes, suggest their crucial role in spontaneous facultative parthenogenic development in turkey birds. (C) 2022 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
