In this paper we design novel decoders for non-binary low density parity check (ldpc) codes. For a non-binary ldpc code C over the field F-q of size q for some q > 0, we propose two novel cooperative decoders, each composed of a binary component decoder and a q-ary component decoder in a concatenated manner, to obtain excellent decoding performance. Specifically to reduce the complexity of the cooperative decoders, we design a hybrid q-ary component decoder. Then, we propose an algorithm to construct the parity check matrix to eliminate the bit-level cycles. Simulations show that the decoding performance of the proposed algorithm approaches the capacity limit within 0.2 dB at BER = 10(-4).

In this work, a non-binary low density parity check (ldpc) coded high dimensional multiple input multiple output (MIMO) scheme with partial mapping for high order modulation is proposed. For the proposed scheme, when M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) is employed, then non-binary ldpc code constructed over Galois field with order root M is used for partial mapping, where root M is an integer. At the receiver side, a real-valued expectation propagation (REP) based detection algorithm is used. Furthermore, symbol-wise extrinsic information transfer (SEXIT) chart based iterative optimization algorithm is used to optimize the concatenated non-binary ldpc code. A simplified method is proposed to calculate the component EXIT chart of the massive MIMO detector, which can avoid a large amount of simulations. Numerical simulation results demonstrate the validity of the above idea.

In this paper, we propose a low complexity extrinsic message based decoding algorithm for non-binary ldpc codes. This algorithm only requires computations over finite field and integer operations. The novelty of this decoding algorithm lies in that we compute extrinsic message and iteratively update the messages in every iteration. The proposed algorithm provides effective trade-off between computational complexity and performance. Furthermore, complexity issues and decoding performance will be well analyzed in this paper. Simulation results show that we can achieve a better performance than ISRB algorithm with a slight increase in computational complexity.

In order to achieve reliable communication, transmit diversity is commonly used in multiple antenna systems. Currently, to obtain transmit diversity, space-time code is usually used. In this paper, a new multiplicative transformation scheme is proposed for multiple antenna systems with non-binary low-density parity-check (ldpc) codes. It is shown that this scheme can provide transmit diversity. In the scheme, for the first antenna, the modulated ldpc codeword is directly applied, while for the second antenna, before modulation, a multiplicative transformation is used, where the multiplication is defined in the same Galois field as that used to construct the nonbinary ldpc code. The performance of the proposed system is analyzed, and it is shown that, compared with phase sweeping transmit diversity (PSTD) and Alamouti's space-time block code (STBC), the proposed system not only provides transmit diversity, but also achieves good gain. Simulation results further prove the increased performance in both block fading and slow fading channels.(1)

In the high speed data transmission, Low-Density Parity-Check (ldpc) channel coding scheme is widely studied for its near Shannon limit and its good performance in the circumstance of low signal to noise ratio. The ldpc codes have several advantages over the Turbo codes and are one of the hottest topic in today's coding theory research. Based on the research background, this paper has proposed the method for constructing a Check matrix of binary ldpc. Secondly, the Tanner graph of B-ldpc is introduced in detail. Finally, The construction of non-binary ldpc is investigated. Important rules of non-binary ldpc are put forward. The factors that influence the performance are discussed and it explores the research direction of the next step.

In this paper, we present two low complexity algorithms to decode non-binary ldpc codes. The proposed decoding algorithms update iteratively the hard decision received vector to search for a valid codeword in the vector space of Galois field (GF). The selection criterion for the position of unreliable symbols is based on failed checks and the information from the Galois field structure. In the first proposed algorithm, the flipping function is calculated for all symbols of the received sequence and multiple symbols are flipped in each iteration while in the second proposed algorithm, a single symbol is flipped per iteration. In the second method, unreliable positions are short-listed by using a majority voting scheme, and then the flipping function is computed to predict candidate symbols from the set of symbols in GF(q) while not violating the field order q. The proposed methods reduce the decoding complexity and memory use. The results of the algorithms show appealing tradeoffs between complexity and bit error rate performance for non-binary ldpc codes.

In this paper, we propose Irregular non-binary Low Density Parity Check (IR-NB-ldpc) codes with Signed Log Fast Fourier Transform (SL-FFT) decoding algorithm to overcome the harsh environment of power-line communication (PLC) channels. Their performance is compared with Irregular binary ldpc (IR-B-ldpc) codes using the Sum Product algorithm (SPA). The sparse parity check matrix H of both codes are constructed using progressive edge growth (PEG) algorithm with a novel initialization of the apriori log likelihood ratios (LLR) of each decoder to mitigate the highly impulsive noise in PLC channels. Numerical performance results obtained via simulations show that the proposed system at bit error rate of 10~(-4) achieves a coding gain of more than 21 dB compared to uncoded system and more than 6 dB compared to IR-B-ldpc codes for the same block length in bits and rates, however, this is accomplished with higher decoding complexity.

Recent studies show that dynamic scheduling using the latest available information is superior to the flooding scheduling. While the existing works on informed dynamic scheduling focus on belief propagation (BP) based algorithm for binary ldpc codes, in this paper we devise a novel method which is appropriate for majority-logic decoding of non-binary ldpc codes. We firstly clarify that previous methods are not suitable for majority-logic decoding of non-binary ldpc codes. Then we give a practical scheduling strategy which utilizes the stability of check nodes to select the messages for propagation. Furthermore, we discuss the computational complexity of this proposed scheme in detail. Simulation results verify that our approach can achieve better performance compared with layered and flooding schemes.
