Thermal processing systems that incorporate temperature control are needed in order to achieve high-quality and high-performance processing. In the present paper, in response to the demand for proper transient responses and in order to provide more closely controlled temperatures, a novel multi-point temperature control method based on the slow response mode is proposed. In the proposed method, the temperature differences and transient characteristics of all points can be controlled by making the output of other modes follow the output of the slow mode. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated through simulations.

multirate feedforward control is widely used for the control of precise systems such as the high-precision stages and the hard disk drives. In the multirate feedforward control, it is possible to obtain a control input that achieves perfect tracking for the state trajectory. Therefore, it is necessary to generate a state trajectory corresponding to the output trajectory in advance. In this paper, the authors propose a state trajectory generation from an output trajectory for a multi-input multi-output system using singular value decomposition. The effectiveness of this method is verified through simulation and experiments.

In this study, a multiport isolated DC-DC converter is proposed for charging of plug-in electric vehicles, which can interface among the photovoltaic (PV) systems, vehicle batteries, and power grid. The proposed converter is dual-output, and vehicle batteries can charge from both PV systems and grid simultaneously or separately. Moreover, the converter is bidirectional, capable of delivering power from vehicle batteries to grid by using the half-bridge CLLLC resonant topology with less switching devices. Furthermore, a unified multi-input multi-output (MIMO) controller is used for control of converter. The main topology, operating scenarios, and control system of converter are presented. To validate the performance of the converter, the system is simulated by MATLAB/Simulink software and results are illustrated to prove the controller accuracy during different operation modes.

This paper proposes the use of the least square support vector machine (LS-SVM) algorithm to model an elastic robotic arm. Dynamic system modeling is important as the first step in obtaining a suitable controller for any system. Acquiring an accurate model of elastic robotic based on input-output measurements using the LS-SVM algorithm requires less knowledge about the physical-laws of the system. The LS-SVM algorithm achieves global, unique solution, and requires less training time compared with other soft computing algorithms. In this paper, a successful use of the LS-SVM algorithm to model the elastic robotic arm as multi-input multi-output system is demonstrated. The simulation results illustrate the efficiency and high performance of the proposed approach.

To apply model predictive control (MPC) to autonomous vehicle, certain compromise has to be made. To avoid this, we propose a nonlinear MPC (NMPC) controller, controlling vehicle velocity and steering simultaneously. The optimization solver is based on genetic algorithms, which provides a flexible structure to design the cost function and constraints in a more accurate and straightforward way. On-field tests howed the NMPC can control the vehicle to follow the road accurately and consistently. Moreover, passengers' safety and comfort were well taken care of as both the vehicle movement and steering accelerations are confined explicitly in the N MPC constraints.

This paper studies the multi-objective control design problem for the aero-engines. A novel switching control strategy is proposed to achieve the trade-off between safety and response performance for aero-engines. multiple control inputs are considered simultaneously to make full use of potential of the engine. Control design thus becomes complicated. Applying the descriptor linear system theory and the linear quadratic regulator technique, we design the safety protection controllers for the limited outputs. Simulation results of a two-spool turbofan aero-engine verify the effectiveness of the proposed switching control strategy, and indicate that the proposed scheme brings improvement on both safety and transient performance.

The paper concerns the problem of adaptive compensation of unmatched disturbances in linear time-invariant (LTI) multi-input multi-output (MIMO) unstable plants with multiple distinct input delays. The external disturbances affect both the input and the output of the plant and are represented by multi-harmonic signals with unknown parameters (frequencies, phases, and amplitudes). The paper extends results of the paper Nikiforov et al. (2021) on adaptive compensation of unmatched disturbances to the case of distinct input delays. To overcome the problem of multiple distinct input delays, a special scheme of the disturbance prediction is proposed and used for design of the adaptive control *** (c) 2023 The Authors.

To study the dynamic characteristics of 3-DOF experimental teaching helicopter model , the mathematical model of small-sized 3-DOF helicopter system is set up. The movement of helicopter includes three parts of elevation ax-is, pitch axis and travel axis, and their dynamic functions are set up. To solve the hovering control problem, a model-reference adaptive control system is designed based on Lyapunov stability theory. Simulation results show the designed control system can satisfy the dynamic and steady properties , and provide a reference for designing other control systems.

In this paper, a hyper-plane sliding mode controller (SMC) is presented for regulate of dc-link voltage of the grid-connected Zeta converter along with control of ac current of the grid. To unified analyze of the system, averaged state- space model of the grid-connected Zeta converter is presented. Although from point of structure view, the system is seen as a single-input single-output system, based on control strategy, it is a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system. Due to nonlinear characteristic of the converter and unstable-zero dynamic problem which lead to non-minimum phase of the capacitor voltages, hyper-plane SMC is used to indirect regulate of the dc-link voltage by inductors' currents. Therefore, by considering the nonlinear operation of the system, a two-stages controller based on unified model of the system is designed to insure the converter stability in wide range of output variables. To validate the performance of the presented controller, the system is simulated by MATLAB/Simulink software and results are shown to prove the controller accuracy.

In the paper the twofold problem of stabilization and output adaptive tracking is addressed for the class of multi-input multi-output (MIMO) linear time-invariant (LTI) unstable plants with known parameters, unmeasurable state, and known distinct input delays. The reference is represented by the vector of multi-harmonic time functions and is generated by an autonomous linear dynamic model (exosystem) with known order but unknown parameters. The amplitudes, phase shifts, and frequencies of the harmonics of these functions are unknown. The solution proposed is based on a robust predictor-feedback stabilizing control law, suitable parameterization of the tracking error, special implementation of the augmented error scheme, and direct adaptation algorithm providing asymptotic tracking without identification of the exosystem parameters. The stabilizing part of control palliates negative influence of distinct input delays. Regardless of the values of input delays, the adaptive control law designed ensures boundedness of all signals in the closed-loop system and drives the tracking error to zero.
