In order to solve the positioning problem of radar and communications, broadband signal and improve the positioning accuracy, this paper proposes a method of DOA estimation under uniform linear array, the method based on fast Fourier transform, using narrowband MUSIC algorithm principle, the broadband signal decomposition for multiple narrowband signal frequency band, and then for each frequency band for narrowband signal DOA estimation. The simulation results show that the algorithm has good performance.

Motility of cells plays an important role to determine the cell growth, health and to monitor the gene transformation. The aim of the current study is to propose a combination of a high-contrast label-free imaging method and a computational approach (conventionally used for super-resolution) which can be used as a tool in tracing the motion of the cells and organelles. Here, we integrate quantitative phase microscopy (QPM) with waveguide-based trapping (WT) and applied multiple signal classification algorithm (MUSICAL) to analyze the motion of the trapped particle. We successfully trapped and displaced a 1 mu m polystyrene bead particle on a strip waveguide using a 1064 nm laser beam. While propelling the polystyrene bead particle, we recorded time-lapsed interferometric images using a partially spatially coherent (PSC) light-based off-axis QPM system. The reconstruction of time-lapsed phase images of the trapped particle is accomplished using the Fourier transform and transport of intensity algorithm, which further used in MUSICAL for the motion trace analysis. Here, we traced the motion of a trapped bead particle with scale finer than the size of the object i.e., diffraction limit of the system. We show super-resolved motion trace even though the particle's image is itself diffraction limited in each frame. The proposed study could be useful in different biological applications such as cell monitoring, cell tracking, manipulation, and classification between healthy and unhealthy cells.

Drone localization plays an important role in anti-drone systems, which are designed for alleviating the threats brought by the illegal use of amateur drones. For the realization of drone localization, in this paper, we consider the problem of the direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of amateur drones. After formulating the acoustic signals of amateur drones by a harmonic model, we prove the validity of the multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm under the harmonic model, and utilize it to estimate the DOAs of amateur drones. Further, we integrate this algorithm into a real-life drone tracking platform. Extensive field experimental results show that the drone tracking platform is capable of realizing the DOA estimation of an amateur drone with high accuracy.

This paper investigates the resolution enhancement of correlated OTDR using Eigen-decomposition based algorithm. The algorithm separates the space spanned by the measured data into what are called noise and signal subspace and then pseudo-spectrum is calculated by using signal steering vector and noise subspace matrix. Attenuation dead zone of the correlated OTDR is improved up to 45 % by the Eigen-decomposition based algorithm.

In the Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) system, the pilot signal has high sensing performance due to its good autocorrelation and high transmit power. However, the equally spaced pilot signal reduces the maximum unambiguous range and velocity compared with the OFDM signal with continuous resources, limiting the sensing performance of base station (BS). Additionally, BS fails to estimate the distances and velocities of multiple targets in coherent signals. To address these problems, we propose a pilot design scheme with coprime and periodic stepping values for pilot indices. Theoretical analysis and simulation results demonstrate that the proposed pilot signal does not reduce the maximum unambiguous range and velocity, which can be processed by the smoothing algorithm and the multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm to accurately estimate the distances and velocities of multiple targets in coherent signals.

The application of direction of arrival (DOA) estimation techniques has increased in the biomedical field such as human body condition detection and medical imaging. In this paper, a joint multiple signal classification algorithm (MUSIC)phase difference fitting DOA estimation algorithm is proposed. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that it requires low computational effort and provides excellent estimation accuracy when the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is high. The algorithm also has good estimation accuracy at low SNRs.

Combining circular laser sensing array with MUSIC algorithm for fast damage localization

Large plate shell structures are key supporting components for aerospace and transportation equipment. Rapid localization of damages in large-scale thin-walled structures is an urgently needed technology for on-site detection and maintenance. This paper proposed a rapid damage localization method based on a laser ultra-sonic circular arrays, combining the advantages of the circular arrays and the MUSIC algorithm. It does not need reference signals in advance, the direct waves and scattered waves can be quickly distinguished and extracted according to the time of arrival (TOA). Then, the two-dimensional multiple signal classification method(2D-MUSIC) under near-field conditions is used to quickly locate damage, which is a feature subspace algorithm in array signal processing technology. Compared with other commonly used imaging algorithms, this method has great advantages in detection efficiency and angular resolution. According to the detection method proposed in this paper, the position of single damage and multiple incoherent damages within 0.12 m2 can be quickly found within 1.3 s, and the angle error and distance error are not more than 5 degrees and 5 cm. However, for the damage of coherent sources, there may be artifacts interfering with the imaging results.

Design and implementation of equilateral triangle array digital direction finding system

In this work, a scheme of an equilateral triangle array digital direction finding system is proposed, which implements the online real-time direction finding task for an airborne system. The three-elements equilateral triangle array can be used for calibrating the channel errors and eliminating the DOA (direction of arrival) fuzzy problem of the two-elements linear array, which is greatly reduced the system complexity and suitable for portable requirement. At the same time, the project adopts field programmable gate array (FPGA) to process the sample data in parallel mode, including data quadrature demodulation and multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm. The hardware implementation of MUSIC algorithm makes the system more flexible and faster than software implementation. The experimental results show that the deviation is less than 0.5 degrees with over 64 snapshots and the time is less 6ms with 256 snapshots, and then the program can complete the MUSIC algorithm accurately with high speed.

Elastic-wave-based structural health monitoring technology has a broad application potential for its sensitivity and ability to achieve regional monitoring. For structures with large damping and specific shapes, the traditional damage monitoring method is limited by the sensor arrangement area and affected by low signal-to-noise ratios, so it is difficult to accurately locate the damage in a structure. To solve this problem, this paper proposed a damage monitoring method based on a sector piezoelectric sensor array for multiple signal classification algorithm. By arranging two sector piezoelectric sensor arrays that are suitable for a specific structure, the damage scattering array signal under the multi-excitation source was obtained and synthesized, the signal-to-noise ratios were improved, and the damage location accuracy was thus improved. The effectiveness of the method was verified by monitoring the damage in a circular bonded structure with a metal ring. Compared with the damage localization methods based on the traditional single excitation source multiple signal classification algorithm, path imaging and delay-sum imaging, this method can achieve better damage location and has a higher localization accuracy.

Direct position determination and effective extraction of multiple transmitters

In this study, the problems, which simultaneously extract and direct positioning of multiple transmitters, are considered. Without assuming a priori knowledge of the source number, the multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm is applied after using the Akaike information theoretic criteria for model order determination, while the minimum variance distortionless response (MVDR) algorithm can be directly used to localise multiple sources that transmit unknown signals. Two methods, which combine MUSIC and MVDR with the image expansion (IE) algorithm, are proposed. The IE algorithm used in actual scenarios is based on the constant-false-alarm rate. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithms can effectively extract and accurately localise multiple transmitters.
