Processing the matrix signals of vector hydrophone was critical to the research on engineering application of vector matrix. However, such processing required massive computation. Accordingly, a vector matrix based modification of music algorithm was introduced to solve such issue. The said modification lowered computation amount by applying the Wiener Filter in music algorithm to skip decomposition of eigenvalues. The method of vector hydrophone Uniform Linear Array (ULA) was adopted to test the performance of the modified algorithm. The computer simulated outcome has verified the effectiveness of such modified music algorithm, showing that the modified music algorithm can clearly distinguish the coherent signals, and is superior to the original music algorithm.

The music algorithm is researched in the planar antenna array. The conventional direction of arrival (DOA) estimation method in the planar array antennas uses the technology of beam scanning. It needs a lot of array element. To the finite conformal array DOA estimation, the resolution ratio will be affected by the Rayleigh limit. While, the music algorithm can fully utilize the orthogonality of noise subspace and signal subspace, it can achieve the DOA estimation through the spectrum peak search. Based on the planar array antenna, the Bartlett beam-forming method the CAPON minimum variance method and the music algorithm are analyzed and simulated. The simulation results show that the music algorithm has higher resolution relative to the two traditional algorithms.

An attitude of satellite is not always static, sometimes it moves randomly and the antenna pointing of satellite is harder to achieve line of sight communication to other satellite when it is outage by tumbling effect. In order to determine an appropriate direction of satellite antenna in inter-satellite link, this paper analyze estimation performance of the direction of arrival (DoA) using music algorithm from connected satellite signal source. It differs from optical measurement, magnetic field measurement, inertial measurement, and global positioning system (GPS) attitude determination. The proposed method is characterized by taking signal source from connected satellites, after that the main satellite processed the information to obtain connected satellites antenna direction. The simulation runs only on the direction of azimuth. The simulation result shows that music algorithm processing time is faster than satellite movement time in orbit on altitude of 830 km with the period of 101 minutes. With the use of a 50 elements array antenna in spacing of 0.5 wavelength, the total of 20 angle of arrival (AoA) can be detected in 0.98 seconds of processing time when using music algorithm.

The N-th power of the inverse matrix is applied to approximate the noise subspace to eliminate the requirement of distinguishing the signal and the noise subspace. The combination of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors replaces the N-th power of the inverse covariance matrix. The improved algorithm has been implemented by DSP. A novel music algorithm for angle of arrival (AOA) estimation is proposed based on processing the covariance matrix of the array output signals. Unlike the conventional music algorithm which is an effective method for AOA estimation but it can only do with incoherent signals, the proposed method can solve the problem of the coherent and related signal that is more practical in an actual communication environment. And we consider the problems of AOA estimation under a multipath environment in this paper. By processing the covariance matrix of the array output signals, the rank of the signals is restored to full rank which can effectively estimate AOA of the incident signals. Simulation results obviously shows better performance of proposed method, compared with convention music algorithm.

To reduce the large computation of joint direction-of-arrival (DOA) and polarization parameters estimation based on electromagnetic vector sensor array, a reduced-dimensional music algorithm with modulus constraint (MC-RDmusic) is proposed. The MC-RDmusic algorithm estimates the DOA and polarization parameters in two separate steps. In step one, DOA parameter is separated from polarization parameters and estimated by music algorithm;in step two, cost function is constructed according to constraint condition and polarization parameters are obtained with closed-form formulas. Compared with traditional music algorithm, MC-RDmusic algorithm avoids the spectrum peak search of DOA and polarization parameters at the same time, greatly improves the operation efficiency. Because of the one-to-one correspondence between DOA angle and polarization parameters, MC-RDmusic algorithm avoids parameters matching problem compared with ESPRIT algorithm. The computer simulation results verify the correctness of MC-RDmusic algorithm, and as well as its high success rate and precision of the angle estimation.

When the variable frequency motor rotor failed, the harmonic components of stator current intensified, which makes the extraction of fault characteristics more difficult. To solve the problem, on-line detection way of rotor faults based on the music (Multiple Signal Classification) algorithm is presented, which the current signal of inverter DC side is acquired and processed by the algorithm to obtain the fault feature component. The experimental results show the method is simple and effective, which improve the reliability of the rotor fault diagnosis.
