Research on geospatial technology optimization based on GeoAI multi-objective optimization

This research focuses on the key technologies of network-based collaboration for Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) services. This paper proposes a geospatial technology model based on GeoAI multi-objective optimization to address the challenges of multi-source heterogeneous models and services in collecting, processing, and analyzing geospatial coverage information. This technology constructs geospatial coverage processing services through programmatic encapsulation and model service methods. At the same time, a service class publishing method based on OGC standards was designed. Secondly, this article adopts a capacity modeling approach to cover and transfer geographic spatial coverage models, solving the problems of model utilization and massive data transmission. Mapping network processing services to REST through logical design, providing support for heterogeneous style geographic coverage processing service interactions for sharing and utilization. A geographic spatial prototype system was designed in the study, and the effectiveness of the proposed method was verified through experiments. The development of this study is of great significance for promoting the mutual collaboration of multi-source heterogeneous models and achieving effective utilization and sharing of geographic spatial resources.

multi-objective geometric optimization of a PCM based matrix type composite heat sink

This paper reports the results of a numerical optimization and experimental investigation of phase change material (PCM) based composite pin fin matrix heat sink. The main objective of this study is to determine the optimized configuration of the matrix type heat sink that will stretch the operation time during the heating cycle and minimize the time during the discharging cycle. The PCM used is n-eicosane. The heat sink is made of aluminium. A constant heat flux of 1.9 kW/m(2) is applied at the bottom of the heat sink. The numerical results were matched up with the experimental results to determine the overall heat transfer coefficient with the help of commercially available ANSYS FLUENT 14.0 software. For constant power level and constant volume of the PCM, 40 different geometrical configurations of heat sinks were considered and temperature time histories were obtained for both the charging and discharging cycles by using full three dimensional simulations of flow and conjugate heat transfer including phase change using FLUENT 14.0. The output of these simulations was given as an input to a neural network and a multi objective optimization was carried out to determine the optimum configuration of the heat sink, that maximizes the charging period and minimizes the discharging period simultaneously. Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to optimize the process parameters to obtain the best dimensional accuracy, surface finish and hardness of the castings produced by using fused deposition modeling ( FDM)-based patterns in investment casting ( IC). Design/methodology/approach - In this paper, hip implants have been prepared by using plastic patterns in IC process. Taguchi design of experiments has been used to study the effect of six different input process parameters on the dimensional deviation, surface roughness and hardness of the implants. Analysis of variance has been used to find the effect of each input factor on the output. multi-objective optimization has been done to find the combined best values of output. Findings - The results proved that the FDM patterns can be used successfully in IC. A wax coating on the FDM patterns improves the surface finish and dimensional accuracy. The improved dimensional accuracy, surface finish and hardness have been achieved simultaneously through multi-objective optimization. Research limitations/implications - A thin layer of wax is used on the plastic patterns. The effect of thickness of the layer has not been considered. Further research is needed to study the effect of the thickness of the wax layer. Practical implications - The results obtained by the study would be helpful in making decisions regarding machining and/or coating on the parts produced by this process. Originality/value - In this paper, multi-objective optimization of dimensional accuracy, surface roughness and hardness of hybrid investment cast components has been performed.

multi-objective optimization of porous foam structure to enhance energy performance of flat plate solar collectors

Flat plate solar collectors are extensively used in buildings, however due to excessive heat losses, these collectors are not efficient. Metal foams can enhance the thermal efficiency in expense of higher pumping power. A numerical simulation is carried out to investigate the influence of geometrical characteristics of porous medium on the pressure drop and heat transfer. An innovative design with gradually increasing or decreasing height is proposed. Porous block consists of three smaller blocks, two rectangular blocks at the inlet and outlet connected with a trapezoidal block. Non-dimensional height and length of the rectangular blocks vary between 0.2-0.6 and 0.1-0.9 respectively, and the optimum geometry of the porous block is proposed. Central composite design is conducted to find an optimum geometrical design and 25 design points have been investigated. The main target of this optimization is the simultaneous increment of Nusselt and decrement of pressure drop. Results demonstrate that porous block with non-dimensional inlet and outlet height of 0.9 and 0.5 and inlet and outlet length of 0.4 and 0.4 respectively, result in the highest Nu (= 15.2). Comparing the optimal results with those of a conventional rectangular porous block with constant height of 0.9 represents that in the optimum design Nu is only 7.23% less than that of the conventional design, while, pressure drop is improved up to 38.46% in the proposed geometrical design. Additionally, response surface methodology has been carried out and results have been reported in response surface plots.

