Water shortage emerges and restricts the urban construction and the social-development due to the rapid expansion of the cities. Recent research mainly focuses on the water resources management or water distribution network management separately. In this paper, a joint optimal model for water allocation and water distribution network management is developed. In the first phase, a multi-objectives linearprogramming is used for the optimal allocation on multi-water resources for multi-users, in which cost and water conservation are regards as objectives. In the second phase, a non-linear model is proposed, which is solved by single-objective GA linking to EPANET hydraulic solver. The result of the first phase is a parameter of the objective in the second phase.

Paddy circular economic system, edible fungus economic system and dry land economic system constitute of the typical circular agricultural system. In the process of developing the circular economy, it is necessary to build a mathematical model to optimize the circular production of the system both on economic and ecological benefits. Based on building a multi-objective linear programming model of the typical circular agricultural system, this paper get some significant results and conclusion combining with genetic algorithm. The conclusions show that comprehensive utilization the agricultural wastes can bring huge economic and ecological benefits.

In many existing applications of possibilistic linearprogramming (PLP) model, the decision makers (DM) are asked to specify the positive ideal solution (PIS) and negative ideal solution (NIS) for defining the linear membership function proposed by Zimmermann. In practice, this is a real difficulty for an ordinary DM without possessing acute sense of arithmetic operation and adequate comprehension of PLP model. Furthermore, this task is obviously subjective and will influence the search route of the solution process via the linear membership functions. This study provides an objective method to specify appropriate PIS and NIS for defining efficient linear membership functions so as to rapidly approach a better compromise solution, and also presents a simple way for further improvement of the compromise solution to reach a satisfactory solution. The proposed approaches aim to facilitate the decision making process and promote computational efficiency as well as improve the compromise solution for the PLP method. Additionally, an integrated production/transportation planning decision (PTPD) problem is used to demonstrate the feasibility of applying the proposed methods to real industrial case. Not only the simplicity and objectivity in specifying PIS and NIS but also the computational efficiency, the results of this study show definite advantage of the proposed methods in solving PLP problem.

Purpose The study attempts to develop a multi-product multi-period (MPMP) aggregate production plan (APP) to fulfill the customers' demand in terms of throughput and lead time for achieving market competence. Design/methodology/approach This research proposes an integrated Fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP), multi-objective linear programming (MOLP), and simulation approach. Initially, FAHP is used to select the essential objectives a firm desires to achieve. Adopting the MOLP, an APP is formulated for the firm under study. Later, the simulation model of a firm is created in a discrete-event simulation (DES) software Arena (c) to evaluate the applicability of the proposed APP. A comparative analysis of the manufacturing performance levels (namely throughput, lead time, and resource utilization) achieved through the implication of an existing production plan and proposed APP is conducted further. Findings The findings from the study depict that the proposed MOLP-based APP can satisfy the customers' requirement (namely throughput and lead time) and improve the level of resource utilization compared with the firm's existing production plan. Research limitations/implications The proposed research facilitates researchers and practitioners to understand the process of developing MOLP-based MPMP APP and analyzing its applicability through simulation technique to be utilized for developing APP at their firm. Originality/value An integrated FAHP-MOLP-simulation framework is the novel contribution to the literature on production planning. It can be extended to solve strategic, tactical, and operational problems in different domains like service, healthcare, supply chain, logistics, and project management.

Based on the multi-objectivelinear weighted method and the characteristic that the sum of the weighted coefficients of the bi-objective function is 1, a weighted iteration algorithm for solving bi-objectivelinear optimization has been proposed. The basic principle of the algorithm is that when the weighted coefficients increase gradually from a very small value to 1, an efficient solution can be obtained. The iteration algorithm needs convergence conditions. This paper proves the relationship between the iterative convergence conditions and the optimal solution of the objective function, and multiple efficient solutions can be obtained by iteration. According to the actual demand of the project, a method of determining the most efficient solution is given. The main advantage of the algorithm is that the implementation process of the weighted iteration algorithm only needs the optimal solution of a single objective function, and there is no complex process or algorithm for solving weighted coefficients. The algorithm is simple and effective, and overcomes the shortcomings of the existing algorithms that have the complex parameter setting and solving process. The examples and application show that the weighted iteration algorithm is scientific and correct, and it is easy to be used and programmed and can play an important role in practical engineering application.

A multi-objective linear programming model was proposed and solved by the fuzzy mathematics. Meanwhile by the application of the model based on the example of EHDC procurement, the distribution result kept with the purchasing intention of the owner. South Korea's successful reforestation efforts over the past 50 years have led to abundant forest resources. However, intensive reforestation during the 1970s and 1980s skewed the forests' age distribution towards forest stands aged 30 years or older, which results in an unbalanced distribution of age-class, requiring redistribution with harvest and effective regeneration plans to produce a sustained yield of timber as well as long term ecological benefits. During this conversion process, variations in timber production can occur, causing economic and ecological risks if excessive. To prevent these likely risks, permissible levels of increase and decrease in timber production can be restricted in the planning phase. In determining the appropriate variation rate in timber production, it is necessary to understand the impacts of variation in timber production on forest management. This study performed a sensitivity analysis to evaluate the economic and ecological impacts of constraining the period-to-period variation in timber production. A multi-objective linear programming (MOLP) forest management planning model was utilized to study forests in Mt. Gari, South Korea. Nine management alternatives were set with different levels of variation rate in timber production and further constraints. The total volume and net present value (NPV) of timber production, carbon storage, and water storage were analyzed for each alternative. As timber production variation rates decreased, the amount of timber production increased and forest carbon storage decreased;furthermore, NPV diminished as variation constraints strengthened. These differences were mainly caused by selection of regeneration species according to the constraint on variation in timber production. With the continuous development for the straw utilization industry, studying the sustainability of different straw utilization industries and the realization of the optimal distribution of regional straw utilization industries has become an important issue. This paper studied the straw utilization industry in Shandong through field investigation and literature research, and comprehensively evaluated these industries through emergy analysis. Results showed that the emergy-based sustainability indexes (ESI) of straw biogas (SBP) and feed productions (SFP) are both high, 1.61 and 1.49 respectively, which should be encouraged. ESIs of straw-based particleboard (SBPP) and straw-bioethanol production (SP) are low, 0.61 and 0.54 respectively, which should be restricted, and other ways could be developed appropriately. Moreover, a methodology combining emergy analysis and multi-objectiveprogramming was constructed to solve optimization of regional straw comprehensive utilization scheme. The results suggested that if the main goal was to improve the regional economy, the proportion of straw returning to the field (SRF) should be reduced and that of the SBP should be increased. If the environmental impact was the main optimization goal, then SRF should be the main straw treatment method. Furthermore, to avoid adverse effects on environmental benefits and sustainable development, it was recommended that more attention should be paid to avoid blindly pursuing the increase in the scale of straw utilization.
