In the last time important results in multiobjectiveprogramming involving type-I functions were obtained (Yuan et al. in: Konnov et al. (eds) Lecture notes in economics and mathematical systems, 2007;Mishra et al. An Univ Bucure angstrom ti Ser Mat, LII(2): 207-224, 2003). Following one of these ways, we study optimality conditions and generalized Mond-Weir duality for multiobjectiveprogramming involving n-set functions which satisfy appropriate generalized univexity V-type-I conditions. We introduce classes of functions called (rho, rho')-V-univex type-I, (rho, rho')-quasi V-univex type-I, (rho, rho')-pseudo V-univex type-I, (rho, rho')-quasi pseudo V-univex type-I, and (rho, rho')-pseudo quasi V-univex type-I. Finally, a general frame for constructing functions of these classes is considered.

The main thrust of this study is the operational scheduling of the continuous coal handling and blending processes when considering multiple, and sometimes conflicting, objectives. A widely applicable generic goal programming model is proposed. Furthermore, assumptions regarding the certainty of demand during different periods are challenged, endeavoring to provide more robust schedules in a largely stochastic environment. As the study aims to provide scheduling solutions to any coal handling facility, the Simulated Annealing metaheuristic is proposed to ensure that acceptably good solutions for large instances of the generic model can be found in reasonable computational time. The generic approach and its suggested application will be valuable not only in the coal handling environment, but also in the continuous product manufacturing/blending or continuous material handling environment.

This paper presents a stochastic model for optimal generating units' restoration planning. Restoration plans will be performed based on different objectives i.e. total system risk, total served energy in the period of restoration, and total restoration time. The proposed model is a multiobjective stochastic program in which generating units' restoration plan is assumed to optimize different kinds of objective function. The proposed approach to the optimal restoration of generating units can be used by vertically integrated utilities as well as the ISOs in electricity markets. The approach coordinates the optimal start up of generating units within the restoration period. Physical constraints of generating units and power system restoration constraints are taken into account. The proposed approach highlights a trade-off between different objectives of power system restoration. A simple system is used for detailed analyses and simulation results exhibit the effectiveness of the proposed restoration approach.

Due to increasing environmental consciousness in most countries, every utility that owns a commercial nuclear power plant has been required to have both an on-site and off-site emergency response plan since the 1980s. A radiation monitoring network, viewed as part of the emergency response plan, can provide information regarding the radiation dosage emitted from a nuclear power plant in a regular operational period and/or abnormal measurements in an emergency event. Such monitoring information might help field operators and decision-makers to provide accurate responses or make decisions to protect the public health and safety. This study aims to conduct an integrated simulation and optimization analysis looking for the relocation strategy of a long-term regular off-site monitoring network at a nuclear power plant. The planning goal is to downsize the current monitoring network but maintain its monitoring capacity as much as possible. The monitoring sensors considered in this study include the thermoluminescence dosimetry (TLD) and air sampling system (AP) simultaneously. It is designed for detecting the radionuclide accumulative concentration, the frequency of violation, and the possible population affected by a long-term impact in the surrounding area regularly while it can also be used in an accidental release event. With the aid of the calibrated Industrial Source Complex-Plume Rise Model Enhancements (ISC-PRIME) simulation model to track down the possible radionuclide diffusion, dispersion, transport, and transformation process in the atmospheric environment, a multiobjective evaluation process can be applied to achieve the screening of monitoring stations for the nuclear power plant located at Hengchun Peninsula, South Taiwan. The paper introduces and analyzes the bandwidth allocation process over space communication systems, corrupted by rain fading, in presence of Quality of Service (QoS) constraints. To reach the aim, the work proposes two schemes both aimed at assigning the bandwidth, among earth stations, so to approach the ideal situation as close as possible and at guaranteeing a fixed performance for each traffic flow traversing the space network. The mathematical framework of the paper is the multi-objectiveprogramming (MOP) theory and the reference allocation scheme considered is called "Minimum Distance" algorithm. The performance evaluation is carried out analytically by varying the fading level of the channel and considering TCP traffic sources.

This paper describes a fuzzy system designed to support production planning in an industrial unit producing cardboard boxes. In this industrial unit, orders for n boxes of width w, length l, height h, made of q layers of type k paper for delivery in t units of time are produced. In the production of such orders apart from meeting the orders specifications, it is usually tried to minimize the margin trim loss, the number of machine setups and the holding cost of the finished orders. Considering the dynamism of production systems that are influenced by such factors as market demand fluctuations, changes in commercial priorities, raw material availability and production capabilities, we solve this multi-objective problem by fuzzy set theory.
