The deployment of a swarm of cooperative UAVs applications for the execution of distributed tasks has increased attention from both academia and industry researchers. The use of a group of UAVs instead of one single UAV offers many advantages like extending the mission coverage, providing a reliable ad-hoc networks services, and enhancing the service performance, to name a few. However, due to the highly dynamic nature of the swarm topology, the coordination of a large number of UAVs poses new challenges to traditional inter-UAV communication protocols. Therefore, there is a need for the design of new networking protocols that can efficiently support the fast-pace and real-time requirements of a coordinated swarm navigation in various environments. In this paper, we propose SEMRP a Swarm energy-efficient multicast routing protocol for UAVs flying in group formations. The main purpose of SEMRP is to facilitate the control and information delivery between UAVs while minimizing inter-UAV packet loss, packet re-transmission, and end-to-end delay. In this study we show how SEMRP achieves these objectives by taking into account various Quality-of-Service parameters like the network throughput, the UAVs mobility, and energy efficiency to ensure a timely and accurate information delivery to all members of a UAV swarm. The results of the conducted simulation using NS-2 advocate for the efficiency of our proposal through its to two presented versions (SEMRP-v1 and SEMRP-v2) in term of reducing the total emission energy (at least by 10 dBm), optimizing the End-to-End Delay by 44%, and increasing the packet delivery ratio by more than to 22% compared to SP-GMRF protocol.

ODMRP which is robust to node-moving because of its grid structure is one of most important multicast routing protocols used in MANET. However, periodically broadcasting join query messages over the whole network easily leads to a high network overhead. Inspired by the idea of locally searching widely used in objective tracking, we propose LSODMRP to address this issue. In this protocol, the join query messages are broadcasted over nodes nearby the multicast-related nodes smartly. To correct the deviation from the right forwarding nodes, a mixed global broadcasting of join query messages is implemented periodically. We also propose a GPS-free stable link selecting policy based on learning to improve the performance further. Finally, we compared the performance between ODMRP and LSODMRP in terms of overhead, end to end delay and number of delivered packets in node-independent scenario and group-uniform scenario. The simulation results show that LSODMRP can outperform ODMRP.

MANET consists of collection of mobile nodes with none infrastructure. Each node in Manet organizing yourself and with help of radio links develop a network with the objective of maximizing the mobility into wireless, mobile and autonomous domain. The area, as wherever speedy readying and vigorous reformation are needed and wired network is not obtainable are the popular applications of Manet. Most of the manet applications are depends upon multicast operations. multicasting is often used to ameliorate the potency of the radio link whereas transmitting numerous messages to escapade integral broadcast identity of radio/wireless transmission. Remarkably the multicast performs high responsibility in MANETs. In Manet, multicast routing should address a large space of problems like low energy, low bandwidth, and mobility. MANET provides subsidiary bandwidth than their wired counterparts;consequently, gathering information about creation of a routing table overpriced and expensive from energy purpose of. Therefore, Energy is one amongst the leading problems in MANETs due to extremely vigorous and dispersed personality of nodes and its superlative use has become an essential demand as all nodes are battery power-driven and therefore the failure of 1 node might have an effect on the entire network. This paper addresses the difficulty of energy optimisation in Mobile Ad hoc networks. The reduction of energy in an exceeding node might increase the likelihood of network ripping. In this paper, we have got tried to scale back the likelihood of such ripping.

In recent research, link stability is getting tremendous attention in mobile adhoc networks (MANETs), because of several impediments that occur in a reliable and robust network. Link stability metric is used to improve network performance in terms of end-to-end delay, data success delivery ratio (DSDR) and available route time (ART). Energy consumption, bandwidth and communication delay of major concern in ad hoc networks. A high mobility of MANET nodes reduces the reliability of network communication. In a dynamic networks, high mobility of the nodes makes it very difficult to predict the dynamic routing topology and hence cause route/link failures. multicast in MANETs is an emerging trend that effectively improves the performance while lowering the energy consumption and bandwidth usage. multicast routing protocol transmits a packet to multicast a group at a given time instant to achieve a better utilization of resources. In this paper, node mobility is considered to map better their movement in the network. So, the links with long active duration time can be identified as a stable link for route construction. Variation in signal strength is used to identify whether the direction of the node is towards or away from estimating node. We consider signal strength as QoS metric to calculate link stability for route construction. Efforts are made to identify the link with highly probable longer lifetime as the best suitable link between two consecutive nodes. We predict the movement time of nodes that define the route path to the node destination. Exata/cyber simulator is used for network simulation. The simulation results of the proposed routing protocol are compared with on-demand multicast routing protocol and E-ODMRP, which works on minimum hop count path. Analysis of our simulation results has shown improvement of various routing performance metrics such as DSDR, ART, routing overhead and packet drop ratio.

