The multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) DC-DC converters offer various advantages such as improved efficiency and reduced component count. However, the preference of these converters over other types of converters is dependent on the specific application and requirements. Various types of boost-derived MIMO DC-DC converters are discussed in the literature. However, these converters are either nonisolated or isolated types. In the paper, a MIMO-based cascaded boost hybrid interlink converter (CBHIC) has been proposed. The proposed converter includes four DC-DC boost converters that are supplied power by two input DC sources. The boosted DC output of these converters can be used independently or in a cascaded manner depending upon the requirement of the load. Further, the cascaded action of these four boost converters leads to the production of two high-frequency AC outputs. By using bridge rectifiers and high-frequency transformers, high-frequency AC voltages are converted into DC. Therefore, two isolated DC output voltages can be achieved using CBHIC. The complementary operation of the cascaded boost converters results in reduction of source current ripples. The design, operating modes, and performance evaluation of the proposed CBHIC have been included in the paper. To validate the efficacy of the proposed CBHIC, a lab prototype of 400 W is prepared. The rms value of high-frequency AC output voltage at each is isolated port is 141 V. The CBHIC exhibits an efficiency of 94.3 at 400 W. The operation of the converter during voltage control mode is further explored and its dynamic response is studies with the help of experimental results. The obtained simulation and experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed converter. The MIMO-based cascaded boost hybrid interlink converter has been proposed. We investigate an optical pulse-overlap transmission scheme where the orthogonal condition between neighbor pulses is violated. The interferences between the grouped optical pulses are mitigated at the optical coherent receiver with time diversity multiple-input and multiple-output-based digital signal processing. Numerical simulation investigates the performance of 50% return-to-zero (RZ)-quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK) signals, where up to four pulses are overlapped and grouped for per pulse period. In the experiment demonstration, two 50% RZ-QPSK signals are combined with different time offset between neighbor pulses, and the Q-performance as a function of optical-signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) is compared on each pulse channel basis, with minimum OSNR penalty of only 1-dB compared to the single pulse transmission. Asymmetric geometrical-based statistical channel model and its multiple-input and multiple-output capacity

One of the fundamental research areas in wireless communications is the development of realistic models that can efficiently and accurately describe the wireless propagation channel. In this paper, the authors developed an asymmetric geometrical-based statistical channel model for mobile system and investigated the multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) receiving performance. This work was first in the asymmetric geometry literature to derive the closed-form explicit formulae for the time-of-arrival and the angle-of-arrival of the multi-paths, then the Doppler spectra. The channel model assumed that each multi-path component of the propagating signal undergoes only one bounce travelling from the base station (BS) to the mobile station (MS) and the scattering objects distributed around the BS, are assuming Gaussian and exponential spatial distribution models. Using the channel model, the authors first analysed the performance of MIMO antenna systems and Doppler spectra because of MS's motion.

Efficient downlink MU-MIMO VLC systems with NOMA-OTFS modulation for indoor applications

. In optical wireless communication (OWC), visible light communication (VLC) has shown great potential and attractive performance in indoor environments. However, the limited modulation bandwidth of VLC technologies poses performance restrictions. We propose a new approach for downlink communication utilizing multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology. Our approach integrates non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) with orthogonal time frequency space modulation (OTFS) to improve transmission performance, particularly for low mobility when using NOMA-OTFS. Our proposed work focuses on the crucial stage of NOMA with successive interference cancellation (SIC), which involves equalization using efficient schemes, such as decision feedback equalizer (DFE), frequency-domain zero-forcing linear equalizer, and minimum mean square error-SIC at the receiver. Through extensive experimentation, it is observed that the DFE with SIC outperforms other equalizers, demonstrating a lower outage probability and a better BER. The effectiveness of the optimized analytical algorithm for ML-based downlink NOMA-OTFS modulation is confirmed through theoretical BER validation. Moreover, the simulation findings indicate that, in a multi-user (MU) scenario, the proposed NOMA-OTFS exhibits a high performance compared with traditional NOMA combined with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing in downlink MU-MIMO VLC systems. This performance advantage is observed for both MIMO and multiple-input single-output multiplexing techniques with power allocation of the users, specifically in terms of BER improvement and peak-to-average-power ratio reduction.

