For the upcoming 5G systems and beyond (5G/B5G), the multicast broadcast services (5G-MBS) capability is one of the most appealing use cases. The effective integration of Point-to-Multipoint (PTM) communication will address the ever-growing traffic demands, disruptive enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) multimedia services, massive connectivity, and low latency applications. In such context, the envisaged multicast resource management solutions can take advantage of the radio access technology (RAT) Device-to-Device (D2D) communications to extend the service area, handle the multi-user diversity, improve the overall quality of service (QoS) and manage overload situations at the base stations. This work aims to study the advantage of using in-band D2D communications as a multicast relay for improving the network performance of 5 G -MBS use cases. We evaluate the multicast access technique Conventional multicast Scheme (CMS) and K-Means subgrouping based on Orthogonal Multiple Access (OMA), leveraging in-band D2D communications to enhance its resource efficiency and QoS. Linklevel simulations recreating specific MBS use cases are used to assess the proposal’s efficacy. As validation criteria, we assess the system aggregated data rate (ADR), proportional fairness (PF), and the minimum dissatisfaction index (MDI), considering various constraints associated with multimedia services, available resources, and number of users.

The XRP Ledger relies on a trusted set of validator nodes to advance the ledger history. Nodes use flood-based broad-casting to disseminate messages. Flooding offers strong message delivery guarantees at the cost of high network utilisation caused by duplicate messages. In this paper, we present pemcast, an application layer algorithm for efficient one-to-many message routing. The algorithm leverages limited topology awareness and application layer multi-casting to deliver messages in the network. The evaluation shows that compared to flooding and gossiping algorithms, pemcast can maintain similar reliability whilst generating significantly less redundant traffic.

As edge computing capabilities increase, model learning deployments in diverse edge environments have emerged. In experimental design networks, introduced recently, network routing and rate allocation are designed to aid the transfer of data from sensors to heterogeneous learners. We design efficient experimental design network algorithms that are (a) distributed and (b) use multicast transmissions. This setting poses significant challenges as classic decentralization approaches often operate on (strictly) concave objectives under differentiable constraints. In contrast, the problem we study here has a non-convex, continuous DR-submodular objective, while multicast transmissions naturally result in non-differentiable constraints. From a technical standpoint, we propose a distributed Frank-Wolfe and a distributed projected gradient ascent algorithm that, coupled with a relaxation of non-differentiable constraints, yield allocations within a 1 − 1/e factor from the optimal. Numerical evaluations show that our proposed algorithms outperform competitors with respect to model learning quality.

Physical layer multicasting is an efficient transmission technique that exploits the beamforming potential at the transmitting nodes and the broadcast nature of the wireless channel, together with the demand for the same content from several UEs. This paper addresses the max-min fair multigroup multicast beamforming optimization, which is an NP-hard problem. We propose a novel iterative elimination procedure coupled with semidefinite relaxation (SDR) to find the near-global optimum rank-1 beamforming vectors in a cell-free massive MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) network setup. The proposed optimization procedure shows significant improvements in computational complexity and spectral efficiency performance compared to the SDR followed by the commonly used randomization procedure and the state-of-the-art difference-of-convex approximation algorithm. The significance of the proposed procedure is that it can be utilized as a rank reduction method for any problem in conjunction with SDR.

This work presents an approach to optimize the network and reduce the congestion within a chip. It involves using NVIDIA Simba architecture as reference for Processing Element (PE). Increasing complexity within the development of multicore processors increases the need for optimization within Network-on-Chip architectures to achieve high performance in modern computing. This paper also presents the strategies in addressing major issues related to latency, and scalability in NoC systems. It concerns methods like Based Routing Conformed Paths, which improves efficiency in multicasting, the Forward & Absorb multicast method, which resolves deadlock issues related to the interaction between multicast and unicast traffic and the U-mesh algorithm used in the Advanced Hierarchical scheme, which supports efficient cycles and traffic management to further contribute to NoC performance. The proposed system involves using python script, GUI interface to generate Verilog code for the routing table in 2D 4x5 mesh network. The Leaders (L1 & L2) are selected based on U-mesh to route the data. The comparative analysis between the two algorithms are conducted and the simulation waveforms are shown. This paper explores a wide spectrum of technologies like semiconductor technology to high performance computing and consumer electronics, in general with implications for aerospace, space and defense applications.