Improving FEM model of low immersion milling process using multi-objective optimization of tool elastic support dynamic properties

The accurate prediction of tool displacement on elastic support is always considered a crucial problem in metal cutting process simulation. Static and dynamic properties of a machine tool structure which are the function of boundary conditions of a tool-tool holder, modal parameters of an end mill, and interface of cutting edge with a workpiece can affect the displacement of the end mill. In this paper, the receptance coupling substructure analysis (RCSA) and multi-objective optimization algorithm, NSGA-II, are combined to determine the elastic support properties. The investigated effective parameters include the tool-tool holder contact length, clamping torque, and the tool length ratio to diameter. In order to evaluate the accuracy of results and simulate the low immersion end milling process, a novel FEM model is created in which the constant stiffness and damping have a linear relationship along the elastic support. The frequency response function-obtained FEM models have good accordance with experimental data. Using this model and linking the FEM model with MATLAB software, cutting forces and tool displacements are simulated. The accuracy of the suggested method is evaluated by simulating two case studies based on different cutting conditions. Comparison between simulation and experimental results indicates that the suggested model can precisely predict the cutting force and tool displacement. The proposed model can be used to simulate the milling processes for various tool boundary conditions in forced and free vibration states, and the consumed time for simulation of process is significantly reduced.

In this study Castigliano s second theorem is applied to predict the force and moment system produced by orthodontics T-spring The developed analytical formulas include all spring design parameters (material geometrical shape and wire cross section type and position of spring end mounting system and direction and magnitude of the activation forces) The analytical results are compared with those obtained by nonlinear finite element formulation with nonlinear capabilities as a large deflection and showed an acceptable agreement for the current application The reliability of the proposed model is successfully tested to predict the effect of some design parameters on spring stiffness The developed analytic force system formulas are used as an objective function for solving a multi objective optimization problem to produce the required force and moment at spring ends A new genetic algorithm scheme is developed to obtain optimal spring design parameters according to design objectives and constraints The results show that depending on the above methodology we can make a good estimation of the required design parameters of the T-spring for a specific application

Comparative study of the optimal operation of methane reforming process in cylindrical and spherical reactors using multi-objective optimization

We present a multi-objective optimization (MOO) based study of the optimal operation of methane reformer for spherical reactor and compare the results with the ones for the cylindrical reactor. We considered three objective functions for this comparative study, namely maximization of hydrogen production, minimization of carbon dioxide emission, and minimization of power loss due to pressure drop in the reactor. We solve four MOO problems, which include three 2-objective problems with each pair of the aforementioned three objectives. In addition, we also solve a three objective problem considering all the three objectives. The optimization variables considered for the MOO study correspond to the feed conditions. Specifically, the three variables include the inlet temperature and the molar feed ratios of oxygen to methane & steam to methane. (C) 2020 Hydrogen Energy Publications LLC. Electric vehicle is the key technology to tackle the issue of energy and emissions, a great number of EVs connected to the grid will negatively impact on the economic operation of the grid. Based on the statistics of electric vehicle travel rules, this paper used NSGA-II multi-objective optimization algorithm to establish a regional electricity price model. The goal is to reduce the peak load through electricity consumption time and ensure the interests of operators, The effectiveness of the algorithm is verified by an example of a certain area in Shandong Province. The algorithm did not change the space-time distribution of existing charging stations, and only used the regional electricity price to adjust the charging load of electric vehicles, which has high practical significance. A wide range of problems arising from real world applications present multiple and conflicting objectives to be simultaneously optimized. However, this multi-objective nature is too often neglected. multiobjective optimization proved to be a powerful tool to correctly describe the trade-offs among conflicting objectives in a set of optimal solutions known as the Pareto set. This paper introduces an interactive method to solve multi-objective problems based on geometric considerations. The method returns a wider Pareto set, at a negligible computational cost, when compared to existing methods. The interactivity also allows the decision-maker to explore only relevant parts of the Pareto set. The extreme solutions yield insightful considerations on the generation of the scalarization parameters for the Normal Boundary Intersection and the Enhanced Normalized Normal Constraints methods. The proposed method is applied to: (i) three scalar multi-objective problems and (ii) the multi-objective optimal control of a tubular and a fed-batch reactor. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd.
