Nowadays, new challenges are arising in the multiple industrial sectors focused on the application or adaptation of the digitalized solution with a high grade of optimization in the process, traceability, information & knowledge generation, products personalization, connectivity, customer feedback, etc. The aim is to provide an excellent product or service, increasing your productivity, competitiveness and presence in the market. In particular, manufacturing processes adopt solution with higher sensor system levels based on Cyber-Physical System approaches to obtain process parameters and control machine tools, robots and industrial drives on the shop floor, plant or global production stations. The present article introduces a condition-based monitoring architecture to manage alarm and events based on global information captured by multiple sensors integrated a family of CNC machine tools. The architecture is divided in two modules: a local system embedded in each machine and a cloud as a service system to supervise the local accuracy based on global system knowledge. Finally, an industrial CPS study case based on a bearing benchmark is simulated, validating the local condition-based monitoring stability in function of the update provides by the global module. Due to technological advancements and the ever- increasing demand for sustainable modes of transport, research on autonomous driving, shared mobility, and micro-mobility has gained interest, particularly in urban mobility. To facilitate such transport modes, systems like bike-sharing, car-sharing, and shared autonomous cars are implemented. However, the systems mentioned above have traffic congestion, a lack of parking space availability, and on-demand service concerns. To address the aforementioned challenges, we intend to integrate an on-demand shared-use, self-driving cargo-bikes service (OSABS) as a new mode of transportation into the urban mobility ecosystem. The selection of energy supply technology for self-driving cargo bikes is essential for making the OSABS system more environment-friendly and sustainable. Therefore, this paper aims to identify a suitable energy supply technology for our self-driving cargo bikes. Following that, we compare each technology using key performance indicators (KPIs), such as service level, implementation cost, energy consumption cost, charging station utilization, and profit analysis. Furthermore, we use the agent-based simulation model to experiment with the identified energy supply technologies, such as battery-powered and hydrogen fuel cell-powered autonomous cargo bikes. The industrial environment is slowly transforming to a networked system of systems nature with industry 4.0. Automation systems are getting more production friendly by being more reconfigurable and adaptable. The plant engineering process is also getting improved by offering modular architecture, model-based engineering, etc. This transformation necessitates novel methodologies in maintenance practices as well. With the emergence of predictive maintenance techniques, sometimes it is possible to predict a breakdown and thus conveniently schedule the corrective maintenance. But this is not always the case, the incidence of unscheduled corrective maintenance is prevalent in an industrial environment. And the methodologies for corrective maintenance have to be reshaped fitting to the new plant environment. This paper introduces a new modular corrective maintenance methodology, using the digital twin of an automation module. Fault ascription support for a human technician, performing corrective maintenance action of an automation module is provided by its digital twin and associated visual interface. This work studies Nash equilibria for games where a mixture of coordinating and anti-coordinating agents, with possibly heterogeneous thresholds, coexist and interact through an all-to-all network. Whilst games with only coordinating or only anti-coordinating agents are potential, also in the presence of heterogeneities, this does not hold when both type of agents are simultaneously present. This makes their analysis more difficult and existence of Nash equilibria not guaranteed. Our main result is a checkable condition on the threshold distributions that characterizes the existence of Nash equilibria in such mixed games. When this condition is satisfied an explicit algorithm allows to determine the complete set of such equilibria. Moreover, for the special case when only one type of agents is present (either coordinating or anti-coordinating), our results allow an explicit computation of the cardinality of Nash equilibria. We present an approach to discrete datasets analysis on the basis of integrated rating mechanisms identification approaches, developed recently. On the basis of three data sets, the results of the work of the method for identifying integrated rating mechanisms on incomplete data are demonstrated. This paper focuses on solving the optimization of crude oil operations scheduling carried out in a real system composed of a refinery and a marine terminal, over a monthly horizon. In the present article, we introduce a large-scale mixed-integer non-linear programming (MINLP) model that faithfully represents the operation and characteristics of the system. Considering the model's complexity and its non-linear and non-convex nature, the challenge lies in solving the model in a time frame that meets the user's needs. To tackle this problem, we develop a temporal decomposition method in conjunction with a linear approximation. Copyright (c) 2023 The Authors.

complex manufacturing systems are challenging to study because of the high level of information required and the inaccessibility of most of it. Their tractability is however essential for the efficiency of state-of-the-art industries. This is particularly the case in the semiconductor industry that faces high mix and low volume conditions, and for which traditional methods fail to capture the high complexity and require continuous actions and corrections to adjust to heterogeneous toolsets and product-mix. We present the Concurrent WIP (CWIP), a new way of studying such systems at the level of a process-cluster by identifying each job's queue from its own perspective. CWIP is designed to be practical, with a low level of resource investments, yet informative. We explain how CWIP can be computed based on historical data and then used to derive capacity estimates and clearing functions without any assumptions on the system or on the form of the functions. In the process, we derive not only an average workload-dependent capacity, but also a confidence interval on this capacity. The relevance and efficiency of the proposed estimates are experimentally tested on a simulated system mimicking a small but complex process-cluster of the semiconductor industry. The estimates are used to predict WIP absorption times and we show how they characterize well not only the average behavior but also the full range of possible behaviors of the system. Finally, we discuss further applications of CWIP, that could be used to compute refined clearing functions or to monitor complex systems. Copyright (C) 2022 The Authors.

In this paper we investigate how decentralised scheduling approaches can be used to improve manufacturing scheduling. In view of the potential shown by some of these novel decentralised approaches, we conduct a series of experiments on a set of job shop instances subject to different degrees of variability in their processing times, and compare the performance of different scoring methods under the Contract Net Protocol proposed by Guizzi et al. (2019) with the objective of minimizing the expected makespan. We also compare the performance of the optimal (centralised and deterministic) solution in the stochastic setting, as well as a hybrid centralised-decentralised approach. Despite some limitations in the experiments, the results show the excellent performance of the decentralised approach if its operating parameters are optimized, and that the hybrid approach serves to overcome some of the problems of both centralised and decentralised approaches. This paper focuses on the optimization of crude oil operations scheduling in a refinery that is supplied with crude oil by ship. One of the main challenges associated with the crude oil operations scheduling problem is the management of crude storage in tanks. Since storage capacity is limited and there are several types of crude oil depending on their composition, it is necessary to store mixtures of crude oil in tanks. This feature makes necessary the inclusion of nonlinear, non-convex constraints, which complicates the resolution of mathematical programming models. To address this problem, we have developed a mathematical programming model based on a continuous-time formulation using time slots, along with a strategy based on piecewise McCormick relaxation that allows us to efficiently handle the nonlinear constraints generated by blending crude oils in tanks.
