In this work, modified constant modulus algorithm based on bat algorithm is proposed for wireless sensor communications systems. The bat algorithm is a swarm intelligence optimization algorithm, which mainly used to solve optimization problems. The proposed algorithm focused on modified constant modulus algorithm, which is also applicable to the constant modulus algorithm. The error function of blind equalization algorithm is used as the evaluation function of the bat algorithm, and then the initial value of the weight vector is calculated adaptively by the bat algorithm. Theoretical analysis is provided to illustrate that the proposed algorithm has a faster convergence speed than the original one and is suitable for almost all blind channel equalization algorithms. The simulation results support the newly proposed improved algorithm. The proposed algorithm could be applied to some more complex wireless channel environments to improve the reception performance of sensor communication systems.

At present, in robot technology, remote control of robot is realized by wireless communication technology, and data anti-interference in wireless channel becomes a very important part. Any wireless communication system has an inherent multi-path propagation problem, which leads to the expansion of generated symbols on a time scale, resulting in symbol overlap and Inter-symbol Interference (ISI). ISI in the signal must be removed and the signal restores to its original state at the time of transmission or becomes as close to it as possible. Blind equalization is a popular equalization method for recovering transmitted symbols of superimposed noise without any pilot signal. In this work, we propose a concurrent modified constant modulus algorithm (MCMA) and the decision-directed scheme (DDS) with the Barzilai-Borwein (BB) method for the purpose of blind equalization of wireless communications systems (WCS). The BB method, which is two-step gradient method, has been widely employed to solve multidimensional unconstrained optimization problems. Considering the similarity of equalization process and optimization process, the proposed algorithm combines existing blind equalization algorithm and Barzilai-Borwein method, and concurrently operates a MCMA equalizer and a DD equalizer. After that, it modifies the DD equalizer's step size (SS) by the BB method. Theoretical investigation was involved and it demonstrated rapid convergence and improved equalization performance of the proposed algorithm compared with the original one. Additionally, the simulation results were consistent with the proposed technique.

In digital communications, the modified constant modulus algorithm(MCMA) is known to outperform the constant modulus algorithm(CMA) considerably. However in underwater acoustic communications which occur seriously multipath fading and Doppler frequency shift, the MCMA only achieves moderate convergence rate and steady-state mean square error(MSE). So a new modified constant modulus algorithm is presented which is suitable for high-data-rate underwater acoustic communications. The proposed approach uses a novel constant function to channel the modulus of received signals to match the statistical modulus, which can reduce the incorrect decision and decrease the inter-symbol interference(ISI) more effectively. Compared with MCMA the proposed algorithm has faster convergence rate and lower steady-state MSE. The efficiency of the method is proved by computer simulations in underwater acoustic channels.

In this paper, a new blind restoration scheme for blurred noisy image is proposed. The blurred noisy image is assumed to be the output of a linear space-invariant (LSI) system with an unknown point spread function (PSF) contaminated by an additive noise. The scheme passes the blurred noisy image through a two-dimensional (2D) finite impulse response filter whose parameters are updated by the modified constant modulus algorithm (CMA) with averaging and variable step size adaptive filter. When convergence occurs, the output of the filter is an estimate of the unobserved true image. Simulation and real blurred noisy image results show that the presented algorithm is effective and robust.

A blind equalization algorithm may switche to a Decision-Directed (DD) equalization mode in order to speed up the convergence rate and improve the steady-state performance. The crux for this kind of equalization is the control of the swithes between the two equalizatiom mode. A new blind equalization scheme is proposed which automatically controls the switches between the blind equalization mode and DD equalization mode according to the estimated error variance, and the blind equalization mode used in the proposed scheme is the modified constant modulus algorithm. Simulation results shows that the proposed blind equalization scheme can present significant improvements in the convergence rates along with steady-state performance.

Coherent detection has higher receiver sensitivity and linearity, but higher power consumption compared with direct detection. In passive optical network (PON), the cost-effective and low-complexity coherent detection has drawn more and more attention. In this letter, enhanced direct detection least mean square (DD-LMS) and modified constant modulus algorithm (MCMA) schemes are compared in 25/30Gbaud polarization division multiplexing (PDM) four pulse amplitude modulation (PAM4) heterodyne coherent detection PON. Both schemes are used for polarization demultiplexing. With lower computational complexity, enhanced DD-LMS scheme gets better performance compared with MCMA scheme. According to the simulation results, after 80-km transmission, the receiver sensitivity at HD-FEC threshold of 3.8x10(-3) is -33.8dBm and -32.8dBm for enhanced DD-LMS and MCMA, respectively. The maximum power budgets are 39.2dB and 38.3dB.

Coherent optical communication critically relies on efficient digital signal processing (DSP). We demonstrate a lite DSP scheme to reduce the transmission cost and power consumption, which is mainly realized by reducing the sampling rate and simplifying the DSP algorithm. On the one hand, the baud-rate sampling technique based on the integral circuit can reduce the amount of data processing in DSP. On the other hand, we proposed a simplified joint modified constant modulus algorithm (MCMA) and phase-dependent decision-directed least mean square (DD-LMS) algorithm for adaptive blind polarization demultiplexing and phase recovery in which the butterfly structure is no longer needed for DD-LMS. And we compare the proposed simplified algorithm with the joint traditional CMA and blind phase search and the MCMA, in terms of performance in the 80-Gbaud dual-polarization 64QAM homodyne detection system. The results show that the proposed lite DSP mechanism can effectively reduce the power consumption of DSP by sub-rate sampling and simplifying the corresponding algorithm, which provides an alternative scheme for low-power optical interconnection of data centers.