In MANETs, there are many critical issues such as energy consumption, QoS, exposure to attacks, link stability etc. that need to be addressed for improved communication. 'Link Stability' is important because radio links are likely to be unreliable due to node mobility. This instability leads to increased rerouting which further escalates routing overhead. One way of reducing routing overhead is use of multicasting instead of unicast routing. multicast routing protocol transmits data simultaneously to a group of destination nodes to achieve better resource utilization. In this paper, we present a multicasting routing protocol that uses received signal strength as a metric to estimate link stability. Estimated SINR (Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio) at every node in respect of different senders is used to determine a reliable path that is likely to mitigate link failures and reduce end-to-end delay. For any two nodes, we aim at finding best link with high probability of longer lifetime. We have simulated our experiment on Exata/Cyber Simulator and compared the result of the proposed routing protocol with ODMRP (On-Demand multicast routing protocol) based on minimum hop count. Analysis of our simulation results show improvement of various routing performance metrics such as PDR, routing Overhead and packet drop ratio.

Brain Storm Water Optimisation-Driven Secure multicast routing and Route Maintenance in IoT

In several Internet of Things (IoT) applications, messages are disseminated to some objects or nodes based on multicast transmissions. However, previous multicast routing schemes in IoT focussed mainly on the ad-hoc sensor network, but they are not robust and responsive in the IoT environment. Hence, this paper introduces the multicast routing protocol based on the proposed optimisation algorithm, named Brain Storm Water Optimisation (BSWO), in the IoT network. By the multicast routing protocol, the multicast path is designed from a multicast source node to various destinations. The multicast source node forwards packet to multiple destinations simultaneously. Initially, the nodes in the IoT network are simulated together and perform the multicast routing process effectively using the proposed optimisation framework. The multicast routing protocol performs the multicast routing mechanism using the multiobjective factors, such as distance, delay, energy, link-quality factor and trust. The multicast routing path is effectively chosen based on the developed BSWO through fitness measures. The proposed BSWO is designed by integrating the Brain Storm Optimisation (BSO) and Water Wave Optimisation (WWO), respectively. The path with the minimum distance is selected as an optimal path using the fitness parameters like delay, distance, trust, energy and link-quality factor. The proposed optimisation algorithm effectively performs the multicast routing mechanism by integrating the parametric features from both the optimisation algorithms. Once the multicast routing mechanism is done, the route maintenance process is carried out in the simulated IoT network to recover the link breakage. The proposed BSWO outperformed other methods with the minimal delay of 0.0682s, minimal average routing distance of 178.4m, maximal energy of 39.59J, maximal throughput of 87.75% and maximal trust of 90%, respectively.

This paper proposes a stability-based multicast routing protocol for Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) and it can simultaneously determine long-living multicast trees that also have close to minimum hop count per source-receiver paths. The proposed protocol is referred to as the MILET protocol, and is based on the inverse of the predicted Link Expiration Times (LET) values. The protocol launches an on-demand source-initiated request-reply broadcast tree construction process and the receiver nodes of the multicast group choose the path with the lowest sum of the link weights to join the multicast tree. By including a '1' in the link weight comprising of the inverse of the LET values, MILET manages to form multicast trees with long-living stable source-receiver paths that also have a lower hop count. Ns-2 based simulation analysis illustrates that MILET forms multicast trees that have at least 50% relatively longer lifetime compared to the other well-known multicast tree routing protocols and the hop count per source-receiver path is at most 7% larger than the minimum

routing is of prime importance in mobile ad-hoc networks as it is complex and the environment is extremely dynamic. On the other hand, multicast routing supports one to many communication and it is efficient with channel usage, bandwidth. routing algorithms define how data travels in a multicast network. In this paper we take a close look at attacks in multicast networks and ponder up on techniques involved in making the operation secure. Power usage should be kept an eye on, as multicasting involves nodes operating at remote locations. The power consumption was made aimed to make as minimal as possible. Mobile ad-hot networks are complex environments that are extremely dynamic. routing is the first step in setting up a MANET and it is of paramount importance to do it securely and efficiently. Many algorithms have been proposed to secure the routing. However, the operation is still a grey block with multiple major security challenges. In this paper we take a deeper look at techniques in making more robust and secure.

Design and simulation of a radio spectrum monitoring system with a software-defined network

This paper proposes a software-defined network architecture for a radio spectrum monitoring system that aims to help regulate spectrum allocation and usage management for nationwide commercial or civilian wireless communication systems. The proposed software-defined network architecture provides radio spectrum monitoring with the ability to coordinate the demand for communication bandwidth between the control workstations and the monitoring stations, using software-defined radio devices. To evaluate the proposed architecture, a testbed is designed that incorporates two versions of the Dijkstra algorithm to route the monitored data over the simulated software-defined network. Several metrics are used to measure the transmission performance, including packet loss rate, packet jitter, throughput, path cost, and average link utilization. The results of applying the proposed software-defined network architecture to a radio spectrum monitoring system in order to fulfill high traffic load requirements with software-defined radio technologies are promising.