Satellite networks are a promising way to provide ubiquitous access to network service. However, due to the mobility of satellites, the traditional routing scheme cannot be adapted to the constellation directly. This paper studies the challenge of multicast routing on satellite networks. The mobility of satellites makes the serving satellites of ground users change with time. When performing a multicast on the constellation, the changing of serving satellites leads to many link handover control messages. To minimize the control message overhead is NP-hard. Therefore, a dynamic programming-based algorithm called Dynamic multicast Tree Selection (DMTS) is proposed to find the sub-optimal result with polynomial time complexity. Besides, we proposed a tree generation algorithm called LMBBSP with DMTS to avoid link congestion in unbalanced network load. The simulation results show that our proposed schemes outperform the baselines with link handover and request rejection rate.

In this paper, the problem of maximizing the sum rate of all users in an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-assisted millimeter wave multicast multiple-input multiple-output communication system is studied. In the considered model, one IRS is deployed to assist the communication from a multi-antenna base station (BS) to the multi-antenna users that are clustered into several groups. Our goal is to maximize the sum rate of all users by jointly optimizing the transmit beamforming matrices of the BS, the receive beamforming matrices of the users, and the phase shifts of the IRS. To solve this non-convex problem, we first use a block diagonalization method to represent the beamforming matrices of the BS and the users by the phase shifts of the IRS. Then, substituting the expressions of the beamforming matrices of the BS and the users, the original sum-rate maximization problem can be transformed into a problem that only needs to optimize the phase shifts of the IRS. To solve the transformed problem, a manifold method is used. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can achieve up to 13.3 % gain in terms of the sum rate of all users compared to the algorithm that optimizes the hybrid beamforming matrices of the BS and the users using our proposed scheme and randomly determines the phase shifts of the IRS.

A severe existential danger to agriculture is being posed by extreme weather patterns and falling forests, which require an evolution of current agricultural systems. Traditional agriculture can become smart agriculture with the aid of the Internet of Things. Sensor-based monitoring systems for agriculture can benefit farmers in the long run. A network of physical things called the “Internet of Things” uses networking and sensors to enhance data collecting and exchange. IoT networks, which are less expensive and use less energy, can be distributed over a large population region. We propose an energy-efficient, low-cost wireless network for smart agriculture in this article. Our paper aims to develop a new hybrid topology that is both stable and scalable; additionally, nodes will self-conFigure to form the topology without the need for manual interference. In order to connect to the Internet, we used NodeMCU, a system-on-chip (SOC) that combines a Tensilica L106 32-bit micro controller unit with a Wi-Fi transceiver. By implementing UPnP for our NodeMCUs linked with a tree topology Wi-Fi mesh, we were able to build a multicast tree algorithm. These NodeMCUs will self-discover via SSDP (Simple Service Discovery Protocol), sending a NOTIFY request to the multicast IP on the link, and the master node will determine the position. The mechanism underlying automatic topology forming and node configuration is explored in depth in this paper. This algorithm and topology enables energy efficient and easy to implement sensor networks, which can help in better collection of data, in turn help farmers take informed decisions.

The aim of Neural Network Flow control for ABR (Available Bit Rate) services in Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) Networks is to develop an efficient rate control mechanism to address the real-time transport (RTT) variation of RM-Cell caused by the dynamic drift of the bottleneck in a multicast tree. By optimizing rate control, we seek to mitigate the impact of RTT variations on network performance. Additionally, our focus includes enhancing buffer occupancy to improve throughput. This involves implementing a rate control system based on neural networks (NN), leveraging their adaptive capabilities to adjust transmission rates in response to network conditions dynamically. Through this project, we aim to achieve more stable and reliable data transmission within multicast tree networks, ultimately enhancing overall network efficiency and performance. The potential impact of this research is significant, inspiring further exploration and development in the field.

The Time Sensitive Network (TSN) based on Ethernet extends standard Ethernet into a deterministic network with real-time functionality through a series of sub standards. This paper designs a mathematical model using array theory, which transforms the gate control mechanism into an array of window opening and closing events while retaining the original model, making it applicable to the general situation of TSN networks (multiple frames per stream, multicast streams). In addition, based on the preprocessing algorithm proposed in this paper for synthesizing link sequences, a multi-objective heuristic optimization offline scheduling algorithm based on SMT was designed to schedule each link with the shortest GCL length and the smallest number of occupied queues. This algorithm has the ability to solve in polynomial time and reserves more time and space resources for the network. The performance evaluation using the Z3 solver shows that the optimized algorithm has significantly improved performance compared to the original algorithm.
