Underwater acoustic network plays an important role in various operations in the marine environment. It is very necessary to design a routing protocol that can adapt to the underwater environment with high time-varying and Doppler frequency shift. In this paper, we present a dynamic forward hybrid routing algorithm based on the small node group (SG-DFHR), to achieve a higher packet delivery ratio and lower energy consumption. The working process of SG-DFHR can be mainly divided into two stages. First, the randomly deployed underwater nodes are divided into several groups comprised of three nodes, which respectively serve as the master, secondary and ordinary node. Then a hybrid routing strategy is implemented for multi-hop transmission. In which, the master node uses the multicast for data packet transmission, while the rest nodes use the unicast method. Furthermore, in order to adapt to the dynamic changes of underwater network, we design a node group inspect and update strategy. The simulation and theoretical analysis show that our algorithm has superior performance over the ALRP, DCK-S-BEAR and SUN. Compared with the previous algorithms, under the premise of no significant increase in delay, the energy consumption and packet delivery performances of SG-DFHR are significantly improved. SG-DFHR achieves effective tradeoff among multiple performance metrics.

The unprecedented growth of mobile data traffic has fueled the deployment of intelligence applications at the network edge, while distilling the intelligence from raw data by supervised learning requires tremendous labelling effort. To overcome this challenge, wireless crowd labelling (WCL) is proposed for efficient data labelling by exploiting billions of available mobile annotators and the multicasting property of wireless channels. A WCL system is considered in this paper where unlabelled data (objects) are multicast to different clusters of annotators for repeated labelling to improve accuracy. Given the number of objects to be labelled with the required accuracy, the annotator clustering and multicast power control are jointly optimized for energy consumption minimization, leading to a challenging combinatorial problem. An efficient algorithm is designed to derive the optimal solutions based on tree search and examined by the simulations.

High-performance multicast-enabled switches and routers are being constantly developed, which use a polynomial-time group membership query algorithm within the Packet Forwarding Engines (PFEs) to determine whether or not a packet is forwarded through a unique or multiple egress ports. Among these, Bloom filter (BF) and Scalar-pair Vectors Routing and Forwarding (SVRF) are being considered as two representations of the membership query algorithms. However, both approaches suffer from some fatal weaknesses such as space and time inefficiencies, especially for a carrier-grade PFE with high port-density feature. In order to solve these imperfections of SVRF, we propose an improved Fractional-N Scalar-matrix and Vectors Routing and Forwarding (Fractional-N SVRF) scheme based on re-examining the idea of the original SVRF. The Fractional-N SVRF preprocesses a scalar-matrix by dividing an n-element group into N-columns (sub-blocks), thus element' keys belonging to distinct sub-blocks and sub-scalars are allowed to reuse relatively smaller identical prime keys. Based on Fractional-N SVRF, membership queries can be partitioned to leverage task parallelism, therefore better performance is achieved in terms of memory consumption and computational complexity.

We consider globally optimal precoder design for rate splitting multiple access in Gaussian multiple-input single-output downlink channels with respect to weighted sum rate and energy efficiency maximization. The proposed algorithm solves an instance of the joint multicast and unicast beamforming problem and includes multicast-and unicast-only beamforming as special cases. Numerical results show that it outperforms state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of numerical stability and converges almost twice as fast.

Clustering routing algorithm is an important part of network layer in Ad Hoc networks. Its main goal is to find an optimal multicast tree which can satisfy QoS constraints, the network can not only meet the QoS requirements of data services, but also improve the efficiency of limited network resources. WCRA(Weight-based Clustering Routing Algorithm), a clustering routing algorithm, is designed in this paper. It adopts the combination weighting method, and the cluster topology is flexible. If the clustering strategy is changed properly, the correlated cluster or uncorrelated cluster can be constructed quickly. It can also adjust itself according to the actual application, improve the fairness of node competition and optimize the cluster structure. Experiments show that it can significantly improve the transmission rate of mobile network nodes, enhance the stability of the network, and provide an application basis for QoS services in Ad Hoc networks.

