In multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) radar, independent waveforms are transmitted from different antennas, and the target parameters are estimated via the linearly independent echoes from different targets. Several adaptive approaches are directly applied to target angle and target amplitude estimation, including Capon, APES(amplitude and phase estimation). The CCA(canonical correlation analysis) approach is first proposed to estimate target locations which has high peak amplitudes, then a gradient-based algorithm is presented to improve the target angle estimation accuracy based on CCA approach without spectrum peak searching. With an initial angle, the angle sequence is iteratively updated with adaptive steps and converges to local peaks which indicate the target locations. Simulations show that the target angle accuracy is improved, and the common DOA(direction-of-arrive) problem is avoided.

Device-to-device (D2D) communication underlaying cellular networks will become an important technology in the future networks such as International Mobile Telecommunications-Advanced (IMT-Advanced) to improve spectral efficiency. For the multi-user multi-input multi-output (MU-MIMO) architecture with multi-antenna base station, design and optimization of D2D communications underlaying such a network is an interesting research area that has not been fully investigated yet. In this paper, we consider a cellular network with multiple cellular user equipments (UEs) and multiple direct D2D pairs underlaying communications with a central base station equipped with multiple antennas. We generalize a joint optimization problem to maximize the overall rate of the cellular UEs and D2D pairs, with regard to the continuous beamforming vector design for all cellular UEs and the binary D2D pair association status search. In addition, to solve the mixed optimization problem approximately, we investigate three precoder design methods and propose a D2D pair association vector search algorithm. Simulation results show the performance gain under different precoder methods with the D2D association vector search algorithm.

In this paper high isolation dual-polarized Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) Long Term Evolution (LTE) applications is designed and fabricated. High isolation more than 50 dB is achieved through Quasi-orthogonal modes at 2.6 GHz with hybrid feeding mechanism. Port 1 and port 2 excite TE~X and TE~Y modes through microstrip feed line and coaxial probe, respectively. The proposed design is analyzed for distinct ground planes which demonstrate negligible effect on gain and S-parameters. Simulated and measured results reveal that the proposed design is appropriate for MIMO LTE terminals.

This paper presents a novel unified performance analysis of Space-Time Block Codes (STBCs) operating in the multiple input multiple output (MIMO) network. Specifically, we derive a novel unified expression for the average bit error rate for all coherent modulation schemes assuming independent and identically distributed generalized-K fading channels, which accounts for both multipath fading and shadowing, and modeled via the Nakagami-m distribution and the gamma distributions, respectively. The noise model in the network is assumed to be an Additive White Generalized Gaussian Noise (AWGGN), which encompasses the Laplacian and the Gaussian noise environments as special cases. The derived expression obviates the need to recalculate the diversity of various receivers for many fading and noise models in a piecemeal fashion. Published results from the literature as well as numerical integration methods corroborate the accuracy of the unified expression.

Aiming at the current ultra-wideband multiple-input multiple-output (UWB-MIMO) antenna, which had a large size, low isolation, and other deficiencies, a miniaturized, high-isolation UWB-MIMO antenna was designed. The antenna's backside was a rectangular ground plate with cutting corners, while the front side was made up of a "vase"-style radiation patch and a stepped microstrip feeder. The antenna was broad-banded by symmetrically cutting the corners of the rectangular radiating patch and etching the rectangular slot on the ground plate. The antenna achieved high isolation by loading a "fishbone" and symmetrical "Y" decoupling stubs on the front and back of the dielectric substrate. The antenna was simulated and measured with a size of only 22 mm × 29 mm × 0.8 mm, having an operating bandwidth of 1.5∼18 GHz (the relative bandwidth reaches 169%), isolation more significant than 17 dB in the bandwidth range, and an envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) of less than 0.02. The antenna can be utilized in UWB-MIMO wireless communication systems since it has good radiation performance and a small structure.

A novel coherent optical multiple-input multiple-output architecture is proposed for wireless communication links to mitigate atmospheric turbulence effects. Transmitter optical signals operate at distinct carrier frequencies to allow the received optical signals to be separately processed. The accumulated phase noise in each transmission branch can be independently compensated electronically. Based on the proposed architecture, several popular diversity combining techniques are considered for system performance evaluation. The presented results demonstrate substantial error performance improvement over a single-input single-output coherent optical wireless link.

We propose a novel spatial modulation (SM) scheme, which is a joint of two index modulation schemes. One is the M-ary spatial shift-keying (MSSK) modulation operated in the space domain, while the other one is the M-ary orthogonal shift keying (MOSK) modulation, which usually requires more bandwidth to implement, when its modulation level increases. As both MSSK and MOSK belong to the energy-efficient modulation schemes, the joint MSSK-MOSK modulation is energy-efficient, which is suitable for providing reliable communications in low signal to noise ratio (SNR) region. We also propose two approaches for detection of the MSSK-MOSK signals. The first approach is the joint maximum likelihood detection (MLD), which simultaneously detects the component MSSK symbol and MOSK symbol in MLD principle. The second approach is the successive MLD, which first detects the component MOSK symbol using non-coherent MLD, and then the component MSSK symbol using coherent MLD. Finally, we investigate the error performance of the MSSK-MOSK modulation, when assuming communications over flat Rayleigh fading channels with receiver diversity. Our studies demonstrate that the joint MLD slightly outperforms the successive MLD, but requires much higher complexity for implementation. With the resources provided from both the space and frequency domains, the MSSK-MOSK with high modulation levels may be readily implemented, which makes it is possible to provide reliable communications at very low energy consumption, even when the low-complexity successive MLD is employed.

An adaptive iterative learning control (AILC) is proposed to release the requirement of repetitiveness for a class of multiple-input multiple-output nonlinear systems. Based on high-order internal model, the time-iteration-varying law of parametric uncertainty is expressed. Furthermore, reference trajectory and initial state are varying from iteration to iteration randomly. The asymptotic convergence of the proposed AILC method has been proved through rigorous derivation. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve the control target well.

A physically in tuitional stochastic multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel model is presented in this paper. It is realized as simple linear superposition architecture and has involved diversified effect of the wireless propagation. Then,the spatial correlation properties of the MIMO channel are analyzed exhaustively based on this model and results shows that the spatial correlation depends on the statistical properties of the channel, the antenna pattern, the separation between the antennas and the geometric configurations of the arrays.
