We investigate properties of two-weight codes over finite Frobenius rings, giving constructions for the modular case. A -modular code (in: Honold T, Honold in Proceedings of the fifth international workshop on optimal codes and related topics, White Lagoon, Bulgaria, 2007) is characterized as having a generator matrix where each column appears with multiplicity for some . Generalizing (Delsarte in Discret Math 3:47-64, 1972) and (Byrne et al in Finite Fields Appl 18(4):711-727, 2012), we show that the additive group of a two-weight code satisfying certain constraint equations (and in particular a modular code) has a strongly regular Cayley graph and derive existence conditions on its parameters. We provide a construction for an infinite family of modular two-weight codes arising from unions of submodules with pairwise trivial intersection. The corresponding strongly regular graphs are isomorphic to graphs from orthogonal arrays.

We define an elementary family of lattices, from which we obtain a family of extended cyclic codes with coefficients in the modular integers. The first nontrivial subfamily is the family of quaternary Preparata codes. The family of dual codes coincides with the extended low-correlation sequences introduced by Kumar, Helleseth, and Calderbank.

A detailed description of the implementation of the effective fragment potential (EFP) method in the Q-CHEM electronic structure package is presented. The Q-CHEM implementation interfaces EFP with standard quantum mechanical (QM) methods such as HartreeFock, density functional theory, perturbation theory, and coupled-cluster methods, as well as with methods for electronically excited and open-shell species, for example, configuration interaction, time-dependent density functional theory, and equation-of-motion coupled-cluster models. In addition to the QM/EFP functionality, a fragment-only feature is also available (when the system is described by effective fragments only). To aid further developments of the EFP methodology, a detailed description of the C++ classes and EFP module's workflow is presented. The EFP input structure and EFP job options are described. To assist setting up and performing EFP calculations, a collection of Perl service scripts is provided. The precomputed EFP parameters for standard fragments such as common solvents are stored in Q-CHEM's auxiliary library;they can be easily invoked, similar to specifying standard basis sets. The instructions for generating user-defined EFP parameters are given. Fragments positions can be specified by their center of mass coordinates and Euler angles. The interface with the IQMOL and WEBMO software is also described. (c) 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Modern mobile devices are sufficiently powerful to execute computationally intensive mathematical problems. This study presents an implementation of a two-dimensional transmission line matrix method (TLM) solver executing on a Smartphone. Software development and architectural design are discussed, focusing on object-oriented strategies for modular and reusable code. Optimisation strategies are also discussed, with large variations in performance observed dependent on the data-caching method that is used. Swapping between data buffers using pointers was shown to be the most effective method, offering significant performance gains over the original software. It was shown for a mesh measuring 246 by 370 nodes running on an iPhone 4 that an update rate of 9.37 fps could be achieved.

We show that hardware implementation of digital filters is accompanied by the problem connected with using a finite number of bits for representing coefficients, input data and interim results. This problem leads to the deterioration of magnitude response and computation accuracy. We provide grounds for using modular coding in digital filters in order to exclude errors caused by finite capacity when computing output samples. Thus, it becomes possible to meet the requirements to computational accuracy and magnitude response without increasing hardware costs and computation time.

SPARCRequest(C) (Services, Pricing, & Application for Research Centers) is a web-based research management system that provides a modular and adaptable "electronic storefront" for research-related services. Developed by the South Carolina Clinical & Translational Research Institute at the Medical University of South Carolina, it was released as open source (OS) code in 2014. The adoption of SPARCRequest(C) accelerated in 2016, when, to ensure responsiveness to the needs of partners, its governance also became open. This governance model enables OS partners to suggest and prioritize features for new releases. As a result, the software code has become more modularized and can be easily customized to meet the diverse needs of adopting hubs. This article describes innovative aspects of the OS governance model, including a multi-institutional committee structure to set strategic vision, make operational decisions, and develop technical solutions;a virtual roadmap that ensures transparency and aligns adopters with release-based goals;and a business process model that provides a robust voting mechanism for prioritizing new features while also enabling fast-paced bug fixes. OS software evolves best in open governance environments. OS governance has made SPARCRequest(C) more responsive to user needs, attracted more adopters, and increased the proportion of code contributed by adopters.