Drone communications make use of line-of-sight coverage of drones to realise services that ground devices may not support. Many relevant applications such as video capture by drones and drone traffic management, require group communications between drones to efficiently disseminate data. In this paper, we study high-performance yet resource-efficient multicasting between drones that may change their locations in order to fulfill their missions. This is achieved by proposing novel trajectories for mobile drones to seamlessly transit, with controlled travel distances and traffic overheads, in a multicasting environment. The presented efficient transition via trajectory adjustment (ETTA) algorithm is developed based on our analysis of the condition that determines when a straight-line trajectory between the origin and destination of a drone is not seamless. The algorithm then proposes the trajectory adjustment schemes that form a new interference-controlled and travel-distance-controlled trajectory to replace an interrupted straight-line trajectory. Our NS2 simulation results demonstrate that ETTA, as compared to other mobile multicasts, can achieve guaranteed performance in a multicast with heavier traffic loads.

multicast beamforming is a promising technique for multicast communication. Providing an efficient and powerful beamforming design algorithm is a crucial issue because multicast beamforming problems such as a max-min-fair problem are NP-hard in general. Recently, deep learning-based approaches have been proposed for beamforming design. Although these approaches using deep neural networks exhibit reasonable performance gain compared with conventional optimization-based algorithms, their scalability is an emerging problem for large systems in which beamforming design becomes a more demanding task. In this paper, we propose a novel deep unfolded trainable beamforming design with high scalability and efficiency. The algorithm is designed by expanding the recursive structure of an existing algorithm based on projections onto convex sets and embedding a constant number of trainable parameters to the expanded network, which leads to a scalable and stable training process. Numerical results show that the proposed algorithm can accelerate its convergence speed by using unsupervised learning, which is a challenging training process for deep unfolding.

The groupcast index coding (GIC) problem is a generalization of the index coding problem, where one packet can be demanded by multiple users. In this paper, we propose a new coding scheme called independent user partition multicast (IUPM) for the GIC problem. The novelty of this scheme compared to the user partition multicast (UPM) (Shanmugam et al., 2015) is in removing redundancies in the UPM solution by eliminating the linearly dependent coded packets. We also prove that the UPM scheme subsumes the packet partition multicast (PPM) scheme (Tehrani et al., 2012). Hence, the IUPM scheme is a generalization of both PPM and UPM schemes. Furthermore, inspired by jointly considering users and packets, we modify the coded approximation partition multicast (CAPM) scheme (Unal and Wagner, 2016) to achieve a new polynomial-time algorithm for solving the general GIC problem. We characterize a class of GIC problems with k(k-1)/2 packets, for any integer k ≥ 2, for which the IUPM scheme is optimal. We also prove that for this class, the broadcast rate of the proposed new heuristic algorithm is k, while the broadcast rate of the CAPM scheme is O(k 2 ).

This paper proposed a new shortest-distance path-based (SP) multicast routing algorithm, which is suitable for 2D Mesh topology. The algorithm uses a new partitioning method, which reduces data traffic and average latency. By setting different priorities for the data packets of each node, the network traffic is further balanced. Also, we present a novel compression scheme for a multicast head flit, which reduces the original head flit width to 1/3. Experimental results show that the SP routing algorithm proposed is superior to the traditional column path (CP) algorithm in terms of latency and power consumption.

Our research proposed a user experience driven multicast video conference algorithm based on MEC. This algorithm was designed to improve the utilization efficiency of network resources while ensuring user requirements and delay constraints. The algorithm is able to use the MEC server in the network as a forwarding node, and builds multicast trees for video transmission, and continually transcodes the video stream according to user requests. In this article, we modeled the problem of constructing a multicast tree capable of video transcoding as a nonlinear integer programming problem, and designed a heuristic algorithm. Amounts of simulation experiments proved that, our algorithm has better performance in terms of end-to-end delay and network resource utilization efciency compared with other algorithms.
