The paper presents a revision of basic inference services leveraging object-oriented Database Management System to perform semantic matchmaking and provide logical explanations. OWL-DL Knowledge Bases have been properly migrated towards an objectoriented version to enable reasoning by addressing proper queries to a mobile DB. Automated assembly lines for highly innovative and individualized products lead to advanced requirements for flexibility and scalability. Especially the consistent transfer and reuse of processes requires the implementation of modern, scalable control systems in order to be prepared for product changes or changes of the underlying automation hardware. We propose a modular system architecture that not only allows for the distributed control but also for the distributed simulation of such assembly lines. Its flexibility is based on an agent-based architecture connected to an active communication hub and controlled by a central supervisor. To implement the system, we combined our expertise in robotic simulation and virtual production with our experience in GIS (geographic information systems) applications and object-oriented databases.

The storage receives information about the format of data generated by daemons and its API enables queries according to individual attributes obtained by analyzing log rows. Signature technique for multi-key indexing is proposed for flexible searching in the area of database. In this paper, the signature technique called the Join Signature file is presented to cover graph aggregation hierarchy. The structure of Join Signature is flexible enough so that the predicate can occur at any classes in the hierarchy and the target can be anywhere in the graph aggregation hierarchy. Due to its special data structure and manipulative principle, object-oriented Database (OODB) has a particular security protection and authorization methods. This paper first introduces the features of security mechanism about OODB, and then talked about authorization checking process of OODB. Implicit authorization mechanism is based on the subject hierarchies, object hierarchies and access hierarchies of the security authorization modes, and simplifies the authorization mode. In addition, to combine with other authorization mechanisms, implicit authorization can make protection on the authorization of OODB expediently and effectively.

Video database applications call for flexible and powerful modeling and querying facilities, which require an integration or interaction between database and knowledge-based technologies. It is also necessary for many real life video database applications to incorporate uncertainty, which naturally occurs due to the complex and subjective semantic content of video data. In this study, firstly, we introduce a fuzzy conceptual data model to represent the semantic content of video data. For that purpose, UML (unified modeling language) is utilized and extended to represent uncertain information along with video specific properties. Secondly, we present an intelligent fuzzy object-oriented database framework for video database applications. The introduced fuzzy conceptual model is used in this framework, which provides modeling of complex and rich semantic content and knowledge of video data including uncertainty. Moreover, it supports various flexible queries including (fuzzy) semantic, temporal and (fuzzy) spatial queries, based on the video data model. We think that the presented conceptual data model and the framework can be used for any video database application. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