Secrecy Sum-Rate Maximization for Active IRS-Assisted MIMO-OFDM SWIPT System

The propagation loss of RF signals is a significant issue in simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) systems. Additionally, ensuring information security is crucial due to the broadcasting nature of wireless channels. To address these challenges, we exploit the potential of active intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) in a multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) SWIPT system. The active IRS provides better beamforming gain than the passive IRS, reducing the "double-fading" effect. Moreover, the noise introduced at the active IRS can be used as artificial noise (AN) to jam eavesdroppers. This paper formulates a secrecy sum-rate maximization problem related to precoding matrices, power splitting (PS) ratios, and the IRS matrix. Since the problem is highly non-convex, we propose a block coordinate descent (BCD)-based algorithm to find a sub-optimal solution. Moreover, we develop a heuristic algorithm based on the zero-forcing precoding scheme to reduce computational complexity. Simulation results show that the active IRS achieves a higher secrecy sum rate than the passive and non-IRS systems, especially when the transmit power is low or the direct link is blocked. Moreover, increasing the power budget at the active IRS can significantly improve the secrecy sum rate.

Solving Ambiguity in Target Detection for BPSK-Based MIMO FMCW Radar System

In a binary phase shift keying (BPSK)-based multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar system, real and ghost targets are detected simultaneously, causing ambiguity in target detection. In this paper, we define the targets that are inevitably generated by the BPSK modulation as ghost targets and propose a method for suppressing them. The proposed ghost target suppression method consists of two main steps. First, at the receiving end, a received signal is demodulated using a specific code orthogonal to binary codes used to modulate transmitted signals. Due to the Doppler shift caused by the spectrum of the code used at the receiving end, only ghost targets remain in the demodulated received signal. Then, by subtracting the demodulated signal including the ghost targets from the initially received signal, only the information of the actual targets can be restored. We verify the performance of the proposed method through simulations and actual signal measurements. In addition, the target estimation performance of the proposed method is compared with that of the time-division multiplexing MIMO FMCW radar system.

Quad element millimetre-wave MIMO antenna for 5G communication

A multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) system (size 35 x 35 x 0.76 mm(3)) of the four-element antenna with a 4.69 GHz impedance bandwidth (23.56-28.25 GHz) (millimetre wave) is proposed for 5G communication. The band capacity and radiation properties of the antenna are enhanced by modifying rectangular radiating patches with rectangular-shaped slots in ground plane. The proposed MIMO antenna achieved the isolation of 21 dB. The mutual coupling coefficient, envelope correlation coefficient (ECC), total active reflection coefficient (TARC), diversity gain (DG), mean effective gain (MEG), and channel capacity loss (CCL) are investigated to evaluate the performance attributes of diversity, and the obtained values are -21 dB, 0.007, -10 dB, 9.99 dB, & PLUSMN;3 dB, and 0.30 bits/sec/Hz, respectively. The robustness of the MIMO antenna is further demonstrated in different scenario under Gaussian/uniform propagation conditions. Each antenna has an average total efficiency of 92% and a maximum gain of 6.65 dBi. The testing of fabricated antenna provides excellent experimental results in comparison with simulations.

progress in mobile communication and the Internet of Things facilitates multiple features. The trending technology demands wider bandwidth so that user experiences uninterruptedly. The wider bandwidth and the isolation are two key characteristics of modern device antennas. The design of an ultrawideband (UWB) and four-port MIMO antenna is presented in this brief. The semicircular monopole patch is modified by including a guitar shape slot on a radiator and a half-circle slot in the lowered ground plane. The structural transformation affects the current path and enhances impedance matching, resulting in a broader bandwidth. The UWB monopole is replicated to construct a four-port multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) antenna. The separation between the interelement is less than the quarter wavelength. As a decoupling structure, the implicit mutual coupling in the MIMO elements is minimized by parasitic elements on the radiator and defected ground plane (DGS). A novel mesh-like structure embedded in radiating plane and DGS couples the current from an excited antenna and suppresses through the DGS correspondingly and improves the isolation. The overall geometry of the antenna is 45x45x1.6 mm(3). The UWB MIMO has a measured impedance bandwidth of 113% between 4.5-16.4 GHz and greater than 20 dB of isolation throughout the bandwidth. Besides the mutual coupling reduction, radiation characteristics and all MIMO diversity parameters are studied. The performance of MIMO diversity characteristics is relatively good, with envelope correlation coefficient < 0.002, diversity gains 10, mean effective gain <-3 dB, total active reflection coefficient <-10dB, channel capacity loss < 0.2 bps/Hz, and multiplexing efficiency <-0.5. The experimental and simulated findings are in line and make the projected design suitable for UWB MIMO applications.
